Carter: Damn straight! We'll see what happens tomorrow re: crying, but today we're good.
Carter: Mom wants you to pick up stuff for your own welcome back party? Also want help with the stuff you're picking up?
Carter: ELYSE IS PROPOSING?!? THIS IS THE BEST!!!
Carter: Does Elyse need someone to stand awkwardly and read a book as part of her proposal? Because I'd be amazing at that.
Minnie: Yeah, I think she's still... processing. We all are. I don't know. It's... complicated. But I'm not the one that gets to say that.
Minnie: But I would love help with the stuff. Especially if the help wanted to drive?
Minnie: SHE IS!!! I'M SO HAPPY FOR THEM!
Minnie: We're, um, actually all dancing to Marry You by Bruno Mars. You'd just be in the instrumental before Elyse came out with mom and dad and the laptop for Elyse's parents.

Carter: Probably a good thing I texted you then because seeing you tear up would make me tear up and it'd be a downward spiral from there.
Carter: By a "whole thing" do you mean a party because... did mom and dad not tell you about the party?
Minnie: Yeah, no crying for the McCoy/Lambert siblings today.
Minnie: .... Yeah, they told me about it. Mom even asked if I could pick some stuff up for it.
Minnie: BUT Elyse also asked if she could propose to Mia at the party, so there's that. I won't be the sole focus.
Minnie: And she's even letting the theater kids (and mom and dad and Eri) get in on it.
Minnie: You could join too. If you, you know, wanted.

Carter: I don't think I said it since you "came back", but I'm glad you did.
Carter: Sorry for doing this through text. It's just... kind of easier than saying it face-to-face. Less chance of me awkwardly crying.
Minnie: Carter!
Minnie: It might be easier for you to not awkwardly cry, but I'm legit tearing up over this text, this is so sweet.
Minnie: (but you don't need to worry, I know you were glad I "came back." It's probably best there wasn't a whole... thing)

he-just-takes-the-pain:
His mind was a flurry of thoughts, but all of them linked inexorably to Minnie. For a year Danny had felt lost, like a piece of him was gone… like his heart had disappeared from beneath his ribs and he’d been expected to continue on without it. But now… now that she was back he felt whole, like the best part of him was back. Because that’s what she’d always been, the best part of an otherwise unremarkable guy.
Minnie’s lips trailing kissed down his torso brought him back to the present moment. “Yeah. Yes. Yes, it’s okay,” he nodded, his words shaky from anticipation. Still Danny did his best to at least appear to be calm-ish.
Kissing his thigh, her heart was pounding in her chest, a million different thoughts and emotions running through her head. She didn’t do this much, it wasn’t something Danny demanded of her and she never thought she was particularly good at it. But she wanted to make Danny feel good, as good as he made her feel. Besides, how many nights had she and Jordan stayed up, talking and gossiping and trading tips like this? Okay, truthfully, it was more Jordan giving tips and Minnie listening. And it wasn’t like she had never done this before. She could do this.
Taking a breath, Minnie glanced up at him one more time, keeping eye contact with him as she lowered her head to the sensitive part of him, pressing her lips to the tip, kissing it, and kissing it again, one hand wrapping gently around him as she did so.

Having Minnie there, in his arms… it all still felt like some beautiful, lust tinted glorious dream, but it was real. She was real and Danny wasn’t going to let her go and hope she never got sick of him. Maybe that made him weak, but he didn’t care. As Minnie’s lips slipped from his, grazing over his jaw, his chin, before finding his neck, Danny’s pulse quickened. It felt almost as though his heart was trying to fight its way from his chest that he was certain Minnie would be able to feel it beneath her fingertips.
She could feel his heartbeat. The thought brought a smile to her lips as they brushed his skin. It made her happy to know that she had the same effect on Danny that he had on her. A part of her knew that some people thought she was crazy to love one person as much as she loved Danny. And maybe she was. Maybe, if things hadn’t worked out as they had, with this weird second chance deal and she was gone, or if she had never died at all, maybe things would be different. Maybe they would’ve been a “high school couple” cliche and broken up. But she just couldn’t see herself wanting to be with anyone else. Everything was better when he was there. So maybe she was crazy. Maybe she was dumb, naive, and crazy. But she was in love with this boy. She was so, so in love with him. Which was why, even as her own heartbeat picked up, her lips continued the trail down his body, her hands as well. She kissed his chest, his stomach, the slight muscle he had gotten from lacrosse playing, his hip bone, until there was only one place left. She glanced back up at him, still by one of the most sensitive parts of him, but not wanting to do anything until she was sure. “Still okay?” She breathed quietly, pressing another kiss to his hip.

