music bounced off the walls, people mingling and sweaty bodies grinding against each other as the dj spun a new track. everyone in the club resumed to their normal activities, the brawl that had taken place minutes ago basically forgotten as security escorted the other male outside, leaving aiden with a throbbing headache and slightly discolored jaw ( though he figured it could have been much worse, so he wasn’t complaining ). after assuring his friends he was fine, he moved towards the back area, somewhere more secluded — given he was no longer in the mood to deal with drunk slobs. placing the ice pack he’d received on his jawline, eyes shut as his head leaned into the soft velvet cushion. he stayed in that position for a bit, calm and calculating as he replayed the events until the clicking of heels brought him out of momentary bliss. oceanic hues glanced upward to see the face that matched, a defeated sigh falling from bruised lips when josie was revealed. “look, if you’re gonna yell at me, can we make it quick?”

josiehartford:
the disgust surfaced quicker than she expected it to, though she couldn’t say she wasn’t thankful for the reminder of how he acted normally and his habitual hook-ups. “classy as ever.” her tone was carefully deadpan, not willing to let the annoyance of the reminder of other girls surface. it left a sour taste in her mouth and she wasn’t ready to address that with herself, let alone with aiden. she had too much pride for that, she had been weak once already and she wasn’t planning on letting any slip ups happen again, especially not where he was concerned. the anger bubbled back up at his implication that she had to convince herself of anything and she couldn’t help but snap, “all i wanted was my wallet, you’re the one who was kissing my neck a second ago and the one who thinks that anything will happen again.” taking a deep breath more slowly, she fluffed her hair a little, fixing it back into place after his touch mussed it. “call me crazy, but that doesn’t exactly present as someone who understands he doesn’t mean anything to me.” josie readjusted her top, fleetingly worried it would appear poorly or that someone would see her on her way out, following him to the door. at his implication that she needed to be medicated, she shot him an icy look, once again questioning why she had ever let herself think sleeping with him would be a good idea. “well, actually, now that you mention it, you can go fuck yourself.”
while she continued to work herself up, aiden studied her moves closely — the way her face contorted, how her voice gradually became angrier with each word that dropped from his lips. their game of cat and mouse had been going on long enough for him to memorize the routine. the brunette, on the other hand, seemed to be having trouble realizing that he made such ridiculous comments purely to get a rise out of her and it worked every single time. “i’m just speaking from past experience. you’re the one getting all defensive.” if she didn’t care like she’d claimed, then why the hell was she blowing the whole thing out of proportion? “besides, you don’t need to mean something to someone to have sex with them.” he pointed out in an obvious tone — as if everyone should know this as common knowledge. though his views on intimacy were drastically different than hers, so who was he to say they would ever be on the same wavelength. oceanic hues followed her as she fixed her hair, tongue running over his top teeth as he quietly took in her features. she was still gorgeous ( even in her anger ridden daze ), it was a shame she had to kill the mood with her lack of humor. “i’d rather fuck you, but you’re making that a bit difficult.” his nose crinkled slightly, bottom lip jutting out to form a teasing pout, trying to coax her into changing her mind. regardless of what she said now, he had a strong feeling she’d go back on her word when they found themselves at another monotonous event.

josiehartford:
“extraordinarily delusional, maybe.” josie snorted, rolling her eyes at how he twisted her comment into something positive, nearly complimentary. it was annoying how easily something as simple as that got under her skin, especially from him. “do you? all i’m doing is being honest. would you rather i pretend that you’re everything?” her air was dismissive, so sure the effect he had on her was temporary. he didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, she’d find a distraction soon enough and forget all about him. “don’t want you thinking you meant anything to me. it’s really not that deep.” josie very nearly wanted to give in, wanted to let him continue kissing her neck, but she knew that’d be even more trouble for her. steeling herself, she turned to face him with a glare, made more annoyed by the sudden awareness of how close they were. “why is this so difficult for you to understand?” she asked, wondering how she could truly convince him. “let me spell it out for you. you were a drunken mistake. i’m sure it wasn’t the first time.” she knew she was being spiteful, but it was the only way she could be sure he’d leave her alone. still, she found her eyes flickering down to his lips. “get over it.”
if the brunette thought her words would sting — cause him to back off, then she had another thing coming. aiden was unfazed, his skin thick enough to endure the ugliest of comments and josie’s were amateur at best. “i don’t need you telling me anything.” he clarified, shoulders falling with ease as he took a step away from her, leaving a small gap between them. “i have plenty of girls for that.” shoving his hands inside the pockets of his pants, he wasn’t worried in the slightest, knowing he could find someone else to satisfy his needs — someone who didn’t have a pride complex. though he still wasn’t convinced that she actually meant what she was saying, finding it a bit hard to believe in all honesty. the way her eyes flickered momentarily didn’t go unnoticed either, the smirk on his face only deepening as she continued with her speech. “are you trying to convince me or yourself?” it was a valid question, noting how she’d gotten very defensive over the topic. “you can deny it as much as you want, but it’s just a matter of time before you come crawling back.” perhaps it was bold of him to assume she’d give in, seeing as she was so adamant about not repeating the same mistake. however, he was in no mood to argue, turning on his feet and shuffling towards the bedroom door. “so, will that be all for today? maybe i can get you a xanax to calm those nerves?” the chuckle that released into the air was uncontrollable, but in his defense, her reactions were priceless.

