[THE ART OF KINTSUGI]
The Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi is antithesis to the perfectionist, Western ideal of symmetrical aesthetics. In Wabi-sabi, we find an acceptance of imperfections, impermanence, and incompleteness.
Nothing exemplifies this more than the art of Kintsugi, the repairing of broken pottery with lacquer and powdered gold and silver, which transcends wounds and breakage as the core focus of objects. The flaws of an object’s shape aren’t kept hidden but are rather emblazoned with golden significance.
Renowned artist and master of kintsugi, Showzi Tsukamoto is now introducing this art to travellers and residents in Japan. In his special three-day English workshop, Tsukamoto welcomes students in his studio to try their hands at the kintsugi process. There, you’ll be able to repair and take home your own finished kintsugi pottery, wonderfully mended with 24k gold. Workshops begin at ¥30,000. Not a hefty fee for a chance to learn from one of the greats.

[TSUKIKAGEYA]
Yukatas are meant to be traditional - to convey a certain, unassuming elegance. But, at Tsukikageya, things are a little different. This store brings yukatas from the conventional realm into the rebellious place of punk rock. Designer, Natsuki Shigeta, launched the line in 2001, and her daring approach has quickly led to her becoming one of the most talked-about designers in the sphere. Her pieces are all sewn and dyed by hand, so Shigeta charges a hefty, standard-fee of ¥52,929. Her shop is located in Shibuya Ward just a few blocks away from Yoyogi Park, so it’s easily accessible to those who want the yukata experience with a twist.
Address: 1B Yoyogikoen Q Bldg, 1-9-19 Tomigaya, Shibuya-ku Tokyo

"Tweetdeck—a social media dashboard product that allows users to create multiple, customizable Twitter timelines that can be viewed simultaneously—is likely a familiar tool to anybody who works in media and/or has a crippling dependence on digital content.
The Tweetdecking strategies that Hill employed and that Feldman described as “forced, gamed virality"—quick trigger news aggregation, zeitgeisty meme creation, and nostalgia porn—are all tactics regularly utilized by social media managers whose salaries (though, less frequently these days) are paid by major media companies.
Hill was merely following their lead, or perhaps, more accurately, they were following his."