His brain was in a fog, thoughts like wisps of smoke, flickering in and out of focus. The only thought that came through clearly was Minnie, beautiful and warm, re-positioning them so that she was straddling him. And then her lips were on his and it felt like nothing else mattered. After a moment he pulled away slightly, the corners of his lips quirking up slightly before he realized exactly what he’d said to Minnie to get them in their current positions and shook his head slightly. “You don’t have to… I wasn’t… I don’t want you to think that you have to.”
Her heart pounded in her chest so hard she thought that if it could, it would beat right out of her. But she wanted to do this. She wanted to make Danny feel as good as he made her feel. Jordan had told her once that sex was a symbiotic relationship, when you made the person you were with feel good, it made you feel good. And Minnie had held onto that in her heart, and when she and Danny started having sex, she found that to be true. She liked when Danny felt good, it made her feel amazing. “I know,” She said, “I want to.” She leaned into him again, kissing him, letting her lips linger against his for a moment, before they found his jaw, his chin, the lacrosse scar there. A smile ghosted over her lips as she kissed it, before her lips dipped to kiss his neck, her hands beginning to slowly run down his chest.

he-just-takes-the-pain:
“Thank you. I read up just in case the opportunity for Shakespeare presented itself.” He’d read it because he’d spent time reading all of Minnie’s favorites while she’d been gone… dead. It was a way for Danny to try and keep some part of her alive. He’d failed because it’d only served to remind him of her absence, but he’d tried. Though he couldn’t tell Minnie that. It was too sad… pathetic. He didn’t let himself think on it too long, focusing only on what Minnie was saying, and nodded. “Okay,” he murmured, a delayed reaction after her lips were on his again. One of his hands found its way from her hip, across her belly, down until his fingers brushed against her warm, wet folds. “Do you want to try being on top?” he murmured against her lips, his brain only vaguely aware of what he’d just said.
Minnie felt his hand travel back down to her folds again and gasped quietly. When she heard his words, a small wave of hesitation hit her. She didn’t have much practice with being on top, if any at all. She wanted to do it right. She wanted it to be as good for him as it always was for her. And she was nervous she wouldn’t be able to deliver on that. But she had wanted to try new things since coming back, and this was definitely that. And it was Danny. She trusted him more than she trusted almost anybody else in the world. If she was going to do this with anyone, she wanted it to be him. “Okay.” She said, before pulling back for a moment, trying to readjust them so she was on top of him, straddling him. A moment later, she was. She smiled in what she hoped was at least a little bit of a sexy way down at him. “Hi,” She said, leaning in to kiss him again, her heart pounding with adrenaline and nerves, but also with lust and love.

“Okay.” Was there anything he would’ve said no to if Minnie asked? “Okay, a little longer.” No, she could’ve asked for the moon and Danny knew he would’ve gone to work figuring out a way to pull it down for her. “Though if it turns into morning outside and you’re trying to sweet talk me with some ‘it was a nightingale, and not a lark’ business… it will absolutely work.” He wanted more of her, all of her, wanted to breathe her in. “Whatever gave you back can’t take you away. Not ever.”
She giggled softly against him. “Good use of your Shakespeare.” For a moment or two, she just kissed him, letting herself get lost in the feeling of kissing him, of being kissed by him. But then she heard him speak again, and she was once again reminded that this wasn’t a normal night. That she wasn’t a normal girl anymore, not really. Things were different. But she didn’t want to focus on those parts, not right now. She would drive herself crazy. Instead, Minnie thought of the important things: her life, her passions, all the people in it, including Danny. Pulling back a little, she looked at him. “I’m not going anywhere,” she said, “I’m not leaving you again.” It was the closest thing to true she could say, because it was the only thing she could say she meant. Leaning in, she kissed him again.

