                 it was impossible to miss him , even if he was sitting down his beard gave him away.  hazel’s comment stuck out to her because even as infuriating as he was he still wasn’t a bad person to get along with. she would still be herself but maybe he would like some company since he looked all alone at the tables.  he grabbed two champagne floats and headed over to where he was sitting.  she sat next to him and placed her second float in front of him , “ someone told you were yelling earlier ---- are you better now ? “

             expression fell only slightly at the other’s admission but it was quickly concealed by the usual neutral expression she kept.  “ he is tall , it can be intimidating for some. “  even if he was rather pleasant but she won’t admit.  “ are you enjoying yourself ? “

               “ that is not entirely convincing. “ she says as she finally takes the joint and after a small moment of contemplation takes a considerable puff and hands it back to him.  it obviously wasn’t her first time , but she hated how giggly she got afterwards.

At the eye roll, Parker had to laugh. What was he getting grilled for this early? Did one of his sisters already go spreading some nonsense? They weren’t much of the gossiping type, but perhaps things were different when they were in college mode. “Looks like they pretty much have champagne and wine. If you don’t drink much, you should do a moscato or reisling. They’re sweet.” You didn’t grow up surrounded by unnecessary opulence without picking up a thing or two on wine.

             she did not know him , she did not even know his name though hazel might have mentioned it.  she couldn’t see his entire face but knew the rest couldn’t have been good.  she nodded her head , she went ahead and ordered a reisling just because it had a nicer ring to it.  she turned to the taller man and gave a nod before saying , “ thank you . “

he put a hand up to his chest and sighed appreciatively. “why, thank you. i didn’t name myself so really, all the props to my parents.” he’s always loved his and mari’s full names, even if the opportunity to use them was rare. when she invited him to dance, rizo was almost awestruck. usually he’d be the one to invite people to dance, used to being the life of the party and hyping everyone else up. he nods. “i would love to!”

              his reaction was quite adorable , even she cannot deny it.  any other person would have been off put by the way she approached them but the other did not seem to mind.  it made her time a lot more memorable  the music was rather tame so it’d have to be a slow dance but she didn’t mind.  she offered her hand out to him , “ i did not look past your name , if you must know. “  in case he had anything personal in his records.

“ WHAT WOULD THEY ACTUALLY DO if we hadn’t’ve come ? ” luc has been on the topic of it with alina since they found out they couldn’t skip the gala; glad they had a mutual disgust for the idea. “ it’s not like they’d kill us, though maybe this is their way of weeding us out considering i genuinely could die of boredom. ” he scoffs, finishing his first champagne glass of the night. “ though, i suppose it is a mission. ” luc rolls his eyes, so he’s obviously going to take it seriously.

              “ expelled ?  punished with some sort of detention ?  more work ? “ the possibilities were small yet possibly severe.  “ i do not know why they continue to throw events like these , suppose it is to distract us , but then they give us a mission on top. “  seemed like a double negative to her.

“I almost can’t believe it.” It took her a while to recognize Alina. The brunette was in a strapless colorful dress, everything Alina was so against. Noah was pleasantly surprised! “Alina Ivanova in a dress. You look gorgeous. Don’t you feel pretty, too?” she asks. “Who convinced you? I gotta congratulate them.”

     “stop messing with it,” raina tells her friend, shaking her head as she sees the other smoothing down the dress she had lended her for the evening. “you look great, if i do say so myself.”

                 she felt like it was a little too big for her tastes , it just felt like a lot and she was never one to wear things like this.  “ you wouldn’t have done a good job if you didn’t make me look great , don’t you think ? “

Figuring out his mission was a simple strategy - treat it like networking. Talk and listen to the room around him. But it did mean he finished drinks faster from sipping between conversations rather than dancing. When he began towards the bar, he caught a glimpse of a smaller girl who he thought was going to the bar too. “You go first.”  closed @aivanova​

           alina used other tactics to find her mission , she wasn’t about to ask every person what their middle name was --- it was ineffective and awkward.  her dress made her feel off , her heels made her much taller than she usually was and yet she could tell he was a giant compared to her.  it was enough to cause her to roll her eyes.  why was all that height necessary ?  plus , the face --- too much.  “ i do not drink much , “ she scaled down her accent a bit.  “ what do you recommend ? “

            FROM WHAT HIS CLUE HAS GIVEN HIM,  caden’s pretty positive he’s looking for a russian.  and while he doesn’t know a whole lot of them, there is one girl that immediately comes to mind. unfortunately, finding her in a crowd of people wearing masks is harder than he had expected. but by the refreshments he THINKS he spots her, strolling up beside her and blatantly trying to get a good look at her face before she turns to him.   “ having fun ? “   he asks, grabbing a champagne flute and knocking it back.   @aivanova​

         alina thought everyone looked pretty , it was definitely different from how she was used to seeing everything.  it was over the top and unnecessary but pretty.  she notices someone scoping her out , which shouldn’t be odd but everyone had one thing in mind and she knows --- or thinks --- she can’t be his.  “ is it not obvious ? “ she says with a smile as she takes a small sip from her own.

“oh! hello alina.” he smiled politely. he was doing much better at this event compared to the last, now that he knew what to expect and what to do. “i noticed the tall man you told me to avoid. he’s worse in person.”

             lips curled into a smile as hazel approached him.  alina liked his company and liked it even better because he was short --- but don’t tell him that.  “ i tried to warn you. “ even if he was very nice.  most of the tall people were nice , actually.  “ did you try to get to know you as well ? “

              “ i think you have a very lovely name , “ she said as she walked up to rizo.  she of course went the easy route and looked him up by not so legal means and others as well but thankfully it was someone she seemed nice. “ would you like to dance ? “ she figured it would be better than just leaving.

                 alina would have preferred the dress raina chose to not be strap less ( she didn’t want to bring attention to the tattoo that adored her shoulder blade ) but she had to accept it ---- for now.  she moved her hair so it covered her shoulder once more as she saw a flash of red hair run towards her.  it was too late and she couldn’t escape her.  she motioned with her hand , rather exaggeratedly , at the woman , “ i do not want to hear it. “

                 “ how would you know ? “ she knows that the other doesn’t and simply wants to annoy her by denying it.  “ not everyone is trying to jump you , no need to jump to that conclusion. “ of course , he was being a bit of a hypocrite , that’s just how they were trained.  “ i noticed a snoring body on the table -- i figured you might try to attack while you were asleep so i let you. “ was the other always this defensive ?
