I like this tape for the individual image but in an installation it feels too distracting as it’s so black. Wanted to document anyway.

The prints didn’t come as glossy as I imagined so I decided to improvise with the glass/ perspex from photoframes. I think it actually works better.

Testing different reflective surfaces. I like having one in a frame and it does give the glossy effect that was suggested. The only thing i’m unsure about is the photo getting lost in the reflection. It’s also very difficult to photograph!

I’ve been doing some research into this exhibition and i’m very interested in how all these strands of people watching were brought together into one show.

William Eggleston
Eggleston’s photography reminds me of Wolfgang Tillman’s in how focussed it is on the details of an image. Particularly interested in Eggleston’s work because of his use of reflective surfaces, which is something i’m looking at right now.

Notes during Final Crit (ignore notes about Radio Project)
Most suggestions were in relation to the installation which I will definitely be looking at over the weekend. I have ordered some glossy prints to shake up the textures and also to invite the viewer to be a part of the work. I need to be deliberate in where i’m placing the images and what they’re next to - it all has an impact.

FINAL CRIT!
This is my install for final crit, I’ll be retouching/ retaking these photos because I think that they could be better quality. I will be showing close-up shots and my feedback in the coming posts.

For some reason this photo reminded me of a photo by Catherine Opie that i saw in the Tate a while ago. I’m photographing into a gallery (although it isn’t very obvious) and the idea of being reflected in art as an artist yourself is something that I think could be really interesting.

I really like these photographs - I think contrast between the colours and the shadows are really interesting compositionally and especially the first and last ones give a sense of being on the move.

Some surveillance signage that I thought could work, not quite so keen on these.

Some images of surveillance cameras that I liked. The top one I was initially unsure about since it was so ambiguous, but after a while I really started to like it.

Some photos that I took on Sunday in preparation for the final crit. I was interested in catching glimpses of yourself in reflections and that idea in relation to surveillance. The light was very good which made a big difference and i’m really happy with some of the images that I got. Will be posting more

Listened to this podcast on Tillmans. Was interesting to see how the theme of intimacy comes into his photography which makes so much sense.

Looking at Wolfgang Tillmans reminded me of seeing his work in the Barbican during the ‘Michael Clark: Cosmic Dancer’ show. The photographs really transported you to another place and their scale felt so purposeful and effective in curating the viewers experience.
