I did one of these awhile ago but unfortunately got logged out and lost access to it so I've decided to start a new one up.

I really want this to feel like a place that everyone can feel comfortable and confident in and just have people around them that they can lean on

Having a FtM Little Means…

*FtM is Female-to-Male, someone who was not born genetically male but identifies or is transitioning to such*

Reminding them that their perference in toys is not an indication of their gender (Dollies are for boys too!)

Making sure they bind safely! (NO Ace bandages, tape, etc. Only bind for 8 hours a day, and take one day a week off from binder. Don’t wear binders that are too small, etc.)

Accepting that they will take your big hoodies (Partly because baby, partly because hoodies help with dysphoria)

Reminding them that toys, clothes, cartoons, and other baby things don’t have genders

Reminding them not to sleep in their binder

Telling them how handsome they are

Reassuring them that they’re a real boy, no matter what type of body they have

Helping them with T shots if they are afraid of needles

Comforting them during shark week and taking care of them (Warm blankies, cartoons and movies, yummy snacks)

Understanding that their tantrum may be dysphoria related and not punishing them

Helping them find cute, masculine baby clothes that don’t make them dysphoric

Reminding them that they will get the surgeries that they want some day (and that they are still valid even if they don’t want a surgery)

Helping care for them during surgery recovery

Ask if they are okay with you correcting others when they get misgendered

Understanding that they may not be out to friends or family, and asking how they would like you to refer to them when around others

Learning what phrases or actions can trigger dysphoria and avoiding them

Unless they say otherwise, don’t talk about how they “used to look”

Helping them through dysphoric episodes

Using pet names such as “Baby boy” “Little boy” “Prince” etc.

Reminding them that when they take a break from binding they are not less of a man

Not overcorrecting yourself if you slip up. It happens, sometimes a “Princess” or a “she” will slip out. We get it. The best thing you can do is just say sorry and then say the correct name/pronoun. Please do not go on and on and on about how you’re sorry and explaining why you slipped up and how we need to give you more time. This goes for any trans person, regressor or not. It’s making a mountain out of a molehill and it can make us feel worse than the actual slip up.
