Choosing Artwork for Your Home: Expert Advice
"How do I choose the right artwork?" Designers are frequently asked this question. Choose the correct item for your room by following these simple guidelines. Artwork adds to the personality of the home and the space. It's helpful in linking together disparate elements and giving a home personality. The most excellent part about art is that it's an investment that you can take with you wherever you go, and it can potentially increase in value over time. It also eliminates the need for a second mortgage because you can spend as little or as much as you like.
Regarding the Kitchen
The kitchen is often disregarded when it comes to art. The kitchen is often the "heart of the home" and is the most commonly utilized area. Lean toward smaller pieces that complement rather than overpower the area to preserve the art in the details. We prefer prints that make us laugh or are more friendly, as they make our mornings simpler!
For the Master Bedroom
This is a place to relax and unwind, and the artwork should reflect that. The most delicate walls for art are directly over the bed or on the wall opposite the bed in the bedroom. The best items are large in scale and should be hanging at eye level. Look for abstract art Colorado with calming colors or tones. If you're like photography, desaturated landscapes work best.
Art is a terrific way to personalize your area and stay inspired whether you work from home or in an office. Creating a rotating gallery is one of our favorite ways to achieve this. Get along the floating ledge shelf and place it over or near your desk. The best part is that this is the only thing you'll need to hang! Then comes the fun part: you can choose from a variety of artwork that inspires you. Create a mood board with positive images or works by artists who inspire you as a starting point. You'll also want to include a variety of sizes, both large and small, so the possibilities are unlimited. You can have them all in the same frame for a more minimalist effect or have them all in various frames to add some personality. No nails are necessary to rotate or refresh these pieces anytime you become bored.
To Use in the Bathroom
Another spot where art is commonly ignored is the restroom. The artwork you chose should complement the bathroom's ambience. For example, if it's a powder room on the main level, you should utilize more bright and colorful objects. If it's a master bath, choose quieter or calming things. It could be two of the same abstract pieces, one of which is flipped on its side, or two different pieces with the same topic. All good options are over the toilet, over the bathtub (if you're lucky enough to have one), or over the towel/robe hooks.
Regarding the Living Room
The living room is both the most exciting and the scariest room to decorate with art. Most of us are under a lot of stress because this is the space where most of our guests will see and spend time. Choosing the perfect item is crucial for stimulating dialogue and establishing the space's mood or atmosphere. You can go with a vast gallery wall or a single large-scale item. It's sometimes necessary to think outside the box.

4 Forms of Art
Specific mediums and styles of artistic expression have evolved, but art generally fits into one of the seven traditional genres listed below. Each type of art uniquely affects our emotions and sentiments.
·         Painting
·         Sculpture
·         Literature
·         Architecture
We'll explore what each art form covers, its history, and how it enriches our everyday lives.
1. Painting
Painting comes to mind when we think of art. Painting is the most often taught art form in schools. Artists including Alec Monopoly, David Kracov, Yoel Benharrouche, Angelo Accardi, and Calman Shemi work in this media.
Painting is a method of expressing one's artistic vision through paint. A painter creates art by putting different coloured paints to a solid surface, generally a canvas. Paints are usually oil, acrylic, or water color, but pigments, dyes, and inks can also be used.
Paint can be brushed on, splattered, dabbed, or splashed. Painting is an ancient art form extending back to prehistoric cave paintings.
Paintings are categorized by subject, style, and genre. Subjects include still life, landscape, seascape, portrait, and abstract art Colorado. Modernist, expressionist, classical, surreal, cubist, Chinese style, abstract, impressionist, and other genres exist.
2. Sculpture
The sculpture is another archaic visual art form. A sculpture is a three-dimensional visual image of clay, stone, ceramics, metals, or wood.
Classical sculptors like Michelangelo and Myron preferred marble and metal sculpting and casting. These materials are used in many famous sculptures, including David, the Statue of Liberty, and Manneken Pis.
Modern sculptors can use metals, polymers, glass, or found things to make sculptures. Contemporary sculptors can also use more techniques like welding, carving, assembly, and modelling.
In 1917, Marcel Duchamp's 'Fountain' unveiled a sculpture consisting of a readymade porcelain urinal. Since then, the definition of sculpture has evolved.
Sculptures were often the first and oldest public art forms. Sculptures were often too large for individual residences and were displayed in public spaces as symbols of wealth, power, religion, or politics. Athens, Jerusalem, Istanbul, and Rome all had impressive public sculpture collections.
