Excerpt from a rant I wrote under a Woochul fanfic dissecting their relationship in Solo Lev Ragnarok

Spoilers from Solo Leveling Ragnarok Chapters 301 and 302

Chapter 301: SJW most concern about WJC back on Earth and WJC's struggle with PTSD from previous timeline and yearning a god out of reach

Some background spoiler relevant to our boys: in Ragnarok sjw has to leave Earth again to fight against the outer gods, and on Earth wjc locked in the moment gates start appearing (hes a veteran atp XD being one of the only ones who remember the past timeline and all) and created the Association and took the lead

WJC, still A rank, started doping (the steroids joke in this fic is real now!!) on rune stones to increase his strength to the point his body cant handle it, but sjw, extremely worried, before he left (or he made his son do it for wjc i forgot), did smth i forgot specifically to help only wjc to adjust to the influx of mana ;-; THEYRE BFS YOUR HONOR

Wjc in the new timeline is still alone :( the novel literally show how how trapped and haunted by the past life he still is and that has taken extreme measures to prep humanity for the inevitable war that will take place (he fears it daily), then he has no one and the only important person to him is literally a god, out of reach for him ;-; UGH THE ANGST

And about him remembering, in solo lev side stories even sjw was surprised that wjc managed to remember, meaning he remembered sjw on INSTINCT, bro forced himself to chase those memory fragments himself T^T and then chapter 301 in ragnarok had sjw literalky going the person im most concerned for on earth is wjc bc hes always overworking, to the point sjw had to erase his memories multiple bc of the immense ptsd wjc experiences, but wjc remembers on his own EVERY SINGLE TIME, even pleaded with sjw not to erase it.

Solo Lev Ragnarok chapter 33 of the manhwa, when wjc gets reintroduced, his work desk, no pic of family, wife, whatever, the singular pic on his desk was a pic of him WITH SJW!!! wjc is the chairman of the association rn, and ughh on Earth he literally vowed to protect sjws family no matter what to repay the insurmountable debt that he owes him bc he doesnt know how else or what he can even offer to a god. And tank you sm for giving wjc such a lovely family here bc wjc literally went "im an orphan, no fam, no kids no wife, but its better that im alone anyway bc i can focus on protecting himanity without liabilities"

Chapter 302: Kintsugi symbolism in relation to SJW dealing with WJC overdosing on rune stones

god x overworked mortal trope except the mortal is constantly yearning for the other and anguish over not being able to offer/help the other more who is practically a transcendental being beyond the limits of human, with said god constantly making sure said human is okay despite being worlds away and reminiscing and worrying about him... Bromance so peak its romance--

Also if you care to know, i just reread chapter 302 of Ragnarok too and omg, wjc doping for power buff literally make his body start cracking and disintegrating, but sjw's help goes beyond just "making it so his body can adapt to influx of mana", no its more beautiful than that (he passed the soulstone to beru then beru brought it back to earth and gave it to sjw son to use it on wjc)

The novel literally invoked/likens the process to Kintsugi

Rathen than just fixing him because hes broken, its "ceramic being reborn by the hands of a craftsman" which in kintsugi means clueing the pieces together with gold again to not only accentuates the beauty in imperfection but also giving rise to an entirely new kind of beauty ykwim.

These are all canon materials i cannot believe it!! Okay everyone, its chapter 301 and 302 in ragnarok for Woochul crumbs- not even crumbs, its in our face!!

Apologies for any awkward order or wording, these were taken straight from a comment section where i got too passionate spreading the words on Dauls (the author of Ragnarok) choice to give this much depth to Woochul.

I think the best part about Jinchul in SLr is the fact that they kept dropping small details here and there about just how extremely serious he is about protecting earth, but you dont get the full picture until you get to meeting him that you are just like "oh wow hes gone off the rails OKAY!"

Although I think the part that drove home for me that he was just, not thinking sanely would have to be when he proposed the choker bombs on Villains to be wrapped around their neck. Or you know, when he just gave full on permition to Taeshik and other people to go ahead and kill villains and pay them for that. I mean, its obvious when you hear it from me, right now, that Jinchul was obviously crossing the line way before we got told directly that 'yup hes not well mentally.' but considering most action manhwas and, just the general vibe about action fantasy has about stripping criminals from human rights and simply letting them die a gruesome death (heck even SL had bunch of those moments) I was like "oh yeah Jinchul is just being hyped as this hero of justice following along Jinwoo's steps to guide people"

BUT NO, instead Daul really said "This man is suffering a past trauma that he constantly relives in his dreams, he fears everyday that the war hes seen will come back again, porbably even worse, and for that he wants the world to be prepared. Hes on constant alert, hes choosing to take extreme measures for the sake of humanity, the lonelyness he has held for so long has not made him stronger by any means but instead so much more insecure becuase now the only person he has in his life is basically a god, unable to protect earth anymore as he has always done. And as the only one who knows the past he is consumed by the pressure of doing everything he can in order to not let the earth descend into chaos. He cannot even choose to have the past erased becuase those memories just refuse to leave him, and even if he did have the choice, he would NEVER want to erase them, no matter how much its poisoning his mind, no matter how much he suffers. Becuase he's just a man."

