One of the things that stood out to me in the show that Megatron specifically didn't trust Blitzwing because of his mental instability- despite Blitzwing not actually doing anything to be disloyal other than not be a zealot like Lugnut. Also the toybox saying Blitzwing listens to Megatron out of fear lives rent free in my head all the time.

Also if you're wondering if Megatron's suggestion would have worked: No, it would essentially just have been a lobotomy.
