pvrnelle:
just as they were about to leave camp, purnelle had volunteered to join a group of maids to do some laundry. having no maids of her own to aid with the load hardly ever bothered purnelle. it was a common chore that had always fallen to her, the youngest lady of her impoverished family. she hardly saw shame in that. it was just a fact of life.
she sat on her calves near the edge of the water, scrubbing at the clothes. the frown on her face was not of displeasure, but of determination. “tricky stain,” she grunted, ready to dunk the garment into the water again.
“Nothing a girl like you can’t handle, hm?” His bones creaked from overexertion and his face was patched with grime, yet the King smiled. The expression was well-intentioned and genial, but a degree of insincerity lurked behind his gilded veil. He reached for a garment that hung on a clothesline and wiped away the dirt and sweat on his face, staining the white cotton. “A slight girl like you would be better suited elsewhere - as a kitchen girl, perhaps, or a governess if you’ve got a sharp mind. Certainly not in the sun toiling away on laundry.”

nvcola:
as soon as aidoneus entered the room, nicola dutifully walked over to her husband and placed her own lips softly against his. the way she moved was almost mechanical, like she was being controlled by some outside force telling her what to do. “it’s nice to see you darling,” she said, as the kitchen hand left the two of them alone in the library. as his eyes scanned their surroundings, she took a deep breath, wondering how long he would stay by her side this time before running off to someone else. “libraries never fail to make me think. there’s so much history, information, untold stories. it’s a room full of untapped potential.”
He spared a flash of a tepid smile as they parted, his fingers lightly grazing Nicola’s skin as he swept a strand of hair away from her shoulder. All he had to do was play the part and leave, but he found himself unfortunately trapped in a verbal exchange. Aidon swallowed an unenthusiastic sigh. Better if you refrained from thinking altogether, he wanted to reply, but he willed his features to form into something remotely pleasant. “How inspiring, my Queen. Poetic. I am grateful that Heaven has blessed me with a woman full of wit and wisdom.” He’d done well to mask his apathy, his tone proud and rich. However, there was still a thrum of a monotony hidden to those who choose to be inattentive.

She resisted the need to correct him for calling her foolish. but instead she smiled her sweetest smile at him. “I meant no disrespect father forgive me. I was only speaking hypothetically.” Her head slowly turned to him, not believing she heard him correctly. “Father…do you mean that?” she asked surprised. It was without a doubt Talia would be an amazing ruler in her people’s eyes. She was not only respected…she was loved by them. However she swallowed down a bit of her excitement. “Either way..weather it is Tristan or I….we both know the King of Norden is going no where soon.”
“Of course, my heart. Simply a slip of the tongue,” Aidon murmured, though he knew better than to dismiss such words. He held grudges with an iron grip, and there were never exceptions, not even for his daughter’s witless chiding. Aidon ignored her question, not quite it the mood to crush his daughter’s aspirations. A woman on the Norden throne? He bit back an incredulous laugh. After a life long lived, Tristan would rise to the crown, followed by his sons and their sons. No Queen would rule. Simply the concept was hilarious. “Have you attended to your mother, Talia?” He grew tired of her quickly, as he did with the rest of his family.

pvllux:
king aidoneus of norden was, and always would be, the greatest asshole he had ever met in his twenty-five years of living. if the nine year old pollux could figure out how to pronounce aidoneus, the king could figure out his two-syllable name. sometimes, he wondered how talia — kind, sweet, and everything this “ man “ was not — had emerged from the walking dick. “ thank you for the advice, king aidoneus.” pollux managed dryly. the problem with kings was that they thought their word would always be law, even to those outside their jurisdiction. pollux took orders from one king and that was on the rarest occasion in which he felt like being submissive. “i will keep your words in mind.”
Huh. Apparently this Bearorian fledgling wasn’t as intransigent as the others. The King gave a dazzling smile, clapping the boy’s back. With a small gesture, Aidoneus dismissed the guards that lingered, then adopted a casual disposition as he rested his forearms on the railings. He had better, more pressing things to attend to, but he figured that he could spare a few minutes with this feeble prince. He was an amusing little thing. “Do you race, boy? Hunt? Joust? Or do you spend all your waking moments sulking over a bridge?” He chuckled. “Wouldn’t surprise me if you did.”

