I just want to throw my own opinion out there on this whole who’s right argument.

Personally, I am 100% behind Maggie, Daryl and Jesus. 

They’re not going to be the ‘new villains’ and none of them would ever dream of hurting their family, least of all Rick and Michonne, so I don’t understand why people are comparing Maggie to the Governor and acting like she’s ready to kill anybody who gets in her way of ending Negan. Negan isn’t going anywhere for now, so they can hang back and prepare properly as Maggie clearly stated in her speech to the two men. 

I’ve also seen people using Glenn as a reason why Maggie should respect Rick’s wishes. ‘Glenn was a pacifist and would want Maggie to let Negan live’ etc. WRONG. Do none of you remember how Glenn reacted when he believed the Governor had assaulted Maggie in Woodbury. He lost his god damn mind and tried to go against Rick to try and kill him! He never once tried to save his life and Maggie was still breathing and relatively unharmed at the end of all that. He also went and killed Saviours in their sleep at the outpost in a bid to beat Negan. Even though he might not have enjoyed it, he thought it was the best way to save his family and he assumed Negan would be there, so he was ready to kill him. This was all before Abraham, Sasha, Denise, Dr Carson and how many others died after that. Glenn liked to save people and he wouldn’t have wanted to kill the Saviours or the workers, but don’t tell me he would have just allowed Negan to carry on living. If Maggie was the one to get the bat, Glenn would have done everything in his power to kill him, NO QUESTION. 

Rick is grieving Carl and wants to honour him, fair enough, but it wasn’t his call to make. Michonne will obviously back him up as she too read Carl’s letters, but she wasn’t right to do what she did either. Too many people have lost because of Negan and he deserves to die for it. Also, Carl wanted Negan to be a part of the new world as shown in his vision/dream, but Negan will rot in a jail cell to set an example, so that’s hardly what Carl wanted. 

People are confused as to why Daryl is involved too. REALLY? Daryl is severely traumatised after being held captive by Negan, in case you’ve blocked that entire storyline out? He was beaten and humiliated and psychologically tortured! He was abused as a child too, which must have come screaming back to the surface during his time there. He watched several friends and family members brutally die on top of all that, along with the added guilt of seeing Maggie suffer every day. He might have been able to let Dwight go, as he managed to redeem himself a little, but Negan ruined parts of him that will never be fixed. Also, don’t forget that Daryl gave up on finding the Governor back at the prison and when he came back he ruined their lives, killing Hershel and separating him from his family. Negan will always be a threat in Daryl’s eyes, as long as he’s drawing breath, so he knows he has to at least try and finish it.

Finally, Jesus being involved isn’t a surprise either. Yes, he tried to save Saviours who gave up, and yes he hasn’t endured what Daryl and Maggie have, but he was still tormented by Negan and the Hilltop lost people because of him and his direct actions. Jesus is loyal to Maggie, but he has his own mind and would definitely object if he didn’t believe in what she was doing, just like he did with the captured Saviours. Also, he’s seen what effect he’s had on the other communities. The Kingdom residents slaughtered, Alexandria burned down, people from all communities poisoned with walker tainted weapons and left to turn and kill others. At the end of the day though, Jesus doesn’t have to have some tragic story to know that Negan is bad and should be dead. It’s as simple as that.

A Very Desus Valentine’s
