John Rider didn’t know.

He didn’t know his boy, his son, would be what he never wanted for him.

John Rider held his son, only a few months old, and made the decision for him. Made the decision to take his son out of this world before he’d ever wind up with his name underlined on a list somewhere.

He left the espionage world to have a son and wife. He’d have fought and killed and died for Alex.

But fourteen years later, Alex Rider fought and killed and nearly died himself just to hear John Rider’s name from someone else’s mouth. To know what he would have wanted for Alex.

And as Alex took what was supposed to be his final breaths, he saw the man in plain clothes. Maybe praying that the Rider lineage would end with the peace his son would need to finally sleep.

To finally carry his son to bed.

In the middle of a work day is a really bad time to suddenly rediscover some inspiration for editing the video I'm working on 💀

The pressure is there though because it came from me realising that I'm very proud of my last 3 fanvids and wanting to match the quality level 😭😆

just re-read the ending of Russian Roulette and there is genuinely something so devasating about that last scene between Yassen and Alex.

Yassen was trying SO hard to protect Alex from the pain/trauma/loneliness of his life (tbh he did a bit of a poor job at articulating it, but that's besides the point)

and even HE can't save Alex from this dark path

he uses the one bit of goodness he's got left, but just like himself, Alex too is doomed, and idk there's just something so sad about that realization