khaileefell:
{ @aidcneus }
Khailee hadn’t intended on spending the night with Aidoneus. She’d just so happened to bump into him while wandering the path outside, and after a brief moment of talking, guards had come to usher them into the nearest room, warning them that a bad storm was coming. Normally Khailee would’ve fought with them to retain her autonomy, but she’d been able to feel the impending chaos; the wind had begun to get wicked, the ocean rocking violently along with it. So she’d followed orders, not as upset as she would’ve been if she hadn’t had Aidoneus there with her. For a while now, he’d been a source of pleasure and attention, two things she constantly craved. She walked into the kitchen, heels clicking against the stone floor. “They take their jobs far too seriously,” she muttered under her breath. Upon reaching the island in the center of the room, she turned back to face Aidoneus with a mischievous smile on her face. Khai hoisted herself up to sit on the structure as she said, “What ever shall we do all night while we’re locked in here?”
Council meetings and council meetings and council meetings. That was all that consumed the King’s recent days, hand-in-hand with his passionate loathing towards all things diplomacy. A necessary nuisance, he’d taken to calling them, ripe with greedy nobles and impatient generals under the command of an apathetic monarch. Any progress made were over petty issues, and the majority of the hour was devoted to disagreements. He’d just been liberated from a particularly distasteful meeting when his path crossed with Lady Khailee, as alluring and coquettish as ever. When they’d ushered them into the kitchens, he’d protested the room itself, not at all minding the company he’d been stuck with. Apparently the matters of safety were out of his hands as the guards relented, sealing the door with a resounding click of the lock. His calloused hands found the edge of the counter across from the girl, his head hung low in frustration. A kitchen, for god’s sake? He let a chuckle escape his lips at Khailee’s question, sounding strained, suddenly remembering the date and time. The storm would past in an hour, maybe two hopefully. “Prepare a feast, perhaps?” He righted himself, turning to lean against the counter with his arms crossed, gaze flickering over her form. There was bravado in his tone and a shadowed look in his eyes. “I’m starved.”

pvllux:
feeling exhausted and slightly hungover, the prince rubbed his palm over his eyes. as he leaned over the gradually decaying wood of the bridge, pollux watched the water pass underneath. he allowed recent events to wash over him. from the death of his father, to the fiasco at his funeral, to the breaking of his engagement, to the journey that lead him to this very bridge. it was insane to think just a few months ago, he was happy. and now, his life had gone to shit.
pollux’s eyes fluttered close as he let out a heavy sigh. when they opened again, he found an audience standing before him. with a goodnatured laugh, he turned to the arrival. “oh, please, you must forgive me for my poor state.”
“Better if you pulled yourself together rather than apologize, boy.” Oh how Aidon loved Bearorian monarchs — daft, weak-willed, and all-too-gullible. It would’ve at least been amusing had the gods tossed the boy-king into his path, or even the unbridled, carrot-headed princess. But to be forced to deal with this? Him? The Spare? It was past insulting. “Would you like some advice, Peter?” It was no request. “Mourn and move forward. You’ll be good as dead if you continue to expose your weaknesses.”

nvcola:
as their boats had docked, nicola stood near the side of the vessel, staring off the side. never had she been surrounded by so much water, been in a place where water was given time to not be frozen. it made her long for home. she was escorted off the ship by some lady in waiting and she quickly dismissed the girl as soon as it was appropriate to. when she was alone, she quickly wandered through the castle they set up camp in, trying to figure out the easiest places she could disappear to when the stress of it all got too much. that’s when she stumbled upon the library and a figure sitting at one of the tables, someone far enough away that she couldn’t quite make them out. “it’s strange here,” she spoke, hoping the person would get the hint and leave her alone to her thoughts. “the air seems…different almost. as if it too is carrying a great weight on its shoulders.”
“Look at the poor boy, Nicola. You’re scaring him.” As appearances were still appearances, it wasn’t long after their arrival that the King of Norden was tasked with attending to his beloved wife. To his annoyance, Nicola was as elusive as ever. He’d finally located her when he caught a flash of silk rounding a corner. Finding her destination to be a library would’ve been disappointing if he’d cared in the first place. A kiss, a few words, and then she’d be another completed responsibility in his long list of tasks. “Move along, boy.” That was all it took to send the kitchen help scurrying. Aidoneus sighed, disinterested, eyes scanning the spines of books engraved with titles he couldn’t care less about. “There’s really no reason to fret over such trivial matters. It’s a library left to rack and ruin. Let’s not be romanticists.”

