Not All of Us Are Loud.
I wish people understood that not being able to read social cues doesnât always mean being disruptive or awkward.
Sometimes it means becoming the quietest, most obedient version of yourselfâbecause youâre terrified of getting it wrong.
You donât know where the lines are, so you become the perfect little version of yourself.
Polite. Soft-spoken. Always agreeable.
Never making waves, never taking up too much space.
You think if youâre sweet enough, small enough, good enough, people will love youâeven if they never really see you.
You donât know if someoneâs annoyed with you, so you apologize before you speak.
You give too much, laugh too quietly, pretend not to notice when someone talks over youâjust so you donât risk making things weird.
You donât know whatâs expected, so you throw yourself into every task until youâre exhausted and burned out in silenceâbecause god forbid someone thinks youâre lazy or difficult.
No one else is working this hard, but you donât know how not to.
You thought thatâs just what being ânormalâ meant.
âQuiet, hardworking, always accommodatingâ should be just as much an autism red flag as
âtalks too loud and never makes eye contact.â
But no one looks for usâ
the overachievers, the anxious perfectionists, the trans girls who learned to mask with femininity and kindness because being nice felt safer than being real.
And the worst part?
No one notices how hard youâre trying.
Youâre melting down behind your smile, overanalyzing every word,
and still people think youâre âso matureâ or âso easy to get along with.â
Iâm tired.
Iâm tired of interpreting micro-expressions and tones like Iâm deciphering ancient runes.
Iâm tired of guessing how to exist in every room I walk into.
Please.
Just say what you mean.
Donât make me guess if youâre mad at me or just tired.
Donât make me decode whether youâre flirting or just being nice.
Donât make me pretend Iâm fine just because I donât look overwhelmed.
Iâm a trans girl.
Iâm autistic.
Iâm trying so, so hard to understand a world that never taught me how to belong.
I donât need to be perfect.
I just want to be understood.

Reasons why computer problems seem to mysteriously vanish as soon as a technician shows up:
You were spacing out and skipping a step somewhere without realising it, and you canât reproduce it when you try to demonstrate it because now youâre paying attention to what youâre doing
Itâs an intermittent electrical connection fault thatâs being aggravated by movement/vibrations in your desk; you need to check your cables
The act of explaining the problem to someone caused you to figure out what you were doing wrong
The real cause of the problem was somewhere upstream of your terminal device â for example, at the network service provider â and it got fixed at the source while you were waiting
Your computer is in a location with poor airflow and is overheating; waiting for the technician to arrive gave it a chance to cool off
Despite all appearances to the contrary, modern computers actually have very good fault recovery, and most minor problems will sort themselves out on their own if you give it a minute

𧾠THREAD: This #PrideMonth, donât forget that the fight for queer liberation didnât start or end with marriage equality.
đŞâ¨ We need to keep fighting for our rights.
Hereâs are a few examples:
đ Before the 2003 Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, same-smex smexual activity was illegal in fourteen U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. military
đś Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldnât adopt in all 50 states. Before the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, laws varied wildly by state.
đłď¸âđ Before 1973, the American Psychiatric Association listed homosmexuality as a âmental illness.â In December 1973, a vote was successfully held to remove it.
đłď¸ Before 1974, there were no openly gay elected officials. That changed with Kathy Kozachenko, who became the first openly gay American elected to public office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
đď¸ Before 2011, âDonât Ask, Donât Tellâ banned LGBTQ+ people from serving openly in the military.
đ Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldnât get married in all 50 states. At the time, laws varied by state, and while many states allowed for civil unions for same-sex couples, it created a separate but equal standard.
đź Before 2020, employers could legally discriminate against queer and trans employees. It wasnât until the U.S. Supreme Court held that an employer who fires or otherwise discriminates against an individual simply for being gay or transgender is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

What a good ad for this. Welp. Adding it to TheNeverendingListâ˘ď¸
Itâs incredibly important to me that the anime decided to include this scene that wasnât in the manga. In the manga, Maomao does pass out in Jinshiâs lap after saving him from what was obviously an assassination attempt.

