“I can appreciate the moodiness of a stormy day but I’ve always been one to favor the sunshine over it,” she explained in response. “A go with a flow type of person then, hmm? Can’t say I relate. I’m someone who often over-plans and thinks things through. Seems I didn’t foresee the change in weather today though.”
“I can get that.” Though she didn’t really mind it honestly. There was something very dramatic about it and it was nice to watch it when you were inside. Not so much when you were stuck out in it from experience though. “Planning is great but I just think it stops you from having some of the best experiences.”

Alexus: Do you want to meet up at the festival?
Alexus: I was walking past it the other day. It looks interesting and there's a gin bar I'm sure you'd enjoy.

“I sincerely hope that wasn’t the rumble of thunder I heard just now,” Pepper looked up to the sky nervously before looking to the woman again. “Did you check the forecast today? I don’t think I saw any chance of rain but I guess things around here can change up in minutes.”
@alexuscallahan
“Not a fan of thunder?” Alexus surmised at the expression that was suddenly playing over her features. “But no, I didn’t check the forecast. I generally don’t. I just go with whatever the weather brings me.”

“Me too! Me too doubled actually,” Alastair said, “My dad is a musician and I’ve recently started myself. I’m in a band called Velvet Concord,” he explained, “As long as Mr Maestro doesn’t hear you call it a playground, you should be alright,” he replied, laughing, “Oh no, I am very particular about my own instruments but these ones collect dust until bought otherwise. I mean, I play them sometimes but I do have instruments of my own in the back and more at home.”
“Interesting, you’ll have to let me hear your music some time.” Alexus encouraged though she pulled a face at his next comment. “That’s not his real name is it?” Because that was really on the nose if it was. “I mean, isn’t a place like this a playground to most avid musicians. It practically looks like heaven to me.”

“Of course. Any time,” Bentley assured her, not the type to make empty offers. “It is,” he nodded. “Many years of studying and training as an apprentice. It takes time but it’s all worth it in the end if you ask me.”
“How far through the process are you?” She couldn’t resist asking, not sure that she’d have the determination to manage getting through it like he was but Bentley really loved what he did so she imagined that really helped.

“You play guitar?” Alastair asked, grinning, “Me too. Since I was nine. I still have my first one. She’s seen some things over the years but she still works and definitely my baby,” he nodded, agreeing with he sentiment, “Of course you can understand why I’ll still need to keep an eye while you test some out. You know how valuable they are. But I’ll let you take your pick anyway.”
“Yeah I do. I have a band actually. I’ve played since before I can remember.” Quite literally in fact. She found herself marvelling at all the different instruments they went past and she could seem to compare them to ones she already knew. “That’s fine. Somehow I didn’t think you were going to just let me make this place my playground. I wouldn’t let anyone near mine pretty much.” She could understand it and it really didn’t bother her.

“I hope you’re not lonely though. And if you ever get that way? I’m just a call or text away, yeah?” he offered up, clearly unaware of the hardships that she’d faced to get to where she was today. “That’s kind of you to say, thank you. I definitely tend to be hard on myself, especially when it comes to things I care about so much like this. It’s also a lot of hard work, but I need to remind myself that I am up for the challenge and will be better for it on the other side.”
“I’ll be fine, I’m sure, but thank you for the offer anyway. I’ll keep that in mind.” And she would. Alexus wasn’t the type to ignore or be ungrateful of genuine offers like the one Bentley was giving to her. That man seemed to ooze generosity and genuineness however. “It’s a long process becoming a Veterinarian too isn’t it?”

“Geez, where do you work? Because I thought I saw a lot working with kids, but you sound like you’re on a whole other level.” Roxanne replied. “You can rest assured, it’s certainly a… bold thing to be saying in public.”
“I work in an every day human pub, not anything magical. That’s why I say this doesn’t really phase me in that sense because that’s just another new thing that I assume is normal here.” Alexus wasn’t sure that she was explaining it properly but she tried despite that. “I’m guessing from your response that it’s not a normal thing then?”

“I mean, they’re bones from what I believe to be a pygmy shrew.” Louise commented, looking from his book, to the bones and then back to the other again. “But I obtained them from owl pellets and they haven’t been washed all that thoroughly, hence why I have on gloves and that I’ve kept them sat in a tray.”
“Okay, ew.” Alexus couldn’t help but respond, taking half a step back when he told her what it was. “Just why, are you carrying the bones of whatever a pygmy shrew is around with you?” She found herself asking after a moment. It wasn’t exactly a normal every day item to tote around in ones bag.

“You heard that, right?” Roxanne asked. “And before you say anything, it’s not like I’m eavesdropping, they really shouldn’t be having that sort of conversation in public.”
“I’m going to be real with you here,” Alexus began when the woman put that question to her. “There is so much in this world that completely has me caught off guard that I guess I don’t know what is shocking and what is normal to witches and wizards. I feel like I’m in some sort of twilight zone on the daily.”