“I should take you home,” he murmured against her lips, but couldn’t make himself pull away from her, pull away from the kiss. It was so much at once and yet Danny didn’t want to stop. “I don’t want to take you home yet though,” he then admitted, already feeling himself reacting to Minnie again.
She shook her head, pulling him closer. “It’s not time to go home yet. We’ve got all kinds of time.” She wasn’t sure if that was true, but it felt true, and that was what was important. She had left a note at home before she had went to the promposal, telling her mom she was with Danny, so she wouldn’t have to worry. She pulled him a little bit closer. “Just a little longer. Okay?”

“You sure?” Danny ought to have stopped, taken her home, but he wanted a few more moments with Minnie. That wasn’t true, he wanted so many more moments with her… an infinite amount of moments with her. He wanted to forget that the rest of the world had ever existed, wanted there to be just the two of them until they’d exhausted each other… and ever after that.
She nodded against him, still kissing him. Minnie wondered if this was still “making up for lost time,” if some part of her deep down knew they had been apart for a little over a year. She almost didn’t care. She just wanted to take this moment with him -and all other moments she had- and hold onto them for as long as she could, commit them to memory as best she was able. “I’ve never been more sure.”

“Me too,” he nodded, the pads of his fingers tracing shapes over any inch of Minnie’s bare skin he could reach. He remembered some saying about home not always being a place, but a person. To him that’s what Minnie felt like, like he could be anywhere in the world and if she was there with him Danny would always feel like he was home. And right now home was the backseat of his truck and he wanted to stay there with her for as long as she would possibly allow. “We can stay here for a while longer… all night if we want.”
Minnie’s fingers lazily ran through his curls, playing with some of them. Logically, she knew they couldn’t really stay there all night. They would get hungry or one set of parents would call or the other. They’d have to leave eventually, but it was still a nice thought, to just stay there with him and not have to think about anything but them and this moment. As he touched her, she felt the sparking of life again, and it was still so hard to come to terms with what happened. But that was for another day, another night. Not this one. “Okay,” she said, leaning in, brushing her lips against his. “Sounds good.” She pressed her lips to his.

he-just-takes-the-pain:
If it was anyone else he might’ve corrected them that no, he was not amazing, that everything he would do would be fine, but nothing particularly special, but when Minnie said it he believed her. He believed her because he wanted it, he wanted to do all those amazing, wonderful, brilliant things she thought he was capable of accomplishing. Not just for her, not just so she would be proud of him, but for himself. But also for her because he wanted to see him succeed, because though he’d never said it, in his mind he told whatever forces had brought Minnie back that they were never taking her back.
Minnie was quiet for a few moments, content to just lie there in his arms, kissing him, after their moment of passion. She was safe and happy and content and warm. In a lot of ways, Danny was her safe space. He made her feel good. That was what Jordan had said when The Rumor had broken out back in high school: find Danny. It made putting all of the other thoughts racing through her head aside easier. “I wish the world could just be the two of us.” She murmured eventually, moving to press a kiss to his shoulder. It was a silly, frivolous thing to wish for, and yet, just for the moment, she did.

