Personally I find it odd that some people blame Felicity for her parents being slave-owners in the books. She's like 10. What is she going to do about it? She isn't responsible for her parents actions. That is an actual child.
The blame goes to the people that are responsible for writing and publishing the books, and her parents.
Quit with the Felicity slander.

Results are in! It looks like most people don't know who she is, so that's fascinating. Of those who do know her, neutral opinions were the most common! Thank you to all who participated.
I know there are a lot of mixed opinions online about McKenna. I'd like to find out what the most popular opinions are on her on AG Tumblr!

That really long post I'm working on is still in the works! It's just taking a bit longer than anticipated. I'm a little under halfway done, and really having to stretch my creativity to get it any further than that. But, I'll keep going till it eventually reaches 100 as I previously stated!

I remember having this book as a kid, and also reading it in school. It's so tragic, and unfortunate. It's definitely a must read though, and fairly short too.
Tumblr media
I found this book at a thrift store. It is so sad! I vaguely remembered a story about a thousand paper cranes but couldn’t remember the details. I feel ashamed I didn’t know it better considering how many hours of NHK I’ve watched but yeah this one is a rough read for kids. Hiroshima was no joke. Even the people who didn’t die— or who weren’t even born yet (they got it from their parents) often got sick from the bomb’s radiation and died from leukemia years later. So much needless suffering. So horrible.
Read it if you want to get sad (and inspired?) about a real girl in Japan if you like reading Molly, Nanea or Maryellen. It spans 1945-1955.
I can’t decide if I should start a new book tumblr or what.

I love these, especially Kirsten and Molly. However, I'm concerned about what they might mean for the future of the company. AG is already beginning to target a younger demographic (6-7 yo instead of the original 8-10.) If they begin doing My First, how long until they move that demographic younger? How long until they target babies and 2-5 year olds and forget Pleasant Rowlands original goal to fill the gap up in the market?
I know they already have Bitty Baby, Wellie Wishers and Bitty Twin. They've diversified a lot actually, demographic wise. I love these ragdoll style dolls too. As long as they keep the main American Girl dolls around, I don't see much problems with them. I also wonder if they're maybe targetting new parents who grew up with AG. After all, these are a cheaper and less breakable alternative to the main AG dolls.
I'm rambling. I do like these dolls. I wonder how big they are, I kind of want the Molly one.

I love Ivy, she's my favorite out of my current collection. (don't tell Nanea!) I think it would be fun to write a series based on Ivy to expand on her lore. Just as a fanfiction. I should consider it.

I was inspired by ivylingstanacc on Instagram to mock up book covers for if my girl Ivy Ling had been the main character.
There aren't a ton of Ivy illustrations, which is a huge shame because I'd like to make her a cover for The Puzzle of the Paper Daughter, one of Julie's mysteries that heavily features Ivy and her grandparents!
Ivy is such a sweet character, I really wish AG had made her more than a sidekick.

Honestly? I hate how fast people tend to write off McKenna's (GoTY 2012) books. Like yeah, she's a gymnast, but there's so much more to it than that. It's an incredibly important story for kids, especially those with learning disabilities like McKenna. Especially for kids in wheelchairs, like Josie. Especially for kids with friends or classmates with these disabilities, who may not really understand it. These books are IMPORTANT. I don't mind if you don't like her doll. Or if you don't even like her personality. (personally i love her, she was the first GoTY I was a fan of AG during) What I DO mind are people writing off her story like it's nothing. This is a problem I mostly see on AG YouTube/TikTok (although I left TikTok a week ago), not here, but it's so frustrating. There are so many other smaller lessons for kids in those books, but honestly, just having an American Girl with a learning disability and another character in her story with a physical disability is enough for these books to be important. I have dyscalculia and have been a full-time wheelchair user before. I just know her books were so helpful for kids with similar issues to read.

Addition 2: Vocaloid themed dolls. Specifically, I think it would be fun to make Miku, Rin and Len, but also Nekomura Iroha. I think I'd die for an Iroha custom tbh.
Edit: honestly, I want to make so many of the hello kitty to issho project characters into custom dolls. The fact remains that there is already so little merch of any of them (except honestly Iroha cause she also has a vocaloid). I'd love to make the others too. Especially since most of them already have stories!
Doll Custom Ideas (for myself mostly)
-Josie from McKenna's books. She is my NUMBER ONE most wanted doll, and she doesn't even exist unless I make her myself. Which I will absolutely be doing when I can a. afford to and b. find a cheap doll with a face mold that fits her and light brown eyes. I'm tempted to make her as a CYO, but that is PRICY. I'm okay with trying to replace her wig myself or to restore a wig if I must, but not eye replacement. I also want to get her wheelchair new from AG and customize it myself. Maybe second hand if its cheaper.
-A character who gets lost backpacking in the Appalachian mountains. I'm thinking her story will be set in the early 2000s, probably before I was born. My family has lived in these mountains for ages and I think this could be super fun!
-A Junko Enoshima custom doll. So I'd need a custom wig for this one, but I think it would be super fun! I'd definitely have to learn to hand-sew or find someone willing to make her outfit for me. Which is rough. I always wanted an anime/video game inspired doll, even if it has to be custom. There are 10-12 inch customs out there, but they're not really playline? They're just articulated anime figures. Which is nice, but not what I want.
-I want to make some of the strawberry shortcake characters from 2003 - 2009 into custom dolls, but no idea which ones.
-I've seen Descendants custom dolls, but WHAT ABOUT EVER AFTER HIGH? Cerise Hood custom would be AMAZING.
If and when I have more custom ideas, no matter how loosely fleshed out, I'll update this. And if I even get around to making them, you'd best believe I'll finally get over my fear of doll photography and post them here! I'm sure half of my ideas will be Other Fandoms. I don't care, it makes me happy : )
Edit/Addition 1:
-Wellie Wishers customs of the Disney Fairies characters. (Assuming there won't be an official collab). I'd want to make all the main fairies, and some of my favorite side characters honestly. If I had infinite time and resources, I'd make an army of Disney Fairies Wellie Wishers. I want a Chipper one. Does anyone else remember Chipper? Freaking love Chipper.

She's definitely underrated. Personally, I don't picture myself adding her to my collection unless I find a really good deal secondhand. I have yet to see her in person, but I can't imagine I'd have much use for her in my collection. She's mega cute though! #91 is very adorable though. I hear that the hair looks even nicer in person!
Tumblr media
I love number 91. I am still waiting on a Truly Me Addy mold with fantasy colored hair though I am starting to give up hope. I have a feeling 91 hasn’t sold well since they constantly have her on sale. 😭 I do love her though! She is underrated.

I’ve been thinking about sending Juliet to The Doll Hospital for awhile now. She will be turning 16 in December and I would really like to get a new head for her. I’m not sure if you can tell in these photos, but her wig has never been glued on correctly. Pieces were glued underneath the cap and now it’s the hair parting of her wig is starting to peel up in the front. Also, as I’m sure you can tell, she has a wonky eye.
Have any of you sent your dolls to the hospital? What are some pros and cons? I’m afraid she won’t feel like my Juliet anymore with new parts. Any insight would be much appreciated!
