I'm female and I always pray alone should I be pray out aloud or quietly?
The fajr prayer and the first two units of maghrib and isha are prayed aloud whether one is alone or in company.
Performing these prayers aloud is recommended but not obligatory. The jurists have differing opinions on women praying aloud. The Hanbali school considers it unnecessary for women to pray aloud (that it is only recommended for men), and some Hanafi jurists think the same. The Malikis say that she should be able to hear herself when praying aloud, but others shouldn’t be able to hear it (i.e. she shouldn’t pray too loudly).
There is general agreement that it is better for a woman not to pray aloud if there are strangers (non-mahrams) around who can hear her praying (the 4 schools, Ibn Baaz, Ibn Uthaymeen).
In your specific case, most scholars wouldn’t have an issue with you praying aloud in the privacy of your home. If your family or community follows a specific school, it’s best to find out that school’s opinion on the matter.
