Gestalt Vector Art WWF Design

The technique used for this project was a very simple use of Illustrator. The original image that this was based off was used as a reference in which line was drawn using the pencil tool and a technique called blend object in the object bar was used to multiply the lines to give it this effect. This technique is new and undiscovered as it has not been going on for a very long as this was technique was posted in an article at college. This method was used by a famous illustrator in 2015.
The existing artifact for this project was the original WWF image was used a basis, where the original shape was kept, but the style was changed.

Animaker Project

Existing Animaker
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zft_Hy5FfVo
The technique used for this was a web program called animaker. It is a quick and easy site to make a simple animation in minutes. There were no references to any history of animaker, but it seems that it has been around for a couple of years. An existing artifact was found on youtube made in a similar style it was used as a reference on how the video should look.
This particular piece was selected because it was interesting and something that could easily be explained, as well as entertaining. My major decisions made for the animaker was on what topic the video should be on and how I was going to present it. The skills used was a just very simple organization, and drag and drop of the pre-made design, the challenge I mostly faced was the fact that I was unfamiliar with the program and how it worked.
The most successful features of my piece would be that it works and is presentable. If there were more time spent on it, I would have made the video more smooth and understandable; along with the fact that the video is too fast and does not last very long. So I would try to improve that.
There was no peer review given as the video was not shown to others, as the video was made in the last second. An improvement would be to make better of use of time management and to stick to the deadline.

Portfolio Assignment ARG
http://prezi.com/g_eg532eijoz/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy
The technique used to display the ARG is a simple web program called Prezi. Whereas the production method was a team effort of research and discussion; The group decided on this particular piece at it was a common factor between us and the subject allowed for many ideas to follow through.
The major decisions made was the choice of subject and how we were going to present it. The most challenging thing was to co-ordinate between the group and completing the six-month plan needed as we were not sure how specific it needed to be.
Photoshop was used during production for the websites designed by Simon and myself along with the creative input from our third teammate. The contribution I have made to this project would be the design of the Prezi, along with one of the creative pieces, and providing assistant during the final write up of the ARG. Unfortunately, we did not have time to peer review our ARG as such we have no feedback in which we could have used to improve out work.
The ARG itself was the hardest task to complete as it was not easy to complete a six-month plan with great accuracy in the little time that we worked on the project. Along with the fact that we originally had a fourth teammate but due to certain circumstances we had to change the production load from four people to three to even out the workload.
The most successful features of the piece would be the finished design of the presentation. If we were to undertake the task again, better time management would be necessary and more specific written work should have been added.
An example ARG would be the one made for Batman Dark Knight where visitors to San Diego Comic-con found many ‘jokerised’ $1 bills, which led them to the website www.whysoserious.com. On the site was a call to arms, summoning wannabe Joker henchmen to a particular spot near the convention center the next day.

Photo

The Image directly above it only an example.
Selective colorization does not seem to have much of a history as it is somewhat modern thanks to the improvements in modern technology. During earlier years it was not possible to add color to a black and white (B&W) image as such technology did not, you may have been able to take color out of an image, but it was not very effective.
The effect that I wanted to achieve was to add color realistically to a B&W image, like in the example. I wanted to bring color back to the image, but at the same time, unlike the example, I did not want it to be selective as it would not have looked realistic or be very effective as it would have diverted the attention of the viewer.
I picked this particular piece as it seemed challenging, it looked like an image that had potential to stand out, the major creative decision was whether or the image was to seem realistic or abstract, the problem was fixed by finishing the product in both styles and chose the most appealing one.
The main techniques used to do this project were very simple as only the paintbrush, eraser and blur tool in Photoshop along with a simple blending technique which was all I needed to make the image come to life.
There weren’t many challenges during production as I have a solid understanding of what the tools did and of Photoshop.
The most compelling feature of the image would be the details and colors chosen to give it depth and realism. If it were to be done again , more attention would be given to the rocks on the shore as when looked upon closely they seem unrealistic; the water could have also used some work as it was overworked and did not seem real.
