Stop putting your hand– He grabs my wrist and yanks me forward, holding my palm a breath away from the fireplace – in the fire. I writhe. He hurts me: my wrist, my hand, my fingers where the skin is tight.
When He lets me go, I run to cool water and balm. And I do not put my hand again close to the flames that have burned me. I am, His handprint livid on my skin, learning.
The Lightbearer does not bar my way when I walk into traffic or toward the edge of crumbling disaster. He watches, maelstrom eyes distant as stars, as I plummet, crash, bleed. And His voice scourges my ears as He asks, What have you learned? I do not walk that disastrous path again.
I do not wish my hand held in some gentler, consoling grip. Purge me of frailty and falsehood; rip the scales from my eyes no matter how the skin clings. O Loveliest Vice, shatter me that I may rebuild myself stronger and veined in gold.

Happy belated birthday, finntheluciferian!
I didn’t have your address to send you a card, so opalborn was so very kind as to let me commission something much better from her for the occasion.

I have not. Honestly I’ve done a poor job at upkeeping my altar. Since we have moved (something which has occurred since I had written the above) I have not even bothered to pull the pieces from their boxes. My statue of death has broken. His hands. I find that cruelly symbolic in a way.
I do not know if I will ever reassemble my altar or if I will simply allow my existence to be the altar of my faith. Either way, my cat is missed and I wish him the best beyond the veil.
Around Christmas my cat went missing. As of yesterday I have begun walking in a room to see him curled up in a chair only to stretch and then disappear.
I feel the pagan community is the only I can say I see the ghost of my cat and very few will think me insane.
Well, at the very least, I’m glad he made his way home.

Dabble
Lesser known fact about myself is that I am very passionate about language. I find it beautiful. A hobby I have adopted is looking up words that I use frequently and re-learning their definition.
Dabble
Verb
1. Immerse (one’s hands or feet) partially in water and move them around gently
synonyms: dip, paddle, trail
2. Take part in an activity in a casual or superficial way
synonyms: toy with, trifle with, tinker with, dally with
I find the first definition to be beautiful. Simply reading it conjures images of cool water, a fresh stream, the smell of sunlight.
The second part is a harsh contrast. It is almost negative in connotation. To superficially take part in something makes less of its importance. It does a disservice to the activity. Of course, this greatly depends on the activity. Dabbling in stamps, for instance, is far different than dabbling in relationships, dabbling in spirituality, or dabbling in spell-work.
How many of us treat the gods as a personal tool? How many of us are not mindful of the spells we cast? Be mindful of the words you use. Often we see new pagans focus on poetic spells only to find something unintended come about. Take time to learn the meaning of chosen words. Be direct in purpose.
Learning about a new religion is all well and good. It helps bridge gaps and allows us to become more compassionate of others. But do not casually dip your hands in to retrieve what you want and discard the rest. Do not proclaim loyalty to a god one week only to ignore everything they command when it does not fit your lifestyle.
Take time to learn. Take time to understand. Be respectful when you approach and show the same courtesy should you leave.

June 23, 2015 Entry Four: Spirituality
The word spirituality will always conjure images of tiny churches scrubbed clean, southern accents, women smelling of amber, and wrinkled hands pressed together in prayer. Spirituality is lacy dresses, scuffed Mary Janes, apple juice and graham crackers in Sunday School. Spirituality is ‘AND THE LORD SAID’ spoken loudly to wake up those falling asleep in the pews. Spirituality is climbing over tombstones while my grandfather gave a sermon to mourners. Spirituality is the crinkling of thin pages of the ‘B-I-B-L-E, yes, that’s the book for me’ and the family names written in the inside cover.
And spirituality is years and menarche later standing under a full moon and uttering reverence to the All-Mother. Spirituality is a handfasting before a wedding. Spirituality is speaking spells to cake batter and drawing sigils in icing. Spirituality is dancing with the trees during a rainstorm.
And spirituality is returning to church because the gods became silent.
And spirituality is leaving church because the congregation was too loud.
My roots may be in Christianity but it was only the foundation of my spiritual home. It has cracks and splinters in its planks but glory in its varnish. Paganism became my walls, strong to hold up the roof of stars. Perhaps one day paganism will only be an accent wall. Today I am not concerned.
Spirituality conjures an image of a home that, at times, feels like a prison. Doubt scurries like disease ridden insects and grows like mold in the corners.
‘Keep it at bay. Eradicate it.’
But always does it grow back. Always the ‘click, click click’ as it scuttles
I have no roof on my home. If I do I feel my home would then become a cage. There are times when it rains so that I am soaked to the bone and crying out and detesting the floors and the walls. The mold grows fast then.
But then there are times when it is not raining and I may I look up and see the stars.
And there is glory.

Currently I am only following one blog
If you know of a blog that posts spiritual thoughts/prompts/etc, please feel free to recommend. I would prefer not to follow blogs that post a hodgepodge of topics but, instead, stay focused on spirituality, development, and/or culture.

The Blogger is Back
AGoodPaganWife is the neglected outlet of ‘V.’ Operating since 2011 (originally under the name of barefootkitchenwitch), it has varied in subject matter but has stayed central to the themes of food magik and death culture.
Paganism as interpreted by the blogger:
A person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions. Paganism is not restricted to the worship or idolization of nature. Paganism does not require any gods to be worshiped or followed. Paganism does not require the use or practice of magik.
Magik vs Magic:
This blogger spells magik--as it refers to lifestyle/religious/cultural/etc practices--with a k. This is done to differentiate it from magic as it is seen in media for entertainment purposes.
Worshiping vs Following:
This blogger sees worshiping as the show of reverence and adoration of a deity. It is an act of dedication where a deity is exalted by the individual.
The blogger sees following separate from worship. Following implies a relationship that resembles a teacher/student relationship. While the deity still posses a greater power and status than the one following them, a request made by the deity can be ignored or argued against without negative consequence.
Current information about the blogger (any of the following are subject to change):
This blogger does not practice magic daily
This blogger does not worship any deity
This blogger is not Wiccan nor do they follow the Wiccan Rede
This blogger has no preference of pronouns. She/her/he/him/they are all acceptable but refrain from the use of ‘it’ as the blogger is not an object.
This blogger accepts the name ‘V’ as it is the first letter of their chosen name.
Information about this blog:
The bulk of this blog is in the process of being deleted due to it containing material that is contrary to current beliefs. The hope is that confusion will be minimized.
This blog posts pictures and articles about death. Given that death culture is the intended primary focus of this blog, these posts will not be tagged. If death triggers the reader, it is recommended they unfollow.
Thank you for your time.

Holy places are dark places. It is life and strength, not knowledge and words, that we get in them. Holy wisdom is not clear and thin like water, but thick and dark like blood.
