butimalwaysalana:
OKAY KIDS it’s time for me to be angry about Alana Bloom. Who’s surprised? No one. And I’m not putting this under a cut because to be utterly frank with all the untagged hate I really don’t care. SO. ARE YOU READY KIDS?
AYE AYE CAPTAIN?
I CAN’T HEAR YOU.
AYE AYE–
That’s enough of that. Let’s discuss. Let’s discuss how I’m not dealing with the bullshit people are giving her like she chose to end Chilton’s life by her own hand. Number one! There’s this miraculous thing that should be happening– but never will because we’re all too busy blaming her as the constant scapegoat since we just can’t blame him, guys! Ding ding ding, you guessed it, Will and Jack both have fault in this, too! Surprise!
Alana Bloom went from the heroine back in season 2. We saw her foolishly rush in to danger in Mizumono. Alana was uncertain she would even survive– all she had between her was a gun and her own ability to persuade, a belief that Hannibal would spare her or that she could coerce him. She played big damn hero with 0 regard for her own life and she lost. She came up from it broken, scarred, injured, pained, a shattered human being. Will Graham asks her Are you volunteering? and do you know what she says? Hold on, let me show you!
I FOR ONE AM PROUD OF HER. Unlike Will who has a wife and child and is still gallivanting around trying to catch the Dragon instead of actually comforting them both after being violently attacked he is still putting himself in personal danger. Alana has– developed, oh my god. As a character, she recognizes, her life belongs also to her son and her partner. It is not sole, it is not her own and as a result, whatever happens to her also affects the people she loves, her family. Unlike Will, Alana doesn’t throw herself further into personal danger because she won’t endanger her family and herself and in spite of whatever’s going on has a responsibility to herself and them to stay safe. Do I think to some extent she threw Chilton under the bus? I do. (Don’t start me on this fandom’s bullshit problem with Chilton– this is the issue you have when you get a handsome straight male to play a disgusting insidious bag of garbage– the whole base goes mad and everyone’s clamoring all over but no nothing should ever happen to him!) This brings me to my next point–
Alana Bloom is chaotic good.
These characters are basically good, but tend to be selfish and maybe a bit greedy. They tend to hold personal freedom and welfare above anything else.
Alana is not lawful good as a character. When she loves someone, she puts them first, and her own welfare, by extension of that love, becomes what’s the centerpiece. Note: Mizumono Alana: Had nothing and nothing to lose. The Number of the Beast is 666 Alana: Has everything to lose including a partner, a son, and herself as a member of that dynamic. Note the differences here because the difference is Alana Bloom has become selfish and I for one am proud of her for it.
Let’s keep talking about how the only reason everyone’s blaming Alana is because Hannibal specifically targeted her for the blame. Hannibal puts it on her because he knows in the room she is the most susceptible to guilt. Alana can wear power-suits and her hair in frigidly in control updos but the fact is that underneath there Alana is soft-hearted and will be likely to feel a semblance of personal guilt if she’s goaded into the guilt. It is not her fault and if you’re all going to pin the blame on her because Hannibal fucking Lecter decided to do that, you’re all disgusting misogynists and honestly you should feel awful.
(And if one person tries to tell me Alana is heartless I swear to god that woman watched the Chilton reel with the most broken expression I have ever seen on a human face that woman is not heartless and I’m willing to bet yes, she is going to set this guilt so heavy on herself it’s going to break her back again)
In Bedelia’s session, Will blatantly admits that he wanted to endanger Chilton. He says to her that he ‘can’t say he is surprised’ when she asks if Chilton’s fate is what he was expecting. PEOPLE, HE HIMSELF, WILL GRAHAM HIMSELF LITERALLY SAYS
I KNEW CHILTON MIGHT FUCKING DIE BUT I DID IT ANYWAY BECAUSE I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND HE WAS GOOD BET
THIS IS IT PEOPLE EVEN WILL ASSENTS TO IT. EVEN WILL SAYS HE PUT CHILTON IN THE LION’S DEN WONDERING IF HE’D BE EATEN AND GUESS WHAT, HE WAS? AND WILL’S NOT SORRY ABOUT IT. AND REALLY IS ANYONE ON THIS SHOW SORRY ABOUT IT? THEY ALL HAVE REASON TO HATE CHILTON.
WILL GRAHAM IS MORE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS THAN ALANA BLOOM IS WILL GRAHAM ORCHESTRATED THIS FUCKING SITUATION BUT Y’ALL CAN’T BLAME WILL OR ADMIT THIS TO YOURSELVES SO HERE WE ARE, PINNING THE BLAME ON THE WOMAN BECAUSE YOU JUST CAN’T BLAME YOUR PRECIOUS PRETTY WHITE BOY
Sum up Alana Bloom is a good partner and a good mother and didn’t want to get herself involved at risk of her partner, child and self and Will Graham is an irresponsible dirtbag who’s still throwing himself headfirst into this case and taking as much responsibility as the fandom gives him which is: 0%
I’M PROUD OF ALANA BLOOM AND NOT REMOTELY ASHAMED OF THAT

'Critics complain that they don’t like seeing Katniss upset and crying. They complain that “Mockingjay Part 1” is too slow, too political, not enough action, and that Katniss is not enough of a kick ass super hero… You see, these critics aren’t in the movies for the political subtext or its social commentary or its realism. They only want “panem et circenses,” “bread and circuses,” and that, right there, is the epitome of irony. '

I’m standing in front
of your beautiful headlights.
Unbuttoning my shirt
with my pants at my feet.
I’m completely nude and bare
and opened up for you.
I’m scared you’ll see a flaw,
pick at it and it’ll be something
you won’t be able
to look away from.
I’m scared and happy
you’re getting to know me.
I’m afraid you’ll leave me
and take all you know.
I’ll be left out in the open,
and out in the cold