josiehartford·:
josie didn’t know why exactly it shocked her. it was probably just because she had assumed aiden was some spoiled only child, with no concept of thinking of other people. granted, she tried very hard not to pay much attention to him, so it could just be her apathy. even still, it was a weird disconnect with her perception of him. “well, knowing you, her being related to you increases her chances of being an alien.” her quip was half hearted, not wanting to insult his sister, just him. the sigh that left her was very nearly defeated, annoyed that he thought she did it on purpose. it wasn’t like she wanted to come back here after everything that had happened. “i think it’s safe to say i wasn’t in the most sound states of mind,” she remarked dryly, hardly aware of him at her back until he spoke softly near her ear. her breath caught in her throat, eyes fluttering shut as she focused, to not give him an indication he had any effect on her besides annoyance. truthfully, she hadn’t been able to get him off her mind and this was not helping her case. “as if you have a single helpful bone in your body,” she said, voice hushed. “i think i’ll pass.”
it seemed as though the most surface level aspects of each other were unknown, but that wasn’t surprising for two people who rarely ever engaged in conversation unless they were stuck at the same party — and even then, the only effort aiden put in with josie was trying to get laid. however, he still couldn’t wrap his head around why she was so shocked by the revelation. surely having a sibling wasn’t that far-fetched. “right. so what you’re saying is, i’m extraordinary.” his lips curved into a cocky grin, always finding a way to flip the script to work in his favor ( it was one of his better qualities ). “you never quit, do you?” there was amusement laced in his voice, curious as to how long she’d keep denying him until another slip up. he didn’t mind the fact that she was playing the night off as if it meant nothing and maybe it didn’t. all he knew was that she’d enjoyed herself — regardless of whether she’d admit the words aloud. his fingers moved to rest at the curve of her hip, pads digging into the skin as his free hand moved to push brown locks away from her neck, giving him easier access. “c’mon, it’s just you and me here. you don’t have to lie.”

she paused, turning her head to look at him suspiciously, as if she didn’t believe him. “you have a sister?” really, she wouldn’t put it past him to lie, but she was mostly just surprised that she hadn’t heard of the other girl. though she knew very little of him, she knew people who did and it was unusual in her mind that it hadn’t come up. josie made her way to the door he pointed out, a frown splayed across her face at his annoyance. it wasn’t her fault he was keeping her wallet hostage. tugging open the door, she surveyed the room with distaste, trying to recall where she had dropped her bag that night. moving to the bed, she leaned over, taking a peak under, nearly hitting her head at his remark. “seriously? you think i did this on purpose?” she asked him, incredulously, the stare she turned on him suggesting that she thought he was a complete idiot. “not to mention that that is way more information than i ever needed to know about you. truly.” nonetheless, when she reached under, she found her little black wallet and felt a wave of relief rush over her, breathing out a sigh of relief.
after years of knowing someone, you’d think to have more insight on their personal life, but aiden wasn’t exactly an open book — especially when he didn’t want to be. he had a certain image to maintain and unless the opportunity asked for it, chances were he wouldn’t go into much detail about his family ( a personal choice that was usually the safer bet ). though he’d found that using riley as a conversation piece got him on most girls’ good sides, showcasing his sensitive side or whatever flowery bullshit they ate up like cake. “you sound so surprised. she’s my sister, not some alien i’ve adopted.” a quiet snicker bubbled up his throat as josie continued frantically searching for her lost wallet, eyes glazing over her ass when she bent down to check beneath the bed. “i just think it’s funny how you would forget your wallet of all things.” shoulders fell into a shrug while he made casual strides towards her, stopping behind her frame as his lips ghosted over her neck. “you seem tense.” he spoke the words slowly, noticing that was a pattern whenever the brunette was in his general vicinity. if aiden didn’t know any better, he’d say it was his doing. “i could help you out with that.”

