I haven’t posted anything in a long time, but it seems like there are still people here who make stuff, and shoot photos, and discover beauty and it’s not all AI, and garbage. Anyway, here’s a painting I did for my friend for her husband’s birthday. I hope he cries.

It’s been three years since my last post, but now that Tumblr has porn again, I’m back, baby.

When I was a little kid my family had a 1966 GMC that we painted with green house paint. One time when my dad and I pulled into a service station and he went inside, I jumped out of the cab and hid in the back of the truck thinking that I was going to pull a funny prank on him. Little did I know that he was going to the service station in order to pick up a spare tire, which he then threw into the bed of the truck landing it squarely on my head. In my second grade school pictures I actually have a tire tread imprint on my forehead. We had good times in that truck. Anyway, as a warmer-upper for #thegreatahtbmmodelbuildingnerdoff I opted to build a tribute, except it's a Chevy, and the suspension is from a Rubicon, and it's small and made from plastic. Otherwise it's totally the same. If you're interested in taking part, build a model car or truck, shoot photos, and email them to stevil(at)allhailtheblackmarket(dot)com by February 28th. The winner will win stuff, and the losers will not.

GOD'S BALLS. Now that I have those off my chest, I'd like to once again announce the upcoming opening on Friday, October 14th at the NWVSF/PSLY Gallery, 483 14th Street, San Francisco. A retrospective of thirty years of skate and music photography by @bernie, including unpublished photos of: (Skate) Steve Caballero, Neil Blender, Matt Hensley, Mike Vallely, Tod Swank, Jason Lee, (Music) Fugazi, Nirvana, The Dammned, Bad Brains, Die Kreuzen, Tad, Shellac, fIREHOSE, The Make Up, Jesus Lizard, Drive Like Jehu, and more. On hand will be a very limited run of @paisleyskates slick bottom decks to commemorate the show. I don't often times say "you're not gonna want to miss this", but you're not gonna want to miss this.

File under 'what could possibly go wrong?' The trick was to get towed in, through and away from a curb grind without ever letting go of the strap. I gave it a couple shots and it turns out, much like throwing yourself down a flight of stairs without getting hurt, it's considerably harder than one might think.

Orange board, brown pants, green shirt, blue sky. @bicigirl and I went to the skatepark the other day in order for her to get some shots for an upcoming project she's got cooking. In doing so, she snagged this photo of a little frontside slasher in Alameda's corner pocket. Maybe a loose tribute to Mofo's legendary shot of Jay Alabamy? The can was empty because I drank the contents already. I'll add it to my resume. #Over40skateboarding #AHTBMslashNWVSF

I was gonna sit on this for a bit, but why not start pushing it out now? I'm the master of my own destiny, man. Like Joe Dirt said- "life is like a garden. Dig it." Every year for the last eight, I've hosted a party in conjunction with the Interbike bicycle tradeshow in Las Vegas. Every year for the last four I've brought a band in to play. O Zorn!, The Black Jetts, Gaytheist, Lady Sinatra, and this year I've locked down the big rock and roll sounds of Who Rides The Tiger. Truthfully, I probably shoulda had them last year since I'd just released their record, but I get confused, and that was back when I was drinking a lot. This year I'm hosting it with two co-sponsors. @ridehifi, straight outta PDX, and @vynlbikes, purveyors of race bikes you'd drop a deuce for. This year's theme is the black and blue ball, because being bruised is the new Louis Vitton. As always, everyone's invited, and there's no cover. All we ask is you not be a dick. You handle that, we'll cover the rest. Bang the head that doesn't bang. #WhoRidesTheTiger

ATTENTION ANY AND ALL BAY AREA ARTISTS. Last summer @pbr_art held an show in San Francisco featuring a wide selection of Pabst related pieces, which occurred in conjunction with several other shows around the country. The upshot of the whole thing is I ended up being one of three winners, all of whom walked away with a seriously fair chunk of change for our efforts. As the sole Bay Area winner, I've taken on the task of curating this year's show, which will be held at the end of the summer at @nowheresvillesf. My query is this- if you either are, or know a capable artist who would be interested in submitting a piece, get your brushes dusted off, and your pencils sharpened. An official announcement will be forthcoming, but for now, spread the word, and all interested parties can either DM me, or contact me directly at stevil(at)allhailtheblackmarket(dot)com. The aforementioned @bernie took a few photos during our short time together today, and luckily for my ego, he captured one of my rarely successful backside 5-0 attempts. I fucked up more than I didn't fuck up, but such is the plight of a middle aged and broken down man-child desperately clinging to shreds of his rapidly disintegrating youth. #SlappySunday