he-just-takes-the-pain:
He hadn’t quite caught his breath, but Minnie it didn’t matter. “Yeah?” he murmured, giving her a goofy little lopsided smile. “Good because I want you to fly,” he pressed a kiss to her shoulder, “and touch the stars,” a kiss to her neck, “and everything else,” and finally pressed his lips to hers. That he made her feel that way gave him a sense of unearned pride. Pride that he could inspire that feeling in Minnie and unearned because he’d always seen her as amazing all on her own. “You’re going to do amazing things, Minnie. So many amazing things.”
Her eyes closed as he kissed her before his lips touched hers. She kissed him back immediately. She felt warm inside, bubbly. She wasn’t sure how to describe it. It wasn’t the first time she had been content to be back, there had been moments with her mom and Mickey and Jordan and other moments with Danny, but still, it was appreciated all the same. Still, she hoped she stuck around to see the amazing things he thought she was capable of. Moving one of her hands out of his hair, he cupped his cheek, and pulled back to look at him. “So are you, Danny. I know I’ve told you before, but I want you to hear it again: you’re amazing, Daniel Osbourne. You’re going to do amazing, wonderful, brilliant things.” She paused for only a second, using the second of hesitation to kiss him. “I can’t wait to see them.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll be all right,” he shook his head, smiling as his leaned closer, his lips brushed against hers as he tried to catch his breath. “I love that when you lean in to whisper it’s almost as though I can feel your lips against my earlobe.” It felt like a hackneyed thing to say, but his mind wasn’t forming too many sentence. All he could think was that he loved her. That he loved her and didn’t want to let her go.
Minnie giggled as she tried to catch her breath. “I love the way you make me feel. Like I can do anything. Be anything.” For everyone’s talk about how special and great she was, Minnie never really believed it. Like she had always said, she was average. The extraordinary people were Mickey and Jordan and Danny. She was usually okay with being average, with being the support for them, but it was one of the reasons she loved Danny, because he rejected the fact that she was just average or a side character. He really thought she could do anything. And that made her think it just a little bit too. “Like I can fly and touch the stars or something.”

he-just-takes-the-pain:
It felt there was nothing else in the world at that moment, only them, and just the way Minnie said his name, the way she tightened around him, the way… the intensity of how good she felt, overwhelmed him. “Minnie,” he gasped out and then it felt like a wave hit him, pure, raw, explosive pleasure coursing through him. Unaware that he had started trembling, Danny could only form one thought: that he belonged to her, body and soul.
Minnie clung to him as they rode out their highs, kissing him again, pushing her fingers through his hair. Everything felt good at that moment, right. She knew that anything could change on a dime, she could go away again, but for that moment, everything was good and right. Pulling away from him, she looked at him as best she could. “You’re trembling,” she whispered, still playing with his curls. She could stay here with him in this moment forever. A part of her wanted to. To just stay here in the back of his truck where everything was good. And for the moment, she was going to let herself.

he-just-takes-the-pain:
He wanted to say something, anything, so the moment wasn’t just about fucking her in the backseat of his truck. Which… it was, but it wasn’t just that. It didn’t feel like it was just that. It was… Danny felt like he was losing himself in Minnie, overwhelmed by this intense connection that… it should have scared him, but his only thought was that this was what he wanted. His movements were less focused, more erratic, and he could feel himself getting close to the edge, though he wanted Minnie to tighten around him, always wanting her be the one who came first. One of his hands fit between the crush of their bodies, his fingers finding her clit again, urging her on, wanting to make it impossible for her to hold back. Feeling like he might come apart at any moment, the words came from him unbidden, almost gasped out. “My stardust has always loved your stardust.”
Pleasure ran through her, and it was almost overpowering, his thrusts, his touch, she was coming undone. She whimpered again, her hips coming up again. It was hard to stay afloat, to think of anything besides him and his hands and the passion coursing through them. “Mine has always loved yours too. They always will.” She replied, her hand reached up, past him, to the back window of his truck, pressing into the glass there, before coming back down and going back onto him, into his hair. She was close, she was so close, the way he was touching her, she felt herself clench around him again, before shivering. “Danny...” Minnie breathed out, before letting go, waves of pleasure overtaking her, letting go.

he-just-takes-the-pain:
He was doing his best to hold back, but everything Minnie did only served to urge him on, wanting him to give in. “Tell me if you want to stop.” And then Danny gave himself permission, allowed himself to give in. He was wanting, taking, thrusting into her, hard, fast, with an intensity that overwhelmed him, that made him want more, made him want to fuck Minnie until they were both exhausted.
She moaned when his thrusts grew more intense, holding onto him as the sensations rocked her. She kissed him again as he trust into her. Her hips arched up to meet his as best they could, matching his pace as best she could. She could feel herself getting closer to the edge, to coming undone, and she shivered as she felt herself clench up around him. She wanted this, she wanted him. She wanted this moment. She had never been sure of any of this stuff before Danny, didn’t know how anyone could just give themselves to another person in one of the most intimate ways, but Minnie was always sure with Danny, even those first few times when things were awkward and new and scary, she always knew she wanted it to be with Danny.