rolling her eyes expressively at his apparent lack of understanding, she crossed her arms, more than a little uncomfortable to have to be there. “not you specifically, but i think i dropped it here,” she elaborated, stepping past him when he moved to let her in, the annoyance slipping to show genuine concern for a moment, worried she would have to cancel her cards. she started her way up the stairs, assuming if it was anywhere, it’d be there. throwing a slightly curious look over her shoulder at him, she called absentmindedly over her shoulder, “so who’s the kid?” she made sure she sounded disinterested, but really, she didn’t know very much about him at all. hesitating at the top of the stairs, she made a face. “which door was it?” she mused, more to herself than to him, as she struggled to remember exactly what happened before her mistake.
arms loosely crossed over his chest as he trailed a few steps behind her up the staircase, finding her concern slightly entertaining. surely if josie had lost her wallet, she could have gone ahead and cancelled her cards instead of going through the trouble of making a trip to his house, which prompted the original idea he’d had planted in his head — that maybe, just maybe, she wanted a reason to see him after their night together. “riley. my little sister.” he kept his response short, aware that the brunette knew close to nothing about him other than the aiden she saw at events around the city. not that he was actively trying to portray a different image of himself, anyway. her oblivious comment caused his blue eyes to roll, a finger pointing towards the end of the hallway. “last one on the left.” continuing behind her in close proximity, his lips painted into a smirk as his body leaned against the door frame. “y’know, usually girls leave their underwear. you really are unique.” he released a chuckle into the air, unable to hold back.

josiehartford:
the annoyance painted on her face softened the moment she realized the person in front of her was not him. “hi, i’m, uh, looking for aiden brooks,” she managed, smiling a little at the younger girl, sure her nerves were plain on her face. the girl had shaken her a little and she realized she knew next to nothing about aiden’s life. she didn’t know if this girl was a sister, cousin, or what. the girl yelled, and she steeled herself once more, her eyes narrowing the second he came into view. she watched him speak to his sister silently, not allowing her expression to soften again, though she was a little surprised to see him interact with her so differently than what she was used to seeing. she didn’t expected him to be anything other than an ass at any given point. however, the second the little girl – his sister ? – was gone, the aiden she knew and hated was back, giving her that infuriating half smile. “as if,” she scoffed, crossing her arms against the breeze. she stared at him impatiently, not in the mood to play games. “you have my wallet.”
watching the way her features instantly changed to become infuriated with him amused aiden more and more each time it happened, curious to know if she’d ever grow tired of pretending he didn’t have an affect on her. his eyebrows furrowed slightly at the brunette’s reasoning for randomly showing up at his doorstep, “i have your wallet?” he repeated the words back to her, unable to recall her leaving anything over there, though a lot happened that night so his mind was still a bit hazy. “i mean, i doubt that i would, but feel free to look around.” motioning inside, he stepped out of the doorway and allowed her entrance into the house. there was a small part of him that couldn’t help thinking this was all a ploy to come see him, but he decided to keep his mouth shut. regardless of what the male may have thought, he knew josie would be caught dead before admitting to such a thing, which is why he didn’t make any comments on it.

