Genuinely distraught over Peter "Parker" Yang. This rough-n-tumble guy who, while physically intimidating, has a heart of gold. A working P.I. who was on a case and just happened to stumble into this drunkard in Jack's Bar, who seemed morose, who seemed like they needed help. And Parker helped him, easing him out of his shell, became his friend, and worked with him. He pulled Arthur Lester out of his self-hatred to help people, and in doing so, helped Arthur Lester himself.
He loved the guy. Brought him to his parents' house. ("They love you!") He's two thousand dollars deep in gambling debt and still bought his friend a piano because he knows he used to play. This man who sounds like he's inhaled more cigarette smoke than air wants Arthur to date his sister because it means they could be brothers. This man who tells Arthur that he's the brains of the operation, that once told him he was at bedrock, tells him to lighten up and not let the past drag him down. This man who knows Arthur doesn't like to be coddled, so he tells him what he needs to hear, but doesn't push too much.
This man who turned on the kettle to make tea for the two of them (how often did they do it? How often did they joke and laugh and start the day with a cup of tea before their first client?), who rushes to Arthur when he starts to shout, whose last words were, "Artie, breathe," who died trying to help his friend.
Parker Yang died from senseless violence from a being that did not yet have any humility or understanding of how precious life was, and Arthur followed him only a few seconds later.

I think Parker would have cut Arthur's hair ( because it's cheaper ) and I'm 100 procent sure of that.

“Parker said they were like brothers you can’t ship them-”
Listen here. It is the homophobic 1930s.
Parker knows he could not marry or pursue Arthur in any meaningful capacity without hurting either one of them, however, he loved him so immensely that he wanted to make him part of the family, the closest relationship he could conceive of them having, the closest thing he could get to having Arthur, the man he saved from drinking himself to death, around forever.
He presented it teasingly, a silly inside joke, but there was truth there. The Yangs, every one of them, loved Arthur Lester.
#There's so much potential angst here#Like it's just there waiting for the taking#and you want to ignore that because a character said “brothers”???#expand your mind#malevolent#malevolent podcast#malevolent spoilers

Did y'all hear how the Manager kept choking off his laughs every time they got too loud or too genuine, refusing to sound like Kayne? Did y'all hear how he kept suppressing pieces of his nature out of fear and shame, even if those pieces were full of joy or comfort? Did y'all hear how you kept rushing to kill the parts of himself that he hates?

I may be a bit delusional but. In Part 42, when Yorick first introduces the phrase “Dies Irae” (Day of Wrath), he says “It is your title. Your combined force.”
I know Kayne called what happened at the end of 52 their Day of Wrath, “You knew it all came down to this. Your Day of Wrath.” but I have a suggestion (based purely on a singular line and Hope) what if Dies Irae really was the name for John and Arthur’s combined force, and they just hadn’t been fully merged yet? What if Kayne, ripping them apart, gave them both the push/opening to fully become one? What if John, doing everything he can to save Arthur, fully merges with him, links their forms and beings, holds Arthur’s body together and irreversibly merges with him? Mend the gaps and tears and intertwines the two of them completely?
Kintsugi is the Japanese art process of using gold to fix cracks in broken pottery, mending the breakages and leaving gold seams where all the cracks had been, holding the pottery together. What if John fills in the breaks and pieces with gold/himself? Holding Arthur together, and binding the two of them?
This is really just a stab in the dark based pretty much just off of me remembering Kintsugi exists and going “ooh gold,, you know what else is gold,, John Malevolent Doe,, and you know what’s very very broken,, Arthur Lester” and hearing Yorick’s line in The Prince. My theories are really just based on hope and wishful thinking but,,,maybe?
#op keep talkng#those wolves are cooking#I doubt this is the route the show will go but damn is it a Really cool idea#malevolent#malevolent podcast
