Shame, rage and pain course through her, in equal measure.  She has failed, and it sickens her. A whole-year cycle she had planned for that raid, a mining planet fat with resources with the improbably dull name of “Greystar”.  They had watched in horror as delicate Aethervanes of her ships crumbled like tissue under artillery fire. A dull whine still echoed in her ears, and the ache is intolerable. Earthshaker shells were agonisingly loud even for the dull senses of humans, and vain fool that she was Aestra had gone helmless. She had wanted them to see her smirk as they spat and called her a Xenos witch, knife eared harpy and other epithets.

To be defeated by Mon'keigh, the small drab ones in green no less. Mortifying.

I am genuinely infuriated by the notion that people that require accommodation in gaming should have just “gotten better” instead of the game or system they’re playing on to just allow for differently abled peoples. 

Like sure, this individual could play a game with a regular controller but without accommodation how could they be expected to have as much fun as the person the regular controller was designed for in the first place? Making efforts to be inclusive doesn’t detract from anyone else’s gaming experience, in my opinion it’s quite the opposite; it enriches our gaming experience by providing us with a whole new group of people that we can share our love of gaming with, that we can develop rivalries with and chat about how much we enjoy our favorite games with. Accommodating people with different capabilities isn’t just good for those individuals... it’s good for all of us... if you think otherwise then all I have to offer you is an emphatic “fuck you” from the bottom of my heart.

The thing that gets me about most arguments against accessibility features in video games is that they’re not just grossly ableist, they’re also hypocritical as hell. Video games have always had accessibility features: we just documented them poorly and called them “cheat codes”. Indeed, having a robust library of difficulty-modifying cheats was considered a mark in a game’s favour! The only difference is that a cheat code is theoretically a secret, which allows it to be framed as elite knowledge, even though it’s functionally identical to having an “infinite lives” switch on the options screen.

Here’s a thesis for you: the Konami Code was the first well-publicised accessibility feature.

Ordo Hybris Agent in Null city covert ops attire.

Operation "Naked Drake" was a mission conceived during a recaf break at a Xenos Hybris strategy meeting in which several low level Inquisitors conspired to bury an asset, fearing his vast knowledge of current clandestine operations or begrudging his refusal to submit to their authority.

Despite their issues with the asset he was regularly effective and thus had proponents within the Hybris, so simply eliminating him wasn't an immediate option. Under the guise of an intelligence gathering mission the asset known to most only as "Agent" was ordered to infiltrate the Dark City of Commorragh.

Recognizing the death sentence for what it was the Agent began plotting and calculating, calling in every owed favor and exhausting every hoarded and pilfered resource at his disposal to lay the ground work of a much more ambitious plan than his superiors, friend or foe, could anticipate.
