“Hmm -- I guess you don’t need this then. Such a pity. Little Hanna will be oh, so disappointed.” The vampire grinned as he showed the giant teddy bear, right before throwing it in the nearest trash can. “Ah, you’re truly such a terrible mother, Red. I feel bad for the kid, truly I do.” To make a point, Alaric sighed dramatically as he patted her on the shoulder before walking past her. Acting like this, pretending and faking it all --- it had been the easy thing to do so. Being this person wasn’t hard at all. But facing the reality, his reality, that was hard. So hard he hadn’t even tried. Nor did he had any intention to do.

Nowadays, everyone looked at Alaric as though he was a nutcase who escaped from the bedlam. And sometimes he found himself thinking that maybe he really was. All he’s been through, all Bernie put him through -- the vampire was impressed by his own ability to fool others into thinking he was fine. He was so far from being fine and while in beginning, the thought of getting revenge had somehow helped him get adjusted to this new life, it didn’t last long. It was funny though, how just a few years ago, he found it hard to live with his guilt and the things he’s done. And now, he couldn’t give a damn about the people he’s killed and continued to kill. He no longer killed for a job or to his brother, he killed just because he could. He was back to his former self and he found that he didn’t need anyone in his life in order to live. He didn’t had to be happy, being alive was enough. And happiness was so overrated anyways.
But while he said that, there were still a few people in Alaric’s life he couldn’t help but just... care for. That was Kimberly’s case. He had grown rather fond of her over the years. She was his brother’s happiness and somehow, his as well. She was a good girl. He honestly hadn’t meant to follow her, but at seeing she was up to no good again, he wasn’t left with much of choice. He kinda missed the adrenaline that came with chasing someone, but he would’t go back to his old life for anything in the world. When the other vampire opened the door, he was surprised too. After the brunette stayed in that room for what seemed 10 minutes, he finally decided to enter. “Can you blame me? What are you up to now, Kim?” Not waiting for an answer, he slid past her and entered the room. It was a big office room, which made sense -- they were in what seemed a corporation.
Kim typed fast against the keyboard. She didn’t had much time. In fact, she had little to no time. She had to get this piece of intel now, or she would never get a chance. It could have been easier to just quit, but the former shapeshifter knew there was no way out now. It had taken her so much in the past to get out of this world, and now, willingly, she rolled right back into it. And this time, the price she would pay would be twice as bigger. But did she regretted this decision? Not really. Without trill, she felt as though she didn’t lived her life at all. And she knew Josh shared he feelings, whether he admitted it or not. Another minute and she was done. Pulling out the memory card, she shut the laptop down and didn’t looked back, and she opened the door. Suddenly stopping, she realized she bumped into the body of a certain someone. Raising her head up, she looked right into their eyes, a little taken aback. “What are you doing here?” Her initial shocked disappearing, it was now replaced by a wave of annoyance. She was angry at herself for not noticing she had been followed. This sort of thing wouldn’t have happened in the past.
