Week 11 SDL Photos
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I took some photos at the Britomart Market and on my walk home i was finding it harder to get the right exposer as it was an overcast day and quite bright outside. When looking back on the photos they are not as interesting as I thought.
I also took photo in the City Center at night I loved how these photos turned out they are all very moody and have a purple sky which. makes them more interesting. The coloured lights at the civic look vibrant and look really cool adding to the dramatic effect i was going for.
Princess wharf Is one of my favourite places to go i like to just go enjoy the view and being by the water with the wind on me. There is not as much going on in these photos but that is what i love about it feeling very calm and serene.
Albert Park is another one of my favourite places I love being able to go from the city centre to being surrounded my nature and tall trees. with this photo shoot I was trying to follow there the sunlight was hitting and finding where there were shadows and creating a nice composition using the pathways a focal to draw a viewers eye into the scene.
This was by far my most successful week of photographing and I have learned a lot about how to take a successful photo and being able to balance the ISO, shutter speed and aperture to get the right exposer to suit the scenes.

Beauty In the blurry
Tumblr media
I see the world through a different lense than most, I have been short sighted since I was about 10. Without my glasses I cant see more than 2 meters away from me without it being blurry. I think this is part of the reason that I find blurry/out of focus Photographs so cool showing everyone else what I see though my eyes. This is why I have experimented with blurry/out of focus photos. I feel like they just leave you with the overall feeling of the scene rather that focusing on on one thing.

Chris Corson-scott
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These three images above are some of my favourite photographs of Chris corson-scott. The warm light in the first image is so inviting it makes an ordinary place look interesting. In the second image all the details of the tree are captured really well and the shadows help compose the image successfully. The third image is very interesting i like having the focal point on the poppet head/mining shaft and having the bushes and mountains in the distance it makes this photo very dynamic.
Chris Corson-scott is a New Zealand Photographer and has had his work in many exhibits. chris only uses his an only fashioned 8 x 10 view-camera as he want to capture fleeting moments and say that it is critical to the aesthetic of his work.
Chris Corson-scotts's "photographs ask us to pay attention to the future of human occupation of our planet; and consider how the quest for sustainable development in this century will collide with these structures." Chris had also done multi day hikes with his 8 x 10 camera to capture the natural world before it disappears.

History of Albert Park
Tumblr media
Albert Part has become one of my favourite places in Auckland City and so i wanted to do some research about the history of it.
The postcard above shows two people resting at the park with the fountain in front of them (1882) at the centre and the band rotunda (1901) off to the right.
Before Albert Park was a park it was military barracks/accomodation during conflict in the Northland form 1845 to 1846 and troops where stationed there until 1871 as the buildings were demolished when the barracks were no loner needed .
The park was then built ten years later and named after Queen Victoria's husband Prince Albert and designed in a public competition in 1881, by architect James Slater. Sir George Grey previously the governor donated 200 plants and trees to the park and more donated by prominent colonial resident Judge Thomas Gillies. Notable trees include an ombu tree, a South African coral, a monkey claw tree, and a circle of English oaks. with some of theres trees still their today.
““Victorians loved walking in their parks, and the area surrounding Albert Park became a wealthy neighbourhood in the 1880s with beautiful ornate merchant houses surrounding the Park” says Mica Plowman, Principal Heritage Advisor at Auckland Council."
Albert has a long history and it is amazing that the land and park has be preserved all these years so thousands of people can enjoy visiting it every year.

Chris Gin
Chris Gin is a New Zealand landscape photographer he take photos of mostly oceans, lakes, mountain views and city landscapes.
Chris suggest that you plan where you are going to take photos beforehand and to pick the best times of day to go and that landscape photography takes practice and weather conditions could make it harder to get the right shot. Try going to lesser known locations do not get limited to the same locations. Lighting is one of the most important things to get good photos, chris says "if the light does not do the scene justice, the image usually wont work". The best nights to shoot landscape photography is early morning or late afternoon known as the golden hours to get beautiful colours and soft lighting and midday when the sun gives off the harshest light. composition is also another really important component to getting good photos you could do this by guiding the viewer into scene with leading lines this could be a road or pathway. Chris also suggest using the histogram graph as you can see the tones that are being captured and see if there is any detail being lost with too much or too little light.

Week 9 - Week 10 SDL Photo
Week 9
Auckland city fish market - I like the mural/artwork outside and decided to take my camera out and just took some photos inside while waiting for my food. The photo of the hanging plants was interesting but these photos were not as successful as I would have liked.
Matakana Village Farmers Market - I when out to the farmers market with my grandparents and I found it fun taking photos somewhere new with a different context, taking photos of people and people watching. Markets are a really nice community event, being able to support local vendors. As it was an overcast day it was hard to get the lighting right but there was still some successful images including the image of the produce stall.
Week 10
Auckland City at night - I found that these photos were not veryu successful quite a few turned out too dark and I could have picked a better place to take photos.
I would like to try and take some photos at sunset to have more light and a colourful sky so the photos are more interesting.
Albert Park - These photos were very successful and i have included my favourites below. I love the shadows in the first image it make it feel very calm and still. I also like the last photo the reflection in the puddle add a lot of intrest.

Conceptual Photographer Uta Barth: 2012 MacArthur Fellow ...
youtube
Uta Barth is a German American photographer. Uta Barth focus on perception "how do i get you to let go about thinking about whats depicted" and make the viewer aware of their own perceptual process.
"To draw with light" - Uta Barth started only taking photos in her home with drew her focus onto light how it changes throughout the day and how she could control and manipulate it. The light is the medium for her work. It is simplistic yet powerful.

Visiting New Plymouth
photos taken at home, street and Fitzroy beach.
Home: Capturing photos of my dog poppy trying out photos from different angles and perspectives. My favourites are the wide angle photos of her in her bed.
Street: Experimenting in taking photos of moving cars with a lower shutter speed trying to capture the lured effect of cars moving past. Would be cool to try this out at night too.
Fitzroy Beach: Just having fun taking photos at one of my favourite places. Love the photos of the water and the photos of all the driftwood are very interesting.

Albright Sabin - BrightsImages
https://www.instagram.com/brightsimages/
I found this Melbourne landscape photographer on Instagram and really admire his work. He photographs focus on composition.
The photos with the pink like are really beautiful, the composition of the first four photos works well as the focal points are in the centre and or having lines, pathways and roads draw our eye in. The first photo has the road that draws your eye to the focal point/the mountain and the colours in the sky make it more interesting. The last photo is quite different to the rest of his photographs it is showing a nature scene is a different way, the line showing a car quickly moving and drawing out eye into the scene.
I can use these photos as inspiration to creating successful and powerful compositions to get viewers attention.
