Offer Accepted
After considering my options and the fact I gained a place at London College Of Fashion for Fashion Design and Development I came to the decision to accept that offer and withdraw my application from Westminster (as I am still waiting for a response) and decline my offer from Nottingham Trent as London College Of Fashion is my first choice University.
The course and it’s tutors are amazing, they have incredible facilities and links with industry that are unparalleled to any university across the country. Being ranked 4th across the entire globe for Fashion Design degrees it is almost impossible to decline this offer.

I received a conditional offer from Nottingham Trent University which meant I must have atleast a C in both English and Maths (both of which I have A*s) and A levels in Textiles and Graphics (again, I already have these at grades A* and B).

Personal Statement
Fashion is a tool for expressing individuality, creating character and personality for everyone. It fascinates me to see how different styles are manifested through design and manufacture and I enjoy making clothes that look beautiful but have originality. From the complexity of structural designs by Iris Van Herpen, hailed as a pioneer for using 3D printing as a construction technique, to the dark, gothic silhouettes of Gareth Pugh who challenges the norm of what a garment is through fabric manipulation and alternative materials, fashion is highly influential worldwide.
My A levels gave me knowledge in many aspects of art and design. Although starting on an academic pathway, I realised my true calling and fought to get on the fashion course nearly 9 months after the academic year had started. My determination and tenacity drove me through 12 months of work in just 3 months. The hardest skill to develop was pattern cutting, I am proudest of this as my maths skills have allowed me to become an experienced pattern cutter and I can produce original garments with an exclusive look. Studying Graphic Design improved my software skills and I use Photoshop and Illustrator at an exceptional level. I completed a MOOC in Graphic Design through Shaw Academy. From this, I learnt techniques such as refining images and designs in Illustrator and have continued to flourish in this by completing digital fashion illustrations.
I chose to study Art Foundation to garner new skills and talents within my chosen specialism as well as others. I have been successful in refining my work and finding myself as a designer, discovering new techniques and processes. I am highly motivated and don’t stop until I get the job done to a high standard; My strengths are documenting research and sampled responses in a sketchbook, completing design ideas, manufacturing garments and recording a professional quality photoshoot. I organised and managed a Fashion show which helped me understand every stage of fashion design and the challenges involved in different aspects of a show.
I spend much of my free time engaging in activities to broaden my knowledge. In July 2017, I attended The British Style Collective in Liverpool. This experience consisted of runways, designer showrooms and a fashion show in which designers showcased their work. This enabled me to experience the immense work that goes into collections. Also, I draft my own patterns and make clothes for myself to further better myself as a designer. The ‘Vogue On’ book series, which consists of biographies on Dior and Coco Chanel, is something I enjoy collecting.
I have pushed myself even further by participating in extra curricular activities to better myself as a designer. I worked with a company called Possabilities who provide assisted living for people with learning disabilities. In August I designed and manufactured costumes which were worn by parade participants at Manchester Pride and from September to November I designed and manufactured over thirty costumes for the companies dance show. It has been incredibly rewarding to work with these amazing people and I have found that fashion design isn’t just about making clothes but making the people that wear them feel happy and beautiful. I have also designed a logo and signage for a rave in Liverpool and I am proud to say that my A level teachers chose my final piece to be entered into the Saatchi Gallery Prize. This allowed me to realise that my true passions lie in fashion design as it enables me to develop my personal design concepts.
With my dream to be an innovative designer and my drive to succeed, I hope to express my style through articulating my talents in fashion at an admired institute with the best facilities. At University I hope to refine my style further and establish myself as a conceptual designer. By following my aspirations, I hope to one day revolutionise fashion through garment construction and design.

University Choices
After careful research and consideration I have decided that my desired courses are:
1. Fashion Design and Development at London College Of Fashion
2. Fashion Design with Marketing at Central Saint Martins
3. Fashion Design at Westminster University
4. Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University
I only chose four course because I really didn’t take any interest in any of the other course I researched. These 4 have only the best facilities and produce graduates with skills beyond comparison to the majority of university’s across the country. My aims and aspirations in life have pushed me to these decisions because I want only the best from my education to set me up for life.
