Imam ash-Shāfi'ī:
Indeed you do not have the ability to please all of the people. Therefore, rectify that which is between you and Allāh and don't concern yourself with (pleasing all of) the people.

الموت ليس اعظم مصيبة، اعظم مصيبة هي ان يموت فينا الخوف من الله ونحن احياء
Death is not the greatest calamity. The greatest calamity is that the fear of Allah dies [in us] while we're alive.

📚 It is incumbent to hold firmly to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and to return to the prominent people of knowledge and insight. As Allah تعالى states: “When there comes to them some matter touching (public) safety or fear, they make it known (among the people), if only they had referred it to the Messenger or to those charged with authority among them, the proper investigators would have understood it from them (directly)…” (Surah An-Nisa: v.83). 📜 📝 Sh. ‘Abdul-Aziz ar-Rajihee حفظه الله

Shaykh Salih al Fawzaan
“The religion is not what men view or consider as good; this is not the religion of Allah. Rather it is the religion of the people which they have innovated. As for the religion of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, it is what Allah has ordained. But what men consider good through their opinions is not the religion of Allah جل جلاله; it is only the religion of those who view it as such. So nothing of religion should be attributed to Allah except what He has ordained through the tongue of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم; and whatever someone besides him has ordained cannot be attributed to Allah. Rather, it will only be attributed to the person who ordained it, and Allah is free from it.”

The root for true peace and happiness comes from the belief in the Oneness of Allāh and worshiping Him alone. Nothing else in the world will give you this tranquility and serenity.
Ibn Taymiyyah said:
“The heart can find no happiness nor sweetness except through the love of Allah and closeness to Him.”
[Majmoo’ al Fataawa]
Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq ibn Abdul Muhsin Al-Badr said:
“Gudiance and Happiness are two affaris which go hand in hand; thus whoever is guided then he is happy and whoever is misguided then he is miserable.”
Taken from the Lecture: The Qur'an the Book of Happiness
Translated by Rasheed Ibn Estes Barbee
“Guidance and Tawheed are from the greatest ways to achieve happiness, whereas shirk and misguidance are from the greatest causes of misery and constriction.”
Imam ibn Qayyim رحمه الله, [The Keys to Happiness, p.25]

Women Being Careless in their Hijaab and Speech
Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan Hafidahullah
“It is upon the woman who fears Allaah and the hereafter to stay away from what many of the women are doing today such as being lackadaisical with the hijaab and easy-going with wearing decorative garments when going outside and being lax with using perfume when going out of the house and intermingling with men and joking with them.
Allaah, the Most High, said to His Prophet’s wives:
“Then do not be soft in speech, lest he in whose heart there is a disease (of fornication) should be moved with desire. But rather speak in an honorable manner.” [Ahzaab: 32]
If a woman has a need to speak to a man that is not one of her mahaarim, she may speak to him, but with a casual tone that has no softness or gentleness in it, and not in a joking or laughing manner.
Rather her speech must be ordinary and in accordance with what necessity dictates – i.e. a question and an answer – as per the need only.
She must not speak in a tone that appears friendly, laughing or teasing, or in a mellow or beautiful voice, thus stirring the desire of the one who has a disease in his heart. This is based on Allaah’s saying:
“But rather speak in an honorable manner.” [Ahzaab: 32]
So the Muslim women of today must fear Allaah with respect to themselves and their societies.”
[Taken from “Four Essays On The Obligation Of Veiling”. Chapter: “Advice To Muslim Women” by Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan, p. 72]

Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (رضي الله عنه) used to say in his sermons:
"Where is the beauty and the handsome? Where are those who were delighted by their youth and good looks? Where are the kings who built cities and fenced them with walls? Where are the victorious in wars? They all perished and ended in the depths of dark graves! Hasten and hurry up [to do good deeds]; but death is faster.”
[Al-Zuhd by Imam Ahmad (2/18), Hilyah al-Awliya’ (1/34) and Sifat al-Safwah (1/261)]
