heyoooo so! i’m going on a trip to prague with family between the 15th to the 21st, and as always i have no idea how much time / internet access etc etc i’ll have. knowing me, i’ll probably still be doing things on here, but… consider this a heads up just in case!

Well thank god they can stop wasting time now and just focus on getting the hell out of here. He takes Victor’s hand and pulls him up, balancing him carefully near his side. “It’s fine. Running only draws attention.” Yeah, it would get them out faster, but it wouldn’t necessarily be safer.

        “—Thanks.” Victor takes a half moment to steady himself, then gives a brisk nod. “Alright. Time for... walking sedately out of suspicious buildings and trying not to attract too much notice. It’s fine.” He gives a glance to the end of the corridor, still careful. “I think we’re that way.”

“You look less like a ghost and I don’t really know how to handle it. I usually identify you by whichever bleeding limb you’re holding on to.” Sebastian shuts and locks the door, reaching behind Victor to do so. “Yeah, especially since I keep letting you in.” Which is mostly a joke, but also a fairly truthful statement. “A war you’re winning, by the way.”

         “Thought so. Maybe I could fall and stab myself on something just so you can feel more at home— I mean, it’s only polite.” It really shouldn’t be this rare, but here they are. It’s definitely not a bad thing, though. “I try, I try. It’s all in my secret weapon, you see: I try to make sure that not letting me in would be slightly less convenient for you.”

“You mean spend my lunch break with a man as gorgeous as yourself? Thought you’d never ask.” John’s kidding, sort of. Not about the man being easy on the eyes, but pretty much the rest of it. “Sorry, I’m not assuming anything. Really, I’m entirely eager to hear what you can come up with.”

        Oh, and there’s no way Victor can help the soft, genuinely warm smile that colours his expression at that compliment. He both appreciates it and makes it obvious, at least. “Pretty sure you just scuppered any chance I did have of being smooth by flustering me, but. I can try.” He’s still rather too busy being flattered, though.

Amir laughs, hand slipping from his coffee cup as he sets it back down on the table. “Us nihilists probably shouldn’t be catching coffee together, should we?” 

        “Probably not,” Victor agrees, but that doesn’t stop him sounding all-too-cheerful when he says it. “Too much of that probably ends in a suicide pact.”

“So that’s why I didn’t recognize you,” he says, letting Victor in. “I knew something had to be missing.” This won’t be one of those frantic times, which at this point, is very much a surprise. “I had about a three second war with myself over whether I should, but fortunately for you, my common sense lost out.”

        “I know, I know. I look so different without the aura of blood loss exhaustion.” He steps inside anyway, rolling his eyes at Sebastian’s comment. “Your common sense is terrible. My whole life is essentially just a war against your common sense, at this point.” And his own, too, when it comes to being near Seb at all.

“Are you sure? It really wouldn’t be a bother to get you another.” John’s tempted to insist, but that seems equally not smooth. “There has to be some way to make this up to you, or for you to redeem your smooth status.”

        “No, really— it’s fine. It’s just coffee.” It’s hardly the most important thing in the world. Victor smiles all the same, almost genuine. “I mean... you could keep me company while I try to think of something smooth to say.”