And thats just without the shipping goggles off, with them on it just hurts , it just hurts. To Jinchul, Jinwoo is a friend, a family, a hunter, a hero, a god-- his only one-, a monarch, a human, a survivor and the entire reason the world still persists. (While also not mentioning hes the sole reason of Jinchul's trauma since the more he spends with Jinchul the more hes afected by his aura. same to what happened with Ilhwan.) Brother hes MORE than codependent on that man than anyone of us will ever be.

Some Chulwoo headcanons because why the fuck not

- both of them don’t really know when they fell in love with each other; it just happened. one moment they’re meeting purely as a hunter and a representative of KHA during one of incidents, next they’re literally living together. but truth be told it happened gradually, the more and more small meetings they had purely because of jinwoo’s (mis)adventures the more they started to learn about other. by time jinchul asked jinwoo to meet gunhee they were on close friendly terms and jinwoo easily knew how jinchul drunk (but not loved) his coffee, while jinchul knew that he and jinwoo share taste in tea. /jinwoo will never admit that his heart skipped a beat at jinchul’s relieved smile when he agreed to meet gunhee, nope. jinchul will absolutely never admit that jinwoo’s showoff in dungeon worked/

- jinwoo had a tendency to randomly appear near jinchul and thus scaring him. he ultimately stopped appearing unannounced after startled jinchul knocked him out several times with his kick or punch.

- jinwoo unironically got scared by jinchul several times after they stated to live together. first time it happened jinwoo got up to drink cocoa only to stumble in dark corridor with sleepwalking jinchul. jinchul has no idea he actually sleep walks and jinwoo doesn’t see any need in telling him so (but he’s not more careful when walking around apartment at night and makes sure his summons keep track on jinchul when it happens).

- jinwoo is one of few people that know that jinchul hates coffee but drinks it to be functional. he once brought jinchul a good cup of coffee as an apology and while jinchul’s face said nothing he saw how man’s lips slightly curved down and he had overall air of displeasure. after that jinwoo makes sure to get jinchul best brands of tea (when fucking up) or herbal tea that helps with sleep or stress relief.

- their first ‘kiss’ was absolutely not romantic. it happened after jinwoo’s awakening as monarch, angry and worried jinchul marched to jinwoo (while himself being barely allowed out of bed and having his hand in a brace) and grabbed him by hospital garb and just kept angry breathing because no words came out. man eventually gave up trying to say anything and just tiredly placed his head on jinwoo’s shoulder, jinwoo in return kissed his messy hair as a sort of comfort because he also has no words. they sat silently like that until both fell asleep in the most awkward pose.

- after that jinwoo actually found out that he likes to kiss jinchul’s hair because it’s just so fluffy and smells like citrus. first time he tried to do that after they both got out from hospital he was greeted by gel in jinchul’s hair and spent long time spitting it out.

- jicnhul accidentally found out that jinwoo is in fact a big lazy cat. he likes to be petted and scratched and has an awful tendency to lean on jinchul. he also doesn’t know what ‘personal space’ means.

- both of them are so tired and overworked they barely have time for proper meetings outside work. they even rarely spend time in each other’s apartments, but when it happens it’s usually one or both of them crashing on bed to just sleep. when things become more stable they actually buy a shared apartment because managing two separate ones is a pain.

- both of them are not morning persons, but jinchul handles it slightly better due to his working schedule. he’s still sleepy and tired but he can collect himself to get ready and even cook something easy for him and jinwoo who takes longer to get up. it’s completely reverse when jinchul knows he doesn’t need to get up early, man can sleep until lunch if someone won’t wake him up. one time it was so bad jinwoo wasn’t able to wake him up until his carried this blanket burrito to kitchen and woke him up with smell of food.

- both of them are fashion disasters, so it’s usually girls helping them out or pick casual wear. even jinwoo was actually scandalized to learn jinchul has almost to none casual wear. after girls dragged them through every cloth store jinwoo actually didn’t recognize jinchul in casual wear until jinah lost it and laughed. and then jinchul had no idea why people kept staring at him while jinwoo was annoyed people do stare at him.

