Giving the Love

I am nominating my mom, @mommagriswold, to win one of the prizes left. She not only filled the role of mother, father, friend, and role model but made me who I am today. My dad left when I was 5 years old. It sucked. So much so that I doubted a lot of what I did. I had no confidence and I was a very serious child. Needless to say, it scared my mom, but she loved me through my worst years. I learned from her that life is about what you make of it, not what you have. We lived from paycheck to paycheck, something I didn’t know until I was older (She refused to tell me that our house was in foreclosure until I was off at college and my year was paid for). We may not have had money but my mom made our life the best that we ever could have asked for. We never had a Christmas without presents because she would start buying them one at a time from August on. She rolled up the carpet so that we could skate in our socks on the wood floor. She let us ride our bikes around the house. She celebrated every holiday to the fullest so that the holidays that weren’t as good as other family’s didn’t seem so bad. She wasn’t worried about building her credit or how she would afford a new car. She didn’t care that all she got for her birthday and Christmas were presents from the Dollar Tree (She would give my brother and me each $5 to go shopping for her). She cared about us more than anything in the world. She made sure we had a roof over our heads and food on our plates. I would not be who I am without her today. I would probably still be sad, depressed, and confused about who I am. Instead, I am a successful teacher who can share the love she gave to me with others. I am a happy, joyful, caring, and humble person. I learned through her that the kindness you show to others gives you joy and that all of the small joys in life are much bigger than you would think. I got more joy out of dancing in the house to Grease than I would have ever gotten out of a new toy or a long trip. My mom deserves a prize because she is the most caring, generous, loving person I know. She deserves a prize because without her I would not be here. She deserves a prize because after everything she has given me, this is one small joy that I can give back to her.

The Life of a Teacher!

Me1: Teaching is great! You get to work with children and make a difference in the world.

Me2: Children?!?! They are the spawn of satan! Those little boogers do everything they can to get on your nerves.

Me1: Sometimes, but there is nothing like the look on their face when they get something right after working really hard on it.

Me2: How much work did you have to put in to get them there though? Some kids just stare at you with those blank looks not even trying.

Me1: If they give you that look then you just have to research other ways to help them out. Use all of the possible strategies that you can find.

Me2: Research? Who wants to research when they go home for the day? I mean, I can get a secretary job, work my eight hours, go home and do nothing.

Me1: You could do that... Or you can feel accomplished when you finally find a strategy that works for a kid that just didn't get it. Then your work pays off.

TV, Animals, Dancing, and Magic

2:55 a.m. 😴 Tiredness has set in but now I guess 30 more minutes is worth it! I really want the soul contract if it hasn’t been taken yet. As I waited anxiously for the next challenge (could you guys take any longer?) I continued my watching of How to Get Away with Murder. Our very own Matt Cohen joined the cast and then was taken away for drugs…. Allegedly! Free Levi. 3:00 Keating catches someone in a lie. 3:02 I feel like everything is hearsay in this show. 3:04 Keating is with her lesbian lover again. This time is different though. The chemistry isn’t there. 3:05 I lied, they still love each other. ❤️ 3:06 Ohh my gosh!! Asher let people gang rape a girl. 3:07 I realize how boring my life is and how often I am updating this blog. I’m glad I don’t do this all the time and choose to live in the moment. Maybe I’ll wait a couple of minutes before my next update. Also, SPOILER ALERT for people who haven’t watched this season. 3:09 Another hearsay. 3:10 Lahey killed his wife but the nurse thinks it’s okay. 💊 3:11 Uh Oh! His lawyer is stumped… I think she’s bombing it on purpose. 3:12 Pee break! 🚻 3:15 Craving McDonalds… 3:17 I stubbed my toe on the way to get water. Now I’m laying on the floor staring at the sorting hat from Harry Potter. 3:19 I got up. 3:20 I never realized how loud my floor creaks. Take THAT neighbor downstairs! 💃🏼 3:21 How much time is left in my 30 minutes? 3:22 Nevermind. I figured it out. 8 more minutes:) 3:23 Wondering what I should read after Under the Dome. I already read all three of my Supernatural books… Maybe Game of Thrones? 📚🐉 3:24 Back to H2GAWM. 3:25 I just realized that I have an octopus staring at me on one side and an owl on the other. 3:26 Are you supposed to put times in a live blog? 3:28 ALLMOOSSSTTT THERE! 3:29 I just realized that I could have stopped at 3:25. Tumbler No More

Once upon a time there was an amazing tech man. He had a dream job working for a company that was about to really take off. It was the dream job he had always hoped for. Then, the worst day of his life happened. He spilled coffee on his brand new white shirt. He tripped over the loose floorboard, that wasn't there. It was raining outside and the taxi, instead of picking him up, drove through a puddle and soaked him to the bone. The water helped with the coffee smell, but that's beside the point. When he finally arrived at work he felt better. He was calm, in his happy place. Today was the day the company was officially going to launch their site. He sat at his desk, made sure everything was ready to go, called in his boss, and pushed LAUNCH. Little did he know, his worst day was continuing. Tumblr showed on computers all around the world. He was fired on the spot. Who could forget the "E"?!? He now fixes computers at a local shop and hates the mistake of missing one letter. Meanwhile, the company is happy with the change. It makes them unique, catches people's eye, and keeps everyone guessing.
