Today was important, so important that you marked the date in your calendar with a pretty blue marker. You’ve planned this for an entire week, and you’re sure it will go smoothly.

Speaking to Leehan would be the easiest part, getting the confidence to knock on his door would be what’s difficult. As you scramble down the stairs, you take deep breaths to ease your anxiety.

Once you walk out the door, you bury yourself in your phone. (totally not trying to seem nonchalant.) ((but you’re also texting Theo)). Right when you’re about to hit send, you collide with someone in front of you and fall right on your ass.

“Ah— I’m sorr— Oh my god.”

It was embarrassing how easily you recognized that deep voice, even if you’ve only spoken once. Leehan stares down at you with wide eyes, accompanied with a shocked expression painting his face.

He snaps out his daze and offers a hand, you reach out and take it, dusting yourself off once he helps you back up onto your feet.

“This isn’t how it was supposed to go..”

You both happen to murmur at the same time, which causes an exchange of equally confused looks.

“Wait what?”

“Did you also plan?—“

Leehan is rendered speechless, and you? You’re trying go figure out if a coincidence like this was even possible.

“Well, that’s funny.”

You laugh awkwardly, fidgeting with the bottom of your t shirt. Leehan laughs as well, maybe a bit too much. You both are nervous, your plans foiled from the moment you bumped into each other. You eye the blonde boy in front of you, who’s doing anything but making eye contact.

“Yeah.. I had a lot of conversation topics lined up for you but, guess I forgot them.”

He replies, a sheepish smile tugging at his lips. You take the opportunity to truly look at his face, you notice how his eyes squint, how bright his smile really is, and the slight tint of blush coating his cheeks. Your stare seems to make him anxious, because his smile falters ever so slightly. You clear your throat.

“Hm, I have an idea. Why dont we exchange numbers and actually plan a day to hang out?”

You blurt out, internally sighing at yourself. You don’t want to seem desperate, or make it seem like you’re asking him out on a date. Though, here you are, typing your number into his phone, labeling the contact with your name and a little smiley emoticon.

Leehan takes his phone back and giggles at the contact name, and the little photo you managed to take without him noticing.

“Cute.”

He whispers to himself before looking back at you, trying not to fold at your bright smile and that happy twinkle in your eye.

“I’ll text you, let me know when you’re free yeah?”

You notice his confidence building as you guys speak, his posture straightened, his muscles more relaxed. Most of all, the dreamy look he has in his eyes. You nervously laugh and wave, before turning back to your house.

“Don’t keep me waiting!”

You leave Leehan alone, still stuck in the trance you left him in since you brought him those cookies.

Though, this time something’s new, someone’s new. Kim Leehan, and it seems like he doesn’t have the best reputation off the bat, he’s distant, quiet, hesitant to talk with everyone in your neighborhood. Oh, and he happens to be your next door neighbor.
