Hi, your thoughts on Yashahine: Princess Half-Demon please?

Yashahime is a very well done and unique work. It can be comparable in some cases to works like Dragon Ball Super, GT, Boruto and so on. It has a lot going for it.

The second season's budget is bigger than season 1's and it shows. With how successful it was, the animation quality simply by just the first trailer of the second chapter had been increased.

One of my friends is in the dubbing portion and she is very excited for the manga adaptation. She's an InuYasha fan, so she gives her own input to try to improve the English dub as much as possible.

Its reassuring to know that the original characters interactions are being handled and supervised by Rumiko Takahashi.

I enjoyed the work of the movies, having Katsuyuki Sumisawa as the script writer for Yashahime - I couldn't think of anyone better suited.

All that being said, I look forward to "The Second Chapter" of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon

The September issue of Shonen Sunday S will be released on July, 25 and will have the 11th chapter of the Yashahime

Apparently, Towa will think about Sesshomaru during a battle with the four perils and it looks like we’re getting more backstory with Sesshomaru and Rin(!!!!)

About ‘hogosha’ and why RT wasn’t saying Sesshomaru is Rin’s parental figure

Hi! I don't know if you noticed, but one anti traslated Narita interview and when another traslator, this one unbiased and trustworthy, posted their own traslation of the same interview and if course ended being different, they attacked the traslator. The problem was about, you can guess, the word hogosha. What doesn't exactly hogosha mean, and specially what does it means in context?

I already explained that in two different languages, but here we go again. 

The word has more than one definition. Nowadays it’s mostly used to refer to legal guardians. This is clearly visible if you check Wikipedia. 

The term hogosha, as used in Japan, regarding a particular individual and based on separate laws, is someone who performs a duty of care/protection.

According to each law, someone who carries out a parental authority (親権)(Person who exercises a parental authority: (biological) parents, adoptive parents), as well as a guardian (guardian of adults and guardian of minors) […]

Concerning a minor, someone who takes custody and takes care of (said) minor is also considered a hogosha.

This means a hogosha doesn’t have to take the role of a parent of a minor, which fits more into the concept of a 親権者, but they’re included in the concept of hogosha. In some cases you can also be the hogosha of someone who isn’t a minor if they’re a dependent person. However, this possible definition doesn’t fit here for 3 very simple reason: 

It’s oriented towards legal relationships and we know Sesshomaru and Rin didn’t have that. 

It implies the hogosha supplies the other person with the necessities of life, something Sesshomaru didn’t do at all.

When Rumiko said this word, right after mentioning it, she added that Sesshomaru didn’t visit her very often so that she takes her future decision freely. This doesn’t match the role of this kind of hogosha, who wouldn’t even leave their kid to others and then expect them to decide to live with them again years later, when according to the setting of the work said kid is now a person of marriageable age. 

Other possible definitions? These. It explains why it can be used to describe a certain type of couple where one of the parts wants to be protected and spoiled. 保護 (hogo) means protection after all. 

Given the context or the manga, the original anime and the sequel it can’t mean legal guardian and definitely not father. It makes absolutely no sense when reading and watching the OG, the notes by Rumiko in the Wide Edition and what’s expected from a parent/legal guardian. It means guardian/protector. 

I think the confussion comes from translating the word without taking the context into account.

Thank God, I always got a bitter taste in my mouth whenever I hear about those movies being “not being canon”. They’re good movies, they do fit pretty well in between the main story, and they’re good movies! This also kind of answers my question about Naraku’s final scene inside the series. Rumiko never reveals what happens to him or even Midoriko in the manga, and I always suspected them both finding peace was added to fix that.

For all you Westerners arguing about "canon" this "canon" that. We have the answer.

Yes the InuYasha movies canonically fit into the original timeline every two seasons - as well as Yashahime. Rumiko Takahashi oversees all of his work. She tells them what they can and cannot do with her characters. Just like it said from the official InuYasha artbook. These are all official and not fan made. If Rumiko Takahashi dies this is the inheritor of InuYasha.

Mod Esther: When it comes to storyline, I can say Rumiko is quite strict about this lol.

It's because she already had a bad experience once when she worked Urusei Yatsura at 1980s.

Movie 2: Beautiful Dreamer is her most dislike movie in the series. Urusei Yatsura was meant a illogical gag story, but the story writer made it into a philosophy movie, which caused her very displeased (frustrated). Ironically, it also became the most famous movie in the series. 😂

So if Rumiko says yes for original animations (the stories that aren't made based on manga), it means she's very satisfied.

Update: Now as of Yashahime, it has even further became clear of the movies involvement in the original series. With the addition of Rumiko's input on them, specifically that they left out things from the manga to be anime exclusive. Also, it was her idea for the Well to be made from sacred tree wood, used in the first movie.

I was approached by several translators, one included was a Naruto translator. They have all told me that "canon" is not a word in Japanese language.

The words told to me by many of these Japanese speakers, used are:

公式 (official) and 二次創作 (derivative work)

Things like original.

As such, the movies have now been involved in the continuation of InuYasha -

Did you know that InuYasha has real "OC" type characters? In the video game Secret of the Cursed Mask, on the back of the case it also confirms Rumiko Takahashi actually created Michiru and Kaname Kururugi.
