::ONE OF THE MANY REASONS I SHIP NARU X MAI::
Naru isn’t the most patient of men; he wants to solve a case quickly, but also correctly. So, the fact that all signs were pointing toward Kasai…and he still listened to Mai just shows how much he does actually respect her.
Even as the evidence was piling up against Kasai, the “man of facts” waited. He wasn’t as willing as the others to brush off what Mai felt as wishful thinking. He didn’t mock or ridicule her for feeling that way, not once. He respected her opinion, trusted her gut instinct, and waited for more evidence.
This was the arc that we started to see the real Naru. Sure, he is a narcissistic jerk; but there is more to him than that. And we get to see that right along with Mai.

Unless you’re Mai. In which case he’ll probably think “oh ffs. Now what?”
The Difference between the Davis twins:
Gene: Date someone who will drag you outside at 3am to look at the stars.
Naru: If anyone, and I mean ANYONE, wakes me up at 3am to go look at the damn sky, they will be removed indefinitely from my life.

I honestly feel like Mai and Naru have pretty good communication--especially for teenagers.
After Yasu's case and their argument with the hitogata, they both sought one another out to apologize. That shows a willingness to communicate and a willingness to humble themselves in front of one another.
Naru also opened up to her after the land subsidence theory was proven wrong by Karudo. He told her that he was so angry with himself that he felt sick; he didn't have to offer up that bit of information. He did so because she asked.
Both he and Mai have a conversation regarding her feelings. Naru doesn't just dismiss her feelings; he waits with her while she cries and even attempts to comfort her once her tears have slowed. Mai instigated that conversation because she felt that her feelings shouldn't be left unsaid; even if it was a bad time and uncomfortable, she wanted him to know and he didn't lash out at her for choosing that moment to unload on him.
That is why, in most of my fanfics, I make them talk through it. No matter what it is. I honestly don't think-once Gene is revealed to be her spirit guide-that Mai would keep things a secret without reason or that she wouldn't tell Naru eventually. And I feel like Naru wouldn't be shy about confronting her if he thought she was keeping things from him.

Can we talk about how weird the first episode of Ghost Hunt is?
It starts off pretty average: there's a creepy, old schoolhouse that students have been telling ghost stories about for years. Pretty standard for a ghost anime.
The faculty wants to demolish the building, but due to the haunted rumors and a series of accidents that continuously take place on the premises, no company will take the job.
So the principal hires a ghost hunter to settle the matter once and for all. Okay, sure. If the rumors and the stories are the problem and hiring an investigator will ease everyone's mind, even if it's a placebo effect, that makes sense. Only...he hires on five separate people:
A paranormal researcher
A Shinto priestess
A Buddhist monk
A Catholic priest
A celebrity medium
Bro hit three of Japan's religions and then some like a bingo card and administration said, "Well, this is an expense we're going to be okay with."
Bonus Round: If you haven't actually watched this show, try to guess who is who in the above picture. I dare you.

💯
i love that specific ao3 phenomenon where you get a sudden influx of kudos on a work and it’s clear someone shared your fic but you have no idea who they are or where they shared it. it’s like being a dickensian orphan receiving money from a mysterious benefactor.