josiehartford:
sitting in her car, her hands tapping on the steering wheel with nervous energy, josie tried to relax long enough to give herself the talk she needed. she just needed her wallet back, she checked every other potential avenue and had determined it had to be with aiden, which was just not ideal. she was already embarrassed enough about how she acted, having to shove that aside in order to get back to the icy attitude she offered him all other times was just difficult at the moment. steeling her nerves, she stepped out of her car and approached his front door, ringing the bell and hoping her disdain showed stronger than the mortification of having to speak to him again.
the sound of the doorbell ringing echoed inside of the house, causing aiden to shift slightly on the couch as he assumed their doorman would answer whoever it was. he continued scrolling through his phone until hearing his little sister’s voice clear as day. “aiden, there’s a pretty girl here!” she shouted, her words catching him completely off guard. brows lifted while he strolled towards the front door, not having expected any company, though racking his brain for which of his latest conquests could be there. the sight he stumbled upon came as a bit of a shock, a very familiar brunette stood before the residence. aiden would be lying if he said he hadn’t seen this coming. it was only a matter of time, especially given the incredible night they’d had. blue eyes settled on josie, accompanied with the usual scorn she sent him. “why don’t you go upstairs?” he crouched down to be at eye-level with riley, sending her a quick wink and motioning to the staircase. a smirk immediately etched its way onto his lips once his sister was gone, leaning against the door frame as his arms crossed over one another. “couldn’t get enough of me, huh?”

she did her best to keep still, though the feeling his lips left had her tensing in anticipation. the lighter touch of his lips over the sensitive area had sent shivers down her spine. impatiently, she lifted her hips a little to make removing her underwear easier, caring less about what happened the further it went, so long as she got what she wanted. her stomach was in knots, the warmth of his breath enough to make her wet. his mouth finally made connection with her core, after what seemed like an eternity to her, and she leaned her head back, keeping her hands to the bed as she let out a soft moan.
her soft moans elicited a haughty smirk as he pulled back slightly, warm breath hovering over her core. “c’mon, babe. i need you begging for it.” he commented in a teasing tone, though there was a sense of truth behind his words. she was making this harder on him, quite literally, but it only encouraged aiden to continue with his motions -- see how far he could go before she became putty in his hands. burying his nose further, his tongue lapped a wide stride from the bottom up until eager lips wrapped around her clit. calloused fingers removed themselves from the hold on her waist, spreading her folds while he gently sucked on the skin.

her eyes fluttered shut as she focused on the feeling of his lips against her chest, the quietest of sighs escaping her. she let herself be pushed down on the mattress, watching his movements closely. a shiver went down her spine at the harder kisses and she leaned her head back, exhaling slowly while she tried to think about something else that would distract her from the static feeling he left on her skin where he pressed his lips. she ran her hand through her hair roughly, involuntarily whimpering quietly at the feeling of his teeth on her skin, frustrated at how slow he was going but entirely unwilling to make him move faster. she didn’t want him to know how much of an effect he had on her.
his hands firmly gripped her waist, fingers sinking into her skin while his lips moved further down, continuing to leave bite marks along the smooth plains of her body. he stopped at the hem of her panties, placing a feather-light kiss over her clothed clit. though nothing gave aiden more satisfaction than teasing her, he didn’t waste any time pulling the fabric off -- in no mood to delay the inevitable. he wanted to hear her moan, to see her lose any last bit of self control she had. all because of him. throwing the article of clothing to the side, he mounted her thighs onto his shoulders, working his way between her legs. hot breath grazed over her inner thighs as he advanced towards her core, tongue poking out and lightly circling around her folds.

indignation sparked in her at the nickname. she didn’t want people wondering at the marks, especially since she had only recently stopped dating. he was lucky to even be here, in her mind, as it was a privilege to be in this situation, so she very nearly opened her mouth to argue with him before he distracted her again, fingers pressing into her skin. staring down at him, wondering again briefly, less annoyed than before, how she had ended up here. nodding at his proposal, she answered, only a little breathlessly, “yes, a secret.” biting her lip when she felt his teeth, she focused on keeping her breathing even. more resigned to the speed he was going now, she marveled at how much time he was spending, a little unused to people moving slowly with her.
he could hear the slight change in her breathing as he continued, his senses heightened to each response she gave the further he went. at this point he usually had girls begging for more, but josie’s silence only made him determined to break it -- desperate to take her over the edge. his mouth moved to her other breast, swirling his tongue in a circular motion before letting his bottom lip graze over her nipple. the position wasn’t ideal, so he withdrew himself from her completely, pushing her against the mattress to get better access. aiden trailed butterfly kisses along the rest of her stomach, stopping at her hip bone and sucking on the flesh. his movements were a bit rougher, teeth leaving red marks along her skin. he figured it wouldn’t be a problem since it wasn’t anywhere visible, like she’d stated.