“Me neither. Sounds like a crime,” Alastair admitted with a laugh, “We don’t always let people play them but I sense you are a fellow music lover and for that, I can allow it,” he said, “They’re this way,” he pointed in a direction and started walking, indicating for her to follow.
“I am. It’s why you really don’t need to worry about my treatment of them. My guitar is normally like an extension of my body. It’s practically my baby.” She admitted with a little laugh as they moved further into the shop, clear fascination on her features as they began to pass more peculiar items that she wouldn’t have seen in the muggle world.

“Well okay, you don’t know shit now but you probably did at some point, right? Unless you’ve gone this whole time with no exposure to the magical world which would be insane but something we can work with. I still like my first theory,” Astrid mused, wondering if she’d be able to go through some memory recovery process even if they weren’t sure she had those memories in the first place. “Yeah, we do. The ministry’s full of them. I can show you if you want,” she offered with a shrug. “It might be better if you use the ones at Hogwarts for a start though, like for beginners. I’m pretty sure some of my clients are the professors there so I can get you in contact with one of them and they can tell you where to start so you’re not thrown right into the deep end.” Astrid grinned, “I do, yeah. I’m a potioneer. Think like, engineer or chemist but make it magic,” she explained. “I make potions and antidotes for loads of things. Some of them may help you, actually.”
“What makes you think I knew any of this?” Alexus really didn’t understand where the girls assumptions were coming from or whether it was just because she’d explained to Astrid that she didn’t remember much of her past. The others insistence was a little bit grating to Alexus who was just trying to acclimatise to the whole situation without reading too much into it right now. “I’d like to have a look around though. Try and read up on the things I’m supposed to know about. Get myself some of the basics like a wand and stuff.”

“I wouldn’t touch-… I mean, I guess it’s not my place to tell you what to do, but, I know where that has been and I would really strongly advise that you maybe don’t touch it. And if you already have, maybe don’t put your hands anywhere near your mouth until you’ve washed them.” He told the other, somewhat sheepishly, not liking being so forthcoming but knowing that the other would benefit his warning.
“What is it?” Alexus couldn’t help but ask, unsure of what it was she was looking at. Things like this still fascinated her because everything seemed so new to her but she appeared to be heeding the males advice.

“I did not realize that was such a popular fashion today,” Chloé almost snorted, especially at the way the young woman had chosen to respond to her with. “I mean I could’ve come with a police sketch but I figured that’d be a little creepy,” she joked, pulling some a notebook and a folder from her bag as she waited on her coffee.
“Well apparently it it.” She couldn’t quite understand it either but then, she preferred leather jackets to practically any other type. She did raise an eyebrow at the womans next comment though. “Yeah, well that would have raised some questions unless you’re an Auror. Which I’m assuming you aren’t.” From what she’d heard anyway. She was still trying to get her head around all the roles.

“Right, just looking for clarification since people often come here not knowing about music but I never like to assume,” Alastair explained, “So you’re new to magic then? That’s cool. Well, this store is pretty similar to the muggle world with a few additions of musicians and instruments in our selections,” he continued, “Let me know if there’s anything specific you need help looking for but I can leave you be to browse if not.”
“They must have a revelation coming here then. I can’t imagine ever not knowing about music.” It was the one thing she did remember about her life before she ended up where she ended. “Can you show me the wizarding instruments? Can we play them?” Of course, she was interested to see and learn the differences, eager even as she let her eyes wander again.

“That sounds like a very stressful life to lead. You must be on edge a lot,” sympathy heavy with each of his words even if Alexus wasn’t showing any indication of it taking a massive toll on her to speak about such things. “It’s pretty good actually,” Bentley smiled warmly. “It is an insane amount of work and sometimes I have doubts I’ll make it out in one piece,” he confessed with a light chuckle. “But if at the end of all of this I can help save animals lives for the rest of mine? It’ll all have been worth it.”
“I think you just get used to it mostly.” At least Alexus had. She’d gotten used to doing what she had to just to keep herself afloat. It wasn’t a bad life, it just hadn’t always been easy. “It seems from my experience with you that you’re perfectly capable of making it through. I would say that the reason you find it hard sometime though is probably because you set your expectations of yourself so high though.”

“I mean… so do you– probably,” Astrid commented in return. “You just kind of learn to accept that these completely wacko things are normal when you’ve been in the Wizarding world for your whole life, but now we’ve got to figure out what you know and what you don’t,” she said. It sure would be an interesting puzzle to solve, now that Astrid was sure she wasn’t going to be leaking secrets to a no-maj. “You think that’s freaky? You should come to my potions lab. I’ll give you some much cooler things to experience.”
“What I know and what I don’t? I thought I’d been very clear on the fact I don’t know shit and what I do know, my friend Ben has been teaching me.” But she knew she couldn’t keep running to him all the time. He had his own life to live so she’d been trying to research herself. “Do you have like... magical libraries here or something? Somewhere I can look and learn by myself?” That way she wouldn’t have to rely so much on everyone else. She wasn’t used to having to do that in the first place. Still at the mentions of Astrid having a potions lab, it seemed to grab Alexus’ attention. “You have a potions lab?”