- usually it’s jinchul offering jinwoo psychological comfort when jinwoo starts to fear he’s losing himself and his humanity. jinwoo can openly talk about his fears and jinchul just silently embraces him this whole time offering all the comfort he can provide. in rare instances jinchul is having a mental breakdown from work jinwoo is the one to take the burn of it, of yelling and swearing and broken furniture. he’s never angry at jinchul for that, instead offering comfort and peace when jinchul calms down and starts to regret it.

- their first actual kiss was really accidental. jinwoo leaned too much to see papers better while jinchul explained, and when jinchul turned his head jinwoo was too close so they ended up touching lips. it was really awkward because it was right in front of KHA members and gunhee.

- jinwoo knows jinchul is a really strong hunter but there’s still that irrational fear of having jinchul in a dungeon. he’s extremely happy that jinchul’s job rarely involves actual raids but when it happens he makes sure to have beru or igris to accompany him just in case.

- jinwoo never understood how exactly his animal summons ended up loving jinchul more than him. even worse is that out of them all only kamish can give any answer but dragon just huffs and proceeds to nap in jinchul’s arms like a big domestic cat after he learned how to shrunk himself. jinwoo labeled him a traitor.

- both of them try their best to not have secrets from each other. both are also self sacrificial idiots. they really try their best.

- jinchul was actually afraid of properly meeting jinwoo’s family because jinchul himself is an orphan that managed to snatch the heir of family. jinchul isn’t a coward but closer they got to door the more he wanted to run away. in the end he was warmly welcomed into family with no issues whatsoever.

- jinwoo had a crisis when he realized he actually likes when jinchul commands him. be in in daily life or in bed. especially in bed he’s more than happy to be a service top because jinchul is too tired to do anything himself.

- after sleepwalk scare fiasco jinwoo developed sleeping octopus tendencies to keep man in bed at nights. this backfired because jinchul has problems to untangle himself at mornings.

- jinchul tried to keep his relationship a secret, turns out everyone knew long time ago and placed several bets. needles to say jinchul almost murdered entire KHA stuff until betrayal from gunhee crit hit him. his own boss and father figure was the one to initiate bets. jinwoo knew but did nothing because it’s just hilarious.

- surprisingly enough they did get married, but jinwoo being jinwoo (disaster) did it any other way but not classic one. he found wedding rings in one of dungeons with insanely good stats and shared buffs. proceeded to give one to jinchul (without checking that it’s wedding rings). got them married by some outwordly weird ass way. they still have no idea how exactly it works and what more needs to be done. jicnhul theorizes they’re stuck together for life.

Adrien knew that wasn’t fair to blame Ladybug for this. There were rules, and now that Master Fu was gone, it was her job as the Guardian to enforce them. There were rules, and he knew the rules, and he broke them. He hadn’t meant to, but he did.

That didn’t make losing the ring hurt any less.

Plagg shot Ladybug a skeptical look. “And you really think you can do this without him?”

Ladybug bit her lip. “I… I don’t know. But I have to. It’s my job, I shouldn’t need… I should be able to do it with anyone.“

But… maybe there couldn’t be Ladybug without Chat Noir. Ladybug by itself didn’t sound nearly as cool.

Multi-chapter. I put off reading this fic for the longest time because I didn’t know if I could handle the angst of Ladybug taking the ring from Adrien, and I really regret that because it’s SO FREAKING AMAZING. Missnoodles does a fantastic job of exploring their relationship and their characters and really does the work of exploring all the feelings. I really can’t sell this one enough.

Anhedonia/When Adrien Met Marinette… by @mikauzoran

Chat Noir hadn’t been lying when he told Ladybug he’d moved on. It was only when he found out that Ladybug was Marinette that he realized he was wrong. Meanwhile, Marinette thinks that she’s missed her chance when Adrien insists that he’s gotten over his feelings. Now, they’re roommates and making themselves miserable as they pine for one another, thinking the situation’s hopeless. Things finally come to a head, and they’re forced to sit down and have an honest conversation about their feelings.

One-shot. Adrien is pining and feeling unlovable, and wow, do you ever feel all of his pain and anxiety seeping out of every word. This is just so heartbreakingly beautiful with a happy ending.

One-shot. Hawk Moth’s identity is revealed and as a result, Ladybug and Chat Noir share their identities with each other. Not nearly as angsty as some of the other fics on this list, but have some sweet hurt/comfort after all of that.
