One 4-oz braid of Malabrigo Nube Whale’s Road, spun up to become a hat for a friend!! I’d say this is probably my best spin so far— definitely not perfect, but it comes out to a pretty even DK weight and the twist is definitely more even than I was expecting, even before thwacking.

This was actually my first time spinning with a set technique in mind rather than just sort of going for it and hoping to make consistent yarn— nothing fancy, just short forward for worsted spinning, but I feel like I learned a lot and it was definitely much easier and more relaxing than my previous Malabrigo Nube adventures.

The one thing I’m not satisfied with is the twist angle. I guess it’s more common for beginners to make really ropy yarn but I just can’t seem to get enough twist into my singles!!! I think what happens is when I’m really paying attention as I’m figuring out what tension and speed I need, I’m drafting much slower, so it looks like I’m getting super twisted ropy singles when in actuality when I’m not paying attention I’m getting barely held together floof. I guess I’ll have to just start trusting myself more and cranking down the tension

Spinning: I’m a very new spinner (I only got my Electric Eel Wheel 6 in January 2023 & all the spinning before that was halfhearted experiments on a top whorl drop spindle), but I’m very enthusiastic about it!

Knitting: Sort of on pause for now, but I’m sure I’ll need some sort of way to use up all this yarn, and I’ve been happily knitting since I was 7 or something

Fiber processing and in general exploring sheep breeds via raw fleeces

Sewing/embroidery, when I can force myself to do it

Other sorts of visual arts (I oil paint & I have a secondhand doll I want to customize at some point)
