"About 6 months, give or take." He shrugs. It has been an adjustment for sure, given that he no longer had his lavish home and was confined to an apartment. He wonders, briefly, if this is how Kaveh felt in his company.
"I was never one for sentimentality, but I do miss the familiarity of home. My library, in particular. And my job. It was easy work."

"i've never much been picky, i'm no better than paimon, just a bit less greedy about it." she replies easily, relieved to see another familiar face around here. "how long have you been stuck here, then?"

Alhaitham was no artist — not like his former roommate. Nonetheless, there was something calming and serene about these statues, carved with the deliberacy only a master was capable of. Kaveh once spoke of things like this, of the subtle contrapposto, of the liveliness they had in this garden of stone.
There is someone else admiring the statues, someone... he can't place his finger on it, but they seem familiar. Alhaitham wanted to know more of them, ever driven by curiosity as he was. "Peaceful, is it not?"

"I see." Alhaitham looks down at the folder, and shifts just enough to allow the other man to grab what he needed. He didn't move one inch more or less, given that he was extremely comfortable.
"Go on."
being an author, it wasn't unusual that the library was one of his top frequented places. it always, without fail, provided solace; an area of quiet in a world that lacked it. whether he was looking for a new read, or working on stuff of his own, it was the one place that chaos didn't follow him, allowing him to just be. having briefly stepped outside to take a phone call, his shoulders relaxed upon reentering the building, the stress of work-related matters washing off of him with ease. what he hadn't been expecting was someone who'd taken up the seat next to his, dark irises fixing on the closed folder by the other's feet. “ ah– something of mine is... ” he pointed.

"I've always worn them. I find noise to be... overwhelming." He clarifies. He understands some might perceive his attachment to the device as rude, but it simply brought him comfort. That should be enough of a reason to wear them.
Tumblr media
"Alhaitham." He says in response. "Do you make a habit of talking to strangers?"
Tumblr media
"Do you normally put headphones on in a public place or is that just something you do where you are from?" Mazikeen asked curiously as she sat down across from the man at the table. She was going to ask him if she could sit there, but by now, she was impatient and she sure as hell wasn't going to ask now. That wasn't really her style. "Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Mazikeen."

The noise Alhaitham makes sounds contemplative — if not irritated. "It seems strange that someone should come to a place of learning with no business at all." He comments.
Tumblr media
"I'd recommend you tread carefully in the future. Some might misunderstand your insistence to stand near them as unwanted attention."
The library is not his leisure location of choice; not by a long shot, but there are at least people to talk to, if he can manage to snag their attention. It's easier than he expected, in fact, apparently only needing to make a shadow for eyes to meet his own. "Who says I have any business at all?" Lee Rang asks, raising an eyebrow as the other addresses him so stoically. "It's a public library, anyone can go where they like, and maybe I only wanted to stand right here." He taps the floor with one foot.

Alhaitham looks down. So he was. He was so comfortable that he didn't look before he sat down apparently. Rather than being offended by the matter-of-fact delivery, he shrugs before standing up and examining the jacket. It didn't look damaged by his intervention, to say the least.
"In that case, excuse me." His next course of action is simply moving to the empty seat next to him.
Silco was finding himself reading more, he had a lot more time with Jinx not remembering and everything going on he was just a bit lost. He normally had a direction, back home no matter how dark it was he had a plan. Now he didn't. He had collected some books from the library and went back to the table where he had placed his stuff to see someone else sitting there. "You're sitting on my jacket and that is my bag. I would quite like them back." He blinked slowly. His damaged eye still glowing slightly in the shadows of the stacks of books.

"I didn't take you for a coffee drinker." There it was again — the small talk he loathed so very much. Though this face was one he recognizes, despite being in a land he still had yet to call home.
Alhaitham sits down across from her, his own cup of coffee bold and void of any additional additives. He was due for some social interaction for the day.

"This is perfect weather for doing nothing at all."
He says, idly. He didn't particularly care who was listening – though there was someone close by, enough so in range that they might be inclined to respond. Small talk was something he typically loathed, but it was a necessary tool when it came to gathering information and things of the like. Now didn't happen to be such an occasion.

Was that [TONI MAHFUD]? Oh no no, that was just [ALHAITHAM], a [CANON CHARACTER] from [GENSHIN IMPACT]. They are [TWENTY EIGHT] years old, use [HE/HIM], and [ARE] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long.
how long has your character been here
Alhaitham has been in Washington D.C. for approximately six months. Despite this, he seems to have settled into a daily routine as well as established some semblance of a life.
what is your character's job
Alhaitham is employed at American University at the office of the university Registrar. It is his responsibility to process registration requests and manage academic records.
where has your character been pulled from in their fandom
Just after the events of A Toast to Victory.
has any magic affected your character
Other than his arrival, he hasn't noticed anything peculiar.
and any other information you might find useful for us and the other members to know!!
Alhaitham may seem cold, but he's warm at his core. Once he warms up to you, he can be an extremely loyal friend — despite his ever-so logical disposition.

The library was a peaceful place, one where Alhaitham was more than glad to clear his head. The circumstance of his recent arrival was an uncomfortable one to say the least, not to mention that the script used in these texts was… lacking. It was by some miracle that he was able to understand it — each stem and joint disappointing to the eye, each serif over accentuated to give life to the bland typography.
Alhaitham sits with his headphones planted firmly atop his head, as to eliminate any distractions, and focuses on the book before him. He's immersed until a shadow overcasts the passage he was reading. Someone or something was either attempting to communicate with him, or disturb his reverie. Regardless of what it is, he marks his page and closes his book before sliding his headphones so they sit firmly around his neck.
« state your business. » He says, simply.
