Still thinking about Valentino saying "I think I'll give him less kiss, but in bed everything stays the same" when he was asked about his relationship with Marc. LIKE THAT'S SO UNHINGED TO SAY TO THE MEDIA. If I was a fan at the time I would of thought that man just outed the both of them.

Something I have been thinking about recently (and I know you talked about this previously) is how Lewis doesn’t really understand the essence of Ferrari.
He doesn’t understand what it means to drive for Ferrari, be Ferrari. That to be loved, truly loved, by the Tifosi, you have to love first.
Charles understands it, he lives it, breathes it. (I would also argue that Max probably understands it far better than most drivers but that’s another conversation.)
And I think in part at least, this misunderstanding Lewis is in is due to the Mercedes culture (or lack thereof).
Now, no team is like Ferrari, has the history of Ferrari, the legacy of Ferrari.
But still, looking at other teams - RedBull has a culture. A team that many have likened to a family. Dysfunctional and cruel at times but a family all the same.
Mercedes? Corporate to the bone. There is no real essence of something, anything, there. At least not since Niki Lauda.
And so Lewis paved his path, his corner in Mercedes until his name became synonymous with the brand. And then he leaves. And he goes to the team with the most history, the most success in Formula 1. A team that has taken world champions, chewed on them and then spitten them back out with nothing to show for it.
A team that doesn’t need him, doesn’t need his brand.
And I genuinely think it’s hard for him to wrap his head around how different Ferrari is, how different the Tifosi are. How deeply they love Charles.
Might even be somewhat frightening to realize that your seven titles mean less to them than a single win with Ferrari.
And I just don’t know if Lewis will be able to live with that. Especially with the state of the car as it is and his attitude… quite downtrodden to say mildly.

This is soooooo. I think you're absolutely spot on, anon, and you've summed it up brilliantly. For so long, Mercedes fans were Lewis fans. Who, really, is a Mercedes fan? Mercedes as a brand, as a car, is iconic, but as you say, as the team it's just ... pure corporate. Which is exactly what Toto wants it to be.
And I agree with everything else you've said here. This switch and realisation for Lewis that he's essentially no one for Ferrari must be incredibly hard. I don't know whether he wanted to understand the team's culture, but I don't think he gets it. Not really. And no, not like Max, I agree.
With Max, I just think it's also because he grew up with Schumi, and because he still seems to be at the point where, despite his titles, he doesn't see himself to be greater than the sport, or the team, and especially not one like Ferrari.

With the team vs driver culture around Ferrari, I see it as when I think of Schumacher, I automatically think of Ferrari, but when I think of Ferrari, I don’t necessarily think of Schumacher. Ferrari really exists on its own, but its drivers don’t. Not really. Comparing that to Mercedes and Lewis, when I think of Lewis, I think of Mercedes, but the difference is that when I think of Mercedes, I think of Lewis. Those two exist together. If that makes sense?
Now, maybe I’m biased from only getting into the sport last year. I never saw Schumacher drive, except from watching old races, whereas I saw Lewis drive and win a race for Mercedes. But I also knew of Schumacher long before I knew what formula 1 was other than driving cars, but already then it was Schumacher = red. So I don’t think it’s too biased of an opinion.
I do think it makes sense!!
I'd add that probably, when you think of Ferrari, Schumacher out of everyone is who you most likely would think about, but it's not the identifying factor.
