It's not until you're lost, that you're found. You'll never find your way looking at the ground. Don't focus too much on the Who, the How or Where. Just enjoy the view, learn something new & have a blast gettin' there. -a.dev

Two Flints
There’s always a coldness that follows the heat & I’ve always found it strange. I know from my many years on earth and experience with heat, that this isn’t how it should be. Heat should produce more heat and then more heat and then eventually a spark. Then a flame. Then fire. Then warmth and light. But every time the heat builds, there’s a flicker. And instead of a spark, there’s coldness.
I used to wonder if I was doing something wrong. Because you can’t tell me that it makes senses, for such heat to bring a cold front. But while I find a place for the blame it dawns on me that it takes two flints to start a fire. So we’ll share the blame when the sparks don’t catch.
We both did everything right. The heat grew so hot & lasted so long, a spark was sure to come. Without a doubt, there’d be a raging fire by morning. But as usual, the cold came. So strange.
Instead of admitting what we know, we rub and strike and try repeatedly. Wholeheartedly knowing that in the end it’ll be cold. And we hate the cold. But we enjoy the heat that damn much. It’s almost as if neither of us actually want a fire at all. It’s like we just want to feel the heat in the dark, the rush of wanting. We move so quickly, knowing how strong it’d burn once it catches but before it catches we stop. Then we pretend we didn’t see the flicker. And we use the cold to gauge how high we’d risen the heat this time. Determined to get it hotter next time. It’s so strange.

Nothing ever ends poetically. It ends and we turn it into poetry. All that blood was never once beautiful. It was just red.

When they pass, “Now station the special sea and anchor detail.” over the 1MC…
“That’s us?” Morgan asks. “Yup.”
The “sea and anchor detail” are primarily deck division (BMs and Undezies). This is when we are leaving port or about to pull in. We’re the ones who lower & raise the anchor and take in and/or feed out the mooring lines that moore us to the pier.

Omg Long time no see!
Recap; Almost exactly one year ago I joined the Navy and left for boot camp in Great Lakes, IL. After three months of that nonsense I moved from my home in Philadelphia to my first command in Pearl Harbor, HI onboard the USS Hopper, a guided missle destroyer.
I’m coming back to Tumblr because I miss it. But also, I created a new page strictly for Navy things. Not like, great selfies of me in my uniform and rants in lingo you won’t understand… But its going to mostly be me explaining Navy things to help you understand this life and mostly stories about the crazy shit my shipmates say (the later is actually what inspired this page). So check it out if you want to, if not, I’ll see you right here!

Body Issues? Get Over It.
I believe that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. And so do insecurities. If you’re unhappy with your physical appearance, I hate to break it to you but your problems aren’t unique. I’m sorry. So often, what I really want to say when I hear people yapping about how fat or ugly they are, is “You don’t deserve a better body. But your body deserves a better you.”
What I mean is, you’re really all you’ve got. How can you be so degrading to yourself? But let me guess… You want someone who’s gonna love you unconditionally just the way you are, right?
If there are things you want to change about your physical appearance I think that’s your choice & you should work on being the you that you want to be. I’m all for being better and self progress GO YOU! But I don’t think that means you shouldn’t appreciate yourself for the way you are now. Learn to love yourself at all stages of your physical life. Because you know what? You could lose 30 lbs tomorrow & love it and that’s cool. Or you could gain 60. And I think it’s sad that just because your body changes your whole opinion of yourself changes too. Because as sure as your born, your body is going to change, my friend.
If you feel fat, so what? Go get your fat as in a sexy outfit and do the damn thing. What’s the problem? I recently met an African American woman my own age (late twenties) who was albino. Her skin was white and pink everywhere. Her hair was curly and golden. I can only imagine the kind of insecurities that came along with that when she was growing up. But she was wearing a sexy little pale pink dress and pale pink heels & she looked like a got damn chameleon & she was one of the coolest and chicest people I’ve ever seen. She owned everything about her and just radiated confidence so I’m not sorry if you want to curl up in a ball on a Saturday night because you’ve gained 20 lbs. I’m not sorry at all. There will always be someone smaller than you, someone bigger than you and someone sexier than you. Get over it & be beautiful.

This is a bomb used by British soldiers in the First World War. It worked on a timer device, in which as soon as the pin was released, it would detonate in seven seconds. However, this soon appeared to be too long as it gave the Germans time to throw the bomb back. Therefore, the time was reduced to four seconds.
