🐾 Twins across species! 🐾
Say hello to Daisy the badger and Maverick the black bear cub! They were both born at 2:36 AM this morning and are doing well. Right now they’re in their own enclosures with their mother to let them get accustomed to their new life before their soon-to-be, curious friends come sniffing their way. Want to meet them? Come to the Central Park Zoo to see them interacting with other animals for the first time this afternoon!
Did you know that badgers and bears are one of the few animal species to give birth in the winter? Squirrels are also known to give birth in late winter from February to March.

🐾 Meet Cindy! 🐾
Cindy is a 2 year old, female Capybara that lives in our Safari Park in Katz Village. The average Capybara can live 5-10 years in the wild and up to 12 years in captivity. Cindy came to us 6 months ago with a broken hind, left leg and now freely walks around our park. She had made a wonderful recovery and got herself a new best friend in the process. Milo is one of the cats indigenous to Katz Village and after a few weeks of Cindy being with us, they became inseparable. The two now travel everywhere together and if you’re lucky, you might be able to see Milo riding on her back during your visit.
Want to see Cindy and Milo? Call the zoo for pricing and to set up a date! Safari tours are only available by reservation only.
Fun Fact: Did you know a Capybara can hold its breath underwater for up to 5 minutes?

🐾 Meet Atticus! 🐾
Atticus is our oldest male Sumatran Tiger at 15 years old. The average Sumatran Tiger can live up to 15 years in the wild and 20 years in captivity, so he still has a long life ahead of him! Atticus came to us as a sick cub, abandoned by his mother at birth. We assume it was due to the fact that he was the runt of the litter. At the age of 3, he was released back into the wild after he was able to fend for himself. At the age of 10, he was brought back to the zoo after getting into a fight with another tiger and severely damaging his hip and his spirit.
Atticus is now 15 years old, weighs 300 pounds, and is 98 inches in length. Doesn’t sound like the runt, now does it? That’s why it’s important not to judge a book by its cover!
Other than eating copious amounts of meat, he enjoys swimming, climbing, and cuddling up to the zoo’s owner, Agate. Agate has been through most of this journey with him and they have formed an incredible bond. She states, “he is nothing more than a big baby”.
His unique nature allows for a small number of people to take pictures and pet him.
Want to meet Atticus? Call the zoo for pricing and to set up a date! (Limited to 10 minutes at a time and a maximum number of 4 people to a group.)
