Six basic human emotions are universally recognized but other positive emotions are culturally specific. Humen use a wide range of different cues, both verbal and non-verbal, to share important information and particularly to warn others of danger.
As ever, theorists disagree. Ortony and Turner (1990) collated a wide range of research on identification of basic emotions.

Psychological research helps us understand human thoughts and behaviors. Research methodology can be a deceptively difficult field to analyze. Research in psychology and the social sciences can be especially difficult to grasp because often the variables must be defined before they can be tested. Unlike in chemistry, where one chemical can be mixed with another and the effect analyzed, to analyze the effect of, say, stress on aggressive behavior, the variables “stress” and “aggression” must be defined in quantitative terms. There are some conventions in social research that make it easier to determine whether or not a psychological test is effective.

Stress can be both Physical and Psychological.
Physical stress arises as a result of our body response to physical stressor like work, noise, an illness, exercise etc while psychological effects of stress may occurs when our mind perceives an inability to cope with a “challenge” of some kind.
Very Often, the physiological and psychological reactions to stress will tend to interact and react with one another to produce additional stress.
Basically, there are 5 different components of psychological stress and these include:
1.      Pressure
This is a common complaint In today’s busy lifestyle where we are often faced with an internal or external demand to complete a job, task or activity within a limited time frame.
2.      Frustration:
When we can’t complete or accomplish a task assigned to us or when we can’t get what we wanted, frustration sets in.
3.      Conflict
Arises when we have to make a decision or choice between 2 alternatives
4.      Threat
When you felt the presence of an impending danger, you felt threaten

Healthy Adaptation to Stress is a Conscious Choice
Upon encountering stressors you have two choices:
To adapt to the situational demands and “go with the flow” by doing something to create change or otherwise ameliorate the situation, or
To “mal-adapt” by withdrawing or pushing beyond normal expectations in an effort to make the stress disappear. Sometimes “easier said than done,” adapting may require repeated conscious effort.

Are you searching for a stress management technique that doesn’t feel like work? Doesn’t stress management feel…stressful sometimes? What if you could find a stress management technique that was easy to do, effective, and made you feel great?
Friends and Food
A good, healthy meal reduces stress, and a good meal shared with close friends reduces it even more. Social support is one of the most important factors in stress resistance. Inviting a few friends for dinner, or taking a special friend out to dinner may significantly reduce your stress.
Humor
Humor is a great stress management technique. Laughter releases endorphins, and endorphins make you feel good, so do something that makes you laugh. Go to a comedy club, tell corny jokes with a friend, or just watch a funny movie or old sitcom–how can you not laugh at Lucy and Ethel? Laughter is good medicine, and humor is a wonderful stress management technique.

As humans we experience many types of emotions. They are often classified as positive or negative emotion. Some lists contain up to 1000 different ways of expressing emotions.
There is some confusion over whether emotions and feelings are the same thing. We freely talk about how we feel when describing emotional states, and use the words interchangeably. Actually, there are only three types of feelings: pleasant, unpleasant, and neutral. We feel these as sensations in the body.
When you say, “I feel anxious, angry, happy…”, You are interpreting the emotion by how it feels to your mind and body.

Reliability and validity of psychological tests vary with how they are used.
Psychological tests have highest reliability and validity when administered and interpreted by a qualified mental health professional. Though psychological tests are useful, no test or combination of tests can completely assess a person, because human psychology is too complex.
Definitions
Reliability refers to whether a test is consistent, over time, in its results. A good test must also be internally consistent. Validity refers to whether test results describe a person’s actual behavior. For most psychological tests, reliability is higher than validity, which underscores the need for additional information, such as interviews.

You might not know it, but your controlling behaviors are making people batty. Here are a few ways to ease up already.
Control freaks rarely know that they are one. They believe that they are helping people with their “constructive criticism” or taking over a project because “no one else will do it right.” They don’t see their controlling behaviors as symptoms of what’s really going on; their own anxiety has run amuck.
Irrational thoughts abound in our high stress world: If I don’t get this contract, I’ll get fired. If I’m not home by 6:00, I’m a terrible parent. If I don’t get that raise, I suck at my job.  All of these thoughts might be true, but probably not.

Many experts say confidence is an important factor that causes a great difference between success and failure. Therefore, not a few others who gave his views on the techniques of generating self-confidence.
In a very large dimension, success belongs to everyone. However, not everyone knows how to get or achieve success. Most people judge that success belongs to those who have a high IQ, the best graduate schools and choose the most famous specialties.
This assessment is not entirely wrong, but we also have to look at a broader phenomenon, that not a few successful people who are not highly educated. In other words, high IQ, the best school graduate and a renowned specialist support is only part of success.

A psychological test is a measurement instrument that has five defining characteristics:
Behavior Sampling
Standardization
Reliability
Objective Measurement of Difficulty
Validity
Behavior Sampling
“The representative sample of behavior which is under consideration is known as sample of behavior.”
Human sample of behavior is a complex phenomenon. We can’t measure the human behavior. Behavior is used to measure some specific attributes (e.g. introversion) or to predict any cost, because it starts from birth and remains till death. Incidental behavior is not listed in sample of behavior. It is based on specific human behavior. Every psychological test requires the respondent to do something. The subject’s some specific outcomes (e.g. success in a job training program).

Anxiety along with fear is attached to our nervous system. Just like pain, these are signals that signify and notify the urgency of attention. These provide signals of the oncoming threat. The threat can be of any kind, it can be physical, emotional or psychological. It can also be considered as positive signs as they act as an alarm which prepares the body for further reaction. When the body experiences anxiety or fear, it automatically sends out signals that act as a warning. The sympathetic nervous system of the body kicks into gear while pushing out hormones into the bloodstream. This increases the state of arousal while preparing the body to handle the threat.

Here are some of the basic human emotional needs expressed as feelings. While all humans share these needs, each differs in the strength of the need, just as some of us need more water, more food or more sleep. One person may need more freedom and independence; another may need more security and social connections. One may have a greater curiosity and a greater need for understanding, while another is content to accept whatever is told to him.
One of the major problems I have observed in schools is the treatment of all children as if their emotional and psychological needs were identical. The result is many children’s needs are unsatisfied. They then become frustrated, as any of us do when our needs are unmet. They act out their frustration in various ways which are typically seen as “misbehavior.” This is especially evident when children are expected to all do the same thing for the same length of time. The better we identify their human emotional needsand satisfy them, the few behavioral problems.