feeling the gentle bite, she inhaled sharply, the sensation making her bring her hand up to tangle in his hair, nearly pushing him against her neck but refraining, barely. “nowhere visible,” she murmured firmly, with no small amount of regret. as good as it felt, as much as she wanted him to continue in that vein, she didn’t want any questions about why she suddenly had hickeys down her neck, especially when she never had any before. granted, she was better about ground rules in other situations she’d been in, but she was finding it exceedingly difficult to set her usual boundaries. as he shifted, she wrapped her legs around his waist, her breathing growing more uneven as he slowly worked his way down her neck. she traced her fingers lightly down his back, her fingernails digging in when he first started sucking at her chest, her back arching just in the slightest way, barely noticeable, to encourage him.
he found the whole situation pretty ironic, given the fact that she was showing him all signs of wanting this, yet a part of her still had to hold back in fear of tainting her precious image. aiden wasn’t used to boundaries, always doing as he pleased, but he had to accept her wishes. “relax, princess.” he drawled out, sarcasm laced in his tone while his fingertips firmly pressed into her hips. in retrospect, it didn’t really matter considering he was already getting what he’d asked for -- he was merely greedy, stuck in his ways, but dwelling on it wouldn’t make a difference. he continued placing kisses over her chest, nose brushing against her skin and allowing the scent of her perfume to fill his nostrils. “it’s our little secret, yeah?” he glanced up at her with a devilish grin, blue eyes meeting brown, before his head dove down again. tongue peaked out, licking the exposed skin as he savored the feel of her nails digging into his back. he took her nipple in his mouth, biting very gently, fingers teasing the underside of her other breast.

the way he smiled made her want to wipe it right off immediately, she hated how triumphant he seemed then. leaving would’ve been the smarter thing. his remark made her question her choices again, for the hundredth time that night, given how arrogant he was. she didn’t want to answer him, determined to get what she wanted, but she did make mental note that, in the future, walking away was always the right option when it came to him. at the very least, then she wouldn’t have to deal with that gleeful grin. she made a noise of frustration, leaning forward to press herself closer to him, annoyed that he wanted to torture her, take his time now that she wanted anything but. shivering at his touch, she slipped the straps off her shoulders. she discarded her bra carelessly, her mouth not leaving his while she moved, running her tongue over his lower lip. one of her hands went to the side of his face, the other holding her weight up on the other side of him.
he couldn’t help but wonder what had gotten over her, finding her determination odd yet comforting all at the same time. a small part of him wondered how many buttons he could push until she’d call it quits, but he decided against testing that theory -- wanting his limbs to stay intact. aiden sensed her obvious annoyance, which only fueled him more, feeling like he’d gained a bit of control now. his mouth parted as her tongue slid along his lip, moving at a steady rhythm while his arms wrapped around her frame. he hoisted himself up on the bed, keeping her secure in his lap as he began pressing kisses down her jaw. teeth sank into the curve of her neck, nipping at the sensitive skin to leave a mark, before he continued further. he trailed open-mouthed kisses along her chest, stopping at her breast and gently sucking. his pace remained slow, hoping to gauge some sort of reaction as to whether he should keep going.

she rolled her eyes at his reaction, a little angrier at the fact that he seemed to care more about the sex than upsetting her, not that she should have been surprised at all. less surprising was the fact that he had close to ruined whatever was going on there by opening his mouth. and he certainly wasn’t making the issue much better. “high and mighty?” she repeated, raising an eyebrow, not at all finding compliment within the sentiment. of course he didn’t think it was serious, nothing actually mattered to him from what she saw. the more he said, the more she wanted to leave, but at the same time she was nowhere near ready to go. her glare didn’t lessen, but she didn’t pull away from him either. “god, you’re an idiot,” she muttered under her breath, before leaning over and crashing her lips against his again. as infuriating as he was, she wanted him more.
he half expected her to do a complete one eighty and leave, but a victorious smile painted over his lips as she leaned forward for a kiss. aiden happily obliged, though his movements were a bit slower, taking his time – just to frustrate her some more. he pulled away in the slightest, his lips barely touching hers while his gaze flicked to her eyes. her remark only caused a chuckle to slip past him, having heard much worse. he was immune to whatever she threw his way at this point. “an idiot you clearly can’t get enough of.” he reminded her, before his mouth moved against hers with the same fervor she’d started with. his hands instinctively found their way to her back, trailing up her soft skin until he stopped at the clasp of her bra and unhooked it in one swift motion.