3. Literature
Literature is a storytelling art form. It is a literary form that can be read or spoken. "Writings of value in form or emotional effect," says the Concise Oxford Dictionary.
Literature includes poetry, essays, dramas, biographies, fiction, non-fiction, satires, and more.
Writers produce art with words, and while reading is delightful, those words are often social critiques. Many famous authors, such as George Orwell, Charlotte Bronte, and Charles Dickens, used language and writing to criticise society.
Literature is an art genre distinct from theatre, poetry, film, music, and the spoken word.
4. Architecture
Architecture is an art form that you pass every day without recognising it. Architecture is the art of structures, and it dates back to when man first built shelter. However, most people associate architecture with a few stunningly beautiful or awe-inspiring buildings.
Examples of ancient architecture are the Great Pyramids, Rome's Coliseum, the Taj Mahal, and Stonehenge. Examples of modern architectural marvels are the Eiffel Tower and the Guggenheim Museum.
Throughout history, architecture has been a functional manifestation of man's desire to make significant structures. Architecture is a functional necessity and an art form, and it is open to the public.
World-famous architectural creations are visible in major cities globally. Famous modern architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry have designed private residences. There may be art on your street.

9 Abstract Art Styles Every Collector Should Know
Abstract Art Types
Many contemporary artists are still experimenting with their compositions. Here is a general guide to abstract art, its genres, and artists.
Abstract Art
Abstract Expressionism is a new style of modern art of Abstract Art Colorado that originated in the U.S. in the mid-20th century. The abstracted forms, like 'Expressionism' of the 19th century, convey the artist's thoughts or emotions. Artists like Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock worked in a more free-form manner than the previous masters. However, some fantastic female artists from this era are now receiving more recognition, such as Alma Thomas, Grace Hartigan, and Joan Mitchell. Elaine de Kooning, like her famous husband Willem, was a prolific Abstract Expressionist.
Action Art
Action painting is often considered a subset of Abstract Expressionism. Starting with Jackson Pollock's iconic paint-splattered canvases, the phrase refers to works created by dripping, spilling, or splashing paint directly onto the surface.
Coloured Fields
Color Field Painting, like Action Painting, is frequently considered a subset of Abstract Expressionism. Colour field paints have vast expanses of single, flat colours. The colours selected might have a pleasant or sad impression. Colourists like Mark Rothko are linked with this art trend.
Colour field painting is a broad term that includes the rainbow-like works of Morris Louis. Artists like Carrie Moyer, Peter Tollens, and Osamu Kobayashi continue the colour field's legacy today.
Cubism
Cubism has left an indelible mark on Modern and Abstract art history. Contrary to popular belief, abstract art is a subset of Cubism. Picasso and Braque led this avant-garde movement that revolutionised European art and sculpture. The art critic Louis Vauxcelles named Cubism from Braque's work being constructed of cubes. Sure, he was right. Objects, people, and ideas are evaluated and reduced to cube-like forms that reflect their underlying makeup or thought.
Like Constructivism, Cubism impacted Suprematism. Cubism's influence may be observed now in everything from digital art to sculpture.
Expressionism
Though both are often to as Abstract Expressionism, they have fundamental variances. Expressionist works convey the artist's subjective vision, distorting form for an emotional or dramatic impact. Modernist movements like Der Blaue Reiter and the Bauhaus and artists like Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee helped establish and sustain Expressionism.
The Boston and New York expressionists, for example, were influenced by Expressionism, as was Cubism.
Abstract Geometry
It's a non-illusionistic space with basic geometric features. That is shapes on a flat surface. Cubism influences the universe of geometric abstraction. Artists like Fernand Leger and Francois Morellet contributed to creating the art trend, which is referred to as 'post-painterly abstraction' by art critic Clement Greenberg. Morellet, for example, brought geometric abstraction (and the 'flat surface') into three-dimensional works and light art.
Artists like Brent Hallard and Vera Molnar, to mention a few, are inspired by geometric abstraction.
Informalism
Informalism is a style of art that emerged in the 1940s and 1950s. Informalism, like other post-war trends, abandoned geometric abstraction for something more casual and intuitive. Lyrical Abstraction, Matter Painting, and Tachisme are all studied alongside Art Informel.
Neo-plasticism
The name comes from the Dutch ‘de nieuwe beelding,' which means ‘new art.' Neo-plasticism, unlike the other categories in this article, is an art theory. To this day, it is intrinsically tied to De Stijl and its artists, particularly Piet Mondrian.
