source material collection - for doodles I want to draw (and improve), and rays of sunshine in a form of feelings upon reading.Currently very into MOB PSYCHO 100 (in case you haven't noticed LOL)
On like. A Literature Note im really glad for this chapter and how it lengthens the lore behind spirits. Especially w how tome question the societal labels we have in place, askin if theyre applicable to spirits etc etc and like. Dimple answering that the concepts of age and gender vary between spirits, on one hand, is Sweet because thats acknowledging that this identifiers arent 100% applicable to all beings.
Like ONE couldve easily jut kinda been like ‘ghosts live the same and use the same labels/ideals as humans’ and lett it at that. But this chap shows there is definitely distinctions between spirits and the living in terms of their society.
Not t mention the line 'some spirits didnt have a gender when alive’ line.
One of the things that I absolutely love about the mp100 anime is how they decided to animate body language and facial expressions. Like I feel a lot anime won’t do it nearly as well as mp100. Idk how to make gifs but some examples would be like how Reigen moves and how the animators gave him a distinct posture compared to the other characters, or that scene in ep8 where right before ritsu starts to cry he does that face twitch people do when they’re holding back tears. There are way more examples but yeah. Even when I first started watching this show and I was still unsure how I felt about it, this was one of the first things I noticed. Idk I’m not really going anywhere with this, just sharing some thoughts.
The terms we assigned to things play a part in how we feel about those things. Go creative hibernation!
(a rose by any other name...
(if it’s called fartflower would it smell as sweet? Mwahahaha))
I was listening to an art podcast and I heard someone use “creative hibernation” as a term to describe a period of time when your creative energy and flow of ideas is slowing down.
Honestly, it sounds so much better than “art block”. To me, “creative hibernation” sounds less like a negative thing and more like an organic part of the creative process.
“Art block” sounds very definite. They sound like something you MUST actively fight against to break them down in order to continue. “Hibernation” on the other hand sounds more like a thing that happens every now and then but that will go away on its own when it’s time. It’s a stage of gathering energy for the next creative pursuit. Art block on the other hand is an artificial, mental block that actually just seems to solidify the more you treat it like an obstacle to get around.
All creative people go through this type of slowing down all the time and it is completely alright. I thought I would share this because I think the right kind of mentality is actually one of the most important things of recovering your creative energy.