josie frowned at him, her brows knitting together. if she hadn’t felt insulted before, she definitely did now. “just because some of us actually care about our reputations doesn’t mean there’s a stick up my ass,” she retorted, annoyed. it frustrated her to be thought of as uptight or prudish, especially when all she wanted to do was keep her image in tact. she didn’t want there to be any negative reason for people to talk about her, especially as she wanted control of her family’s business eventually and for that to happen, she had to be straightedged, a model citizen. at his suggestion, she shot him a dirty look. “i don’t know, might be a little difficult with the stick up my ass,” she said sarcastically, still frowning.
he immediately regretted opening his mouth once he saw her features harden, mentally cursing himself for letting his carelessness get the best of him. they were doing so well, too. he should’ve known better than to make such a stupid comment, especially given the circumstances, but the words spilled before his mind had time to process what he’d said. aiden shut his eyes, pinching the bridge of nose while he contemplated how to fix this. “there’s nothing wrong with caring about your reputation.” he clarified because although he was the complete opposite, her dedication never failed to amaze him. “i, for one, think your ‘high and mighty’ attitude is pretty hot.” the dirty look she sent stirred up a strange feeling within him, unable to detect it. all he knew was offending her was the last thing he wanted to do right now. “c’mon, don’t be like that.” he reached out for her hand, “it’s not that serious.”

rolling her eyes, she tried to think of a way to explain, but came up short of one that didn’t sound too raunchy. “there’s a difference between talking and letting someone prepare a little,” she said primly, pulling her hair over to one side, over her shoulder. watching his expression carefully, she lifted an eyebrow at the beginning of his statement, a little concerned about the direction that it was going. leaning into his fingers a little, reveling a little in how gentle they were now, she scoffed at his last word. “what, you think all those prissy playboys date me for my brain?” she snorted at the idea, making a face. “please.” she didn’t know whether or not to be insulted that he didn’t think she would be experienced or whatever it was that he was implying or to be flattered that the pristine image she kept up at all times apparently worked better than she guessed.
a quiet hum left his lips before slowly nodding his head, “i’ll keep that in mind.” he noted, storing the information away for the future, which he was sure he’d be using again. his expression remained nonchalant, not necessarily bothered by the idea of her showing other guys this side of her, instead wishing he could’ve witnessed it sooner. “well, you do kinda walk around with a stick up your ass,” his voice became slightly more hushed as he spoke, knowing he should be careful with his word choice, but he didn’t really see why she would get mad. aiden was only stating the truth, or at least the truth based on what he saw regularly. “so i just assumed.” though now that they were being civil, he figured her aggressive nature towards him was merely built up sexual tension. a smirk etched onto the corners of his mouth, no longer interested in wasting their time when they could be doing more productive things. "anyway, round two?"

keeping her attention at the tip of him she felt him stiffen, sensing that he might be close and unsure he’d give a concrete warning past body language. she was right, glad she had her hand to prevent any mishaps as he came, her cheeks hollowed until she was sure he was finished, not really wanting to make too much of a mess of her makeup. swallowing and wiping her mouth in a fluid motion, she sat herself back up, adjusting herself so that she was resting lightly over his abdomen, knees on either side of him as she smiled, only mildly triumphant, at the sight of him. resting her hands on his chest lightly, she raised her eyebrows at him. “you really should give a girl a warning, y’know,” she said lightly, holding back a chuckle at the satisfied look on his face.
blue eyes remained glued on her as she finished the job, amazed by how good he actually felt. aiden could tell she was proud of herself, especially if the way she was smiling at him was any indication. it was a rare sight given the fact that he was always pissing her off, but he liked the change -- thought it was refreshing. “i figured we weren’t doing the whole talking thing.” he simply shrugged in response, not at all sorry for his lack of communication. still coming down from his high, he found it difficult to care about much else, wanting to enjoy the moment of bliss. “i didn’t expect you to be so...” his voice paused mid-sentence, pondering the right word to use as his fingers absentmindedly played with her hair. “skilled.” he finished, brows quirked, evidently a bit shocked by the josie who was resting on top of him.