princess-taliia:
“Father we are in a new land and are surrounded by people who are not all under your command. As much as it pains me to say so …if you are planning something devious I ask you do so intelligently. Some of these people have become my friends and I would be very upset if anything were to happen to them….hypothetically. So please…play nicely.” she smiled at her father. She rested her head on his shoulder momentarily before turning back to the scenery. “Tristan does what he pleases with no regards of others. I only hold so much power of my big brother….are you sure there’s no way I can be the first heir instead? I’d be a better ruler”
“Oh my darling girl...” he croons, twirling a strand of her hair between his fingers, the silken strands slipping through as she steps away. There is a degree of pride in his eyes, an admiration of her poise. But what lurks underneath the thin layer of ice is menacing, deeply insulted in the most dangerous way. “...my foolish girl. So quick to accuse your father of schemes and deception. Tell me, sweetheart, do you see my honor as nonexistent? Don’t we all share the same enemy?” His tone is of a thespian’s, a smooth timbre, though laced with venom. “There’s no need to fret. Every breath I take is for the sake of Norden - for the safety of my family. If that means sacrifice, so be it.” And then softly, as if it’s a dreaded oath: “If it means changing the lines of succession, so be it.”

princess-taliia:
“and of course you mean that playfully father.” she answered him, her own eyes meeting his. They had always been opposites. Talia believed in ruling with her heart while her father’s was with his sword. the thought of them coming to this new …beautiful place..and bringing bloodshed…it made her sick. “have you been playing nicely with the other kings?” she teased.
No. “Ofcourse.” He’d rain hell on those that had threatened his kingdom before they even had the chance to strike. Let his name be known past the confines of the five kingdoms, let them remember what the Norden King did to all who dared to challenge his might. He bade those thoughts to recede as he tended to his daughter, chasing away his disappointments and vexations with a genuine disposition. “I’ve yet to bid my greetings,” he replies. “Maybe it’s for the best.” Another brief chuckle. “I needn’t ask if you’ve been playing well with the other princesses and ladies. But I will implore you to keep an eye on your brother. We’re here to...negotiate. Not to birth bastards.”

Talia had always been an optimist. finding the light even in the darkest of places. granted she missed her home, her kingdom. But standing on one of the balconies, staring at the horizon it’s colors. she forgot her home sickness. The sense of another presence caused her to speak. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” she asked.
"Astonishing, darling." He is a grandiose figure, adorned in fine leather attire with a cape that frames his stature. The smile he spares his daughter is brief, never reaching his steel eyes They were here to wage a war, yet his own son was off with his pants around his ankles as his daughter wastes away at a balcony like some starry-eyed fool. "I'm sure it'll be more beautiful once it burns."

[ intro ]
hello it’s jess again !! For those who don’t know, I play Lady Rionah Vaele and now King Aidoneus (click here if u wanna know how to pronounce it), usually known as King Aidon. I have a million and one things to do tonight so I’m gonna keep it short and sweet.
Born Aidoneus Marcus Augustine Montague I (smh so extra), heir to the Norden throne, Aidon is – for the lack of better words – shady. Some say that the construction of the Kingdom’s walls were inevitable as their Monarchs were known for their secretive nature. Theirs was a nation of shadows and tales of creatures more powerful than man. For years, the Montagues have ruled with an cold and cruel iron fist, and King Aidoneus’ era was no exception. With the Norden crown on his head, no one dares to question his rule.
As a person, Aidon is amiable, compassionate, and witty. Honestly, he’s really not a bad dad (except during his nightly visits to his mistress whoops) as the importance of family and loyalty have been instilled in him ever since his childhood.
Tbh he has the liveliness of Robert Baratheon, the loyalty of Catelyn Stark, the sliminess of Tyrion Lannister, & the devilish good looks of Jamie Lannister (but w/o the incestuous tendencies. I swear).
One of his flaws, is his inability to recognize the difference between vengeance and justice. This is the root of his ruthlessness, but Aidon is kinda different from your stereotypical tyrant because he hides this well. His personality is really contradictory b/c he’ll be give a father a 30 yr sentence for breaking the curfew one hour, and then be seen wearing sunglasses and bermuda shorts as he plays shuffleboard with his kids in the next.
And there’s the overwhelming aura to him. The way he presents himself makes you want to immediately drop into a bow, the way he laughs makes you want to laugh along, but the way how his smile never reaches his eyes makes you want to run.
So, yeah. Shady.
His motive behinds almost all things are the safety of his family and Kingdom. Norden always comes first to Aidon.
I’m still in the process of figuring him out so things may be a bit bumpy at first. Don’t be a stranger to my inbox! Come plot w/ me @ladyrionah !