HOWEVER, the manga cuts off at this point, keeping strictly in Maomaoâs perspective, and cuts straight to when she regains consciousness in bed after being treated for her injuries. The manga doesnât show how she got back. They SAY how, and she briefly mentions, âwow that must have been embarrassing; he carried me back,â but we donât SEE it. We donât get to feel the true impact of what that means. But the anime DID show us, and holy shit.

They SHOW us how taboo this is. They show Jinshi carrying her out of the temple, after a public attempt on his life.

They show us the shock and horror on Lakanâs face as Jinshi silently walks past him. Horror at the state his daughter is in, horror at another manâa man with a status he could never dare to questionâstaking such a public claim over his child, horror at the fact that he could never have this level of closeness with her (as Maomao would never allow it).

Everyone hides their gazes, as is their custom when someone of his rank passes by, but the air is different this time. Jinshi is furious, heâs terrified, and he could not give a single shit about how inappropriate it looks to these palace officials.

The shot that slowly follows her trail of bloodâeven though itâs a small detailâthat in particular leaves such a intense impression of how poignant this is for him.
Maomao talked about this scene in the manga like it was nothing to her. She did what she set out to do: she saved the person who was targeted by the attack. She didnât even know the target would be someone she knew. But she has no idea that this happened afterwards as a result of her bravery. To her, it likely wasnât even an act of bravery at all. She acted on impulse; she did what she knew was the right thing to do.
The anime didnât need to include this, because the manga didnât show it. But damn, Iâm so glad they did.

âYouâre still doing thatâ is ridiculous. Iâm glad you got at least one apology and that one personâthough confusedâwas in your corner enough to tee you up for that, even if it was unintentional. Thank you for standing up for yourself.
I actually snapped for the first time yesterday and swore both my friends.
So, as most of you know, I go by Terra nowâand Iâve been doing so for over three months. I've been patient, Iâve given people time to adjust, and I havenât pushed hard about it, because I understand change takes a moment.
But yesterday⌠I hit a wall.
I was working, and things were busy. I was teaching two new players how to play Magic, helping a kid constantly pestering me for PokĂŠmon cards from the store folder, checking in everyone for a yu gi oh tournament, sorting out entries, and bouncing between all of that while also helping with snacks, drinks, and product sales. On top of it, a friend had come to the store just to trade me two cardsâbut they ended up getting swarmed by my two friends let's just go with Tim and Dale, who were trying to get trades off them too.
So yeah. It was a lot.
But the part that really broke me?
While I was juggling all of this, Tim and Dale kept calling me "Deadname"âover and over again. Like:
"Hey Deadname, can I check your file?"
"Deadname, did you bring your Final Fantasy stuff?"
"Deadname, wanna pod up for a game?"
I kept my cool, but it didnât stop. It was so constant that even John, who knows me as Terra, got confused and started calling me Deadname too. Then he paused and literally asked, âWaitâI know them as Terra? Why do you keep calling them Deadname?â
And Tim and Dale casually said. âUmm, thatâs because it's his name.â
Thatâs when I snapped.
I saidâloudlyââFor fuckâs sake, my name is fucking Terra. Get it rightâI wonât be asking again.â
And Dale? He had the audacity to say:
âWait, youâre still doing that?â
And I just stared at him and said,
âOf course Iâm still fucking doing it. Iâve been going by Terra for almost three months now, and it hurts that neither of you have made a single ounce of effort to even learn or remember my name.â
John just nodded, like it finally clicked, and went back to shuffling his Magic deck. But gods⌠that moment stung more than I can explain.
Both Tim didn't make eye contact or attempt to speak to me the rest of the day, except for Dale who appolagised and called me Terra the rest of the day.