Neo-plasticism was inspired by the idea that art should be stripped of unnecessary aspects, leaving just the essentials. Most of us remember Mondrian's art for its linearity and primary colours.
A.O.
Op Art (short for visual art) is a popular offshoot of Geometric Abstraction that produces or employs optical illusions. In the 1960s, artists like Bridget Riley experimented with colour theory and psychology to create mind-bending masterpieces. This is an art movement that is steeped in history. Artists long used Trompe-l'oeil methods to deceive the spectator.
Artists like Gilbert Hsiao, Christiane Grimm, and Adriana Dorta are redefining art. Bridget Riley also continues to create her creations.
Conclusion
This brief overview of abstract art and its evolution over the century and beyond should help you better understand how to observe, think about, and maybe collect different abstract art styles. Abstract art's definition and methods are, well, abstract.

6 Techniques for Making Abstract Art
Understand the Fundamentals of Abstract Painting.
Abstract painting is regarded as one of the purest forms of expression because it allows the artist to freely speak visually without the constraints of objective reality's forms. Abstract painting approaches span several styles, including German Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, and Abstract Expressionism.
A Brief Overview
Abstract paintings emerged in Europe during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as a departure from Classical and traditional academic painting. Prior to this time, many notable artists painted in the traditions of classical realism, which used accurate perspective, shading, and other techniques to represent historical situations and subject matter.
Abstraction is not the most popular artistic style. Sure, it has a devoted (and growing) community of practitioners, and it accounts for a sizable portion of what hangs on the walls of famous New York art galleries. Many artists and art lovers, however, choose to avoid it, possibly because they are intimidated by it or because they do not trust those ostentatious galleries. More likely, they haven't had much exposure to abstract art and, as a result, don't know what to make of it.
But that is a pity, because those who avoid abstract art Colorado are missing out on some of the most fascinating and expressive artwork available. Of course, abstraction allows artists to express themselves in a radically different way, but that isn't all. It also fosters your imaginative abilities by encouraging you to think about your thoughts in ways that do not correspond to objective reality and by requiring you to see in novel ways. There is no better way to expand your imagination than to free it from the constraints of our normal visual experience and let it run wild.
1.       Instead of looking out the window, take a look inside. Rather than searching for images to describe in your surroundings, focus on your own feelings and experiences and see what comes to mind.
2.       Pay the masters a visit. As an exercise, try breaking down a masterwork into individual forms without paying attention to the details to get a sense of how the picture is structured. Redraw the shapes (or make them out of paper) and then experiment with different arrangements.
3.       To begin, print in black and white. For those who are new to abstract art, it is usually best to start by focusing solely on shapes and composition before moving on to working with color.
4.       Make a big deal out of it. When artists lack self-assurance, they tend to work on small scales. Don't be afraid to begin with large forms so that you can later examine them from a distance.
5.       Doodle. Simple doodling, whether on paper or in clay, with an open mind or a vague idea in mind, will allow you to gain an idea of where your thoughts might lead you in the future.
Andrew Peters is a multi-award-winning artist based in the United States and Europe who paints oil landscapes. He has studios in Arizona and Wyoming, which allows him to balance his work with outdoor activities like hunting and fly-fishing.

Painting pet portraits - A Guide to Beginners
How to Draw and Paint (Beginner Pet Portrait Instructions)
·         Gather your materials.
·         Select a look and a style
·         Make a background with paint.
·         Print a picture of your pet.
·         Place the photo on the canvas.
·         Put the finishing touches to it.
There are some pointers below to help you through each of these phases in order to make a good Pet Portrait.
Assemble your materials
You must first obtain the necessary supplies.
A wide choice of paints is available.
You should also have access to a printer and tracing paper for carbon copies.
To paint on, you'll need an art canvas or a similar type of surface. A recycled wooden plank might suffice. It's best to gesso the surface first, especially if working with wood, a porous surface, or acrylic paint.
To mix colors and paint from, you'll need a decent quality black marker, soft art pencils, paintbrushes, and a paint palette.
Why do I need to use gesso to prime the painting surface?
When gesso dries, it creates a 'tooth' (rougher surface) for the acrylic to cling to. It also has a more fluid application.
Paint the background and choose a style
After you've acquired your materials, you'll need to determine how you'll paint the background. If you're using acrylic, this step is simple because acrylic dries quickly. If you're using oil paint, keep in mind that it can take weeks for it to cure. If you use dry media or linseed oil, you can reduce the time it takes for oil paint to dry.
Keep in mind the final image of your pet.
Ø  What is the pet's color?
Ø  What kind of personality does the animal have?
Ø  Do you want your image to be abstract, realistic, or a combination of the two?
When constructing the background, keep this in mind as you'll want to think about highlights, shadows, and possibly even tones that match your home or the client's preferred colors.
Please take a picture of your pet and print it out.
While the background dries, locate the pet's favorite photograph. Make a black-and-white copy of the photo. You want to print in black or white to see the color differences and any highlights or shadows better. This portion of the process can take a while because you have to be careful that the image does not print too dark. If it does, you'll need to use computer software, a tablet, or a phone to modify the image until you see the pet's iris. This is to avoid losing a lot of information. The darker sections of black and white prints can sometimes mix.
When cropping the pet's photo, make sure that the pet occupies up nearly the entire page. Before you print, use the 'print preview' option to check this. You might also wish to have the photo reversed horizontally in the editing software so that the final image is what the eyes see naturally, rather than the opposite image.
To take note of the color, you might utilize a reference picture on your phone or tablet.
Place the image on the canvas.
It would be best if you now outlined your shot before transferring it on the canvas. You can either trace the image with the carbon copy paper directly on the dry canvas or trace the lines, shadows, and everything else on the printing itself.
Make sure to use a graphite pencil with a soft tip. Keep in mind that 'hard' pencils will not transfer as well as 'soft' pencils. After that, place the outline 'face down on the canvas and rub the back page with the end of a paintbrush or a hard surface. The graphite will be transferred to the dried paint in this manner. You can use tape to secure the edges of the paper while you transfer, or you can share using carbon copy paper.
Complete the look with a few finishing touches.
You can use the marker to redraw the pencil to highlight the lines at this point, or you can apply acrylic paint right away if you want to go for a less stylized look.
Color outside the lines or inside the lines.
Use your imagination for color, or use the visual reference you have to create more realistic hues.
Finish the painting when it has dried, and then let it dry again.
In contrast, the picture adds white highlights to the eyes or makes the eyes a different hue.

Abstract Art Tips
Geometric motifs and shapes have appeared in art throughout history. Consider Celtic knots—some of the earliest Celtic items date from the 5th century.
Picasso was a forerunner of the cubist style, in which he distorted familiar shapes and forms. He wanted to make paintings that went against the grain of realism. He painted in this way for about fifteen years, simplifying objects and subjects into geometric components.
Kazimir Malevich was influenced by expressionism, fauvism, and cubism. In his painting, Malevich tried to break away from natural forms.
What characteristics distinguish a "excellent" abstract painting?
If you want to improve your painting talents, you should learn some essential characteristics that make a Colorado Abstract Art appealing to the eye. Of course, art is mainly about fun and experimentation, and binary categories like "excellent" and "poor" art are difficult to define and needless to describe unless the artist is serious about developing.
Before you begin painting, learn the fundamentals of color theory and how to mix and blend colors. Your skills will quickly develop as you gain more control over the tones, values, and levels of saturation in the color you create.
If an artist is frustrated because they can't get paint to behave the way they want it to, they may label their work as terrible, preventing them from realizing their artistic vision. So this is what I mean when I say a "poor" abstract painting: one that fails to show the painter's genuine ability fully.
What is your definition of abstract art?
There are no evident subjects or references in abstract painting. It opposes reality and imitation in the arts. It can be attractive to the eye without attempting to imitate anything in real life. Composition, structure, value, shape, color, and edges are all present in abstract paintings, just as in realism paintings. It's only that these elements will be employed and built differently than in more realistic painting methods.
Expertise that can lead to success for abstract painters
There's a reason some abstract artists become well-known in the art world and have collectors of their own.  Many are distinguished by their ability to create with intention, contemplation, subtlety, nuance, and talent.
In other words, having a foundational understanding of the properties of oil paint (such as its drying time and how to apply it to the canvas to achieve the desired effects), as well as the fundamental principles of oil painting (such as techniques, brushwork, color theory, and how to design (or compose) an image) can aid an artist's mastery of abstract painting. It takes a lot of planning to create an artwork.
Plan the composition (shape and focal point), the color palette, and the layering of the paint. You can break the laws of composition and color theory as much as you like once you have an eye for what looks nice and the skill to lay down paint as you wish. The application of paint will be intuitive, and the results will, more often than not, be exactly what you want. In the following parts, I'll show you how to enhance these vital elements of color, composition, and technique to improve your abstract oil painting talents.
