“you know what? you do have a point,” he nodded. “this is just getting more and more complicated, and all i can think about is snow white,” he joked. “here we go,” he spoke before taking a bite out of the cupcake. “stay close to take me to a hospital, if needed,” he joked.

“Good man! I like that idea, we should make a musical about that. Also, can we go get a drink after this? If we’re gonna die might as well have one last drink.”

“i’ve been meaning to do a musical, and i did play romeo when i was like eleven, so this all works out. and all because of the cupcake plenty of people said i should just toss away. you don’t need to say it twice!”

“i think your agent was right, i don’t think you should eat it.”

“come on, where’s your sense of adventure? this is a literal case of you don’t know until you try it, and i just don’t know if i can live without knowing what could have happened. i’m too curious.”

“i already agreed, i can’t go back on my word. an almost politically correct romeo and juliet, it fits with our times.”

“i think we may have just planned out details to our funerals and i don’t know if that’s too morbid or not.” she said with a small laugh. 

alfie chuckled at her words, she was indeed right. “as long as we’re not planning on ending our days i think we’re only being prepared.”

“Damn… I’m not sure. That’s a tough one because on one hand it looked delicious but on the other hand… it still looks delicious so fuck it. Also, that advice will cost you one half of a cupcake, sir.”

“one-half? damn, that’s some expensive advice. but you did tell me what i wanted to hear and that means if i die i won’t be alone. i’ll accept it.”

“i’ll be on cupcake duty, i think i can handle that. i haven’t been to many funerals with swag bags, but at my funeral i’m definitely making sure theres some awesome gift bags.”

“thank you, i’ll forever be in your debt and quite literally too because i would be dead,” he chuckled. “that actually sounds awesome, i want that on mine too.”

“ah, i see. you always have a positive spin on things—i like that.” maddie smiled small, a light giggle escaped her lips at his antics. “well–how about i buy you one and none for me. i’m more of a cookie girl.”

“yeah, i guess that i am. i figure being negative never helps anyone. you gotta give life a chance to surprise you for the good,” he smiled. “cookie girl, i can respect that. how about cupcakes for me and cookies for you? a bit of sugar goes a long way on making the day better.”

“and make sure everyone gets cupcakes at my funeral. i think that would help people deal with the loss. -- believe me, i love a good gift bag. it’s one of the main reason i go to some of these parties,” he half-joked.

“i wanna say yes, because like.. free cupcake but also maybe not? although the reasons in my head for eating the cupcake heavily outweigh any reason not to so my vote is for you to eat that cupcake.” 

“a girl after my own heart. you see, the world needs more people like you and me -- the few who truly understand the value of a good cupcake. and did i mention it's red velvet? i’m not that strong.”

“if you mean the most awesome adventure to ever be told -- save maybe for the darling kids’ one, that was pretty awesome too -- then hell yeah i want to do it.,” he replied animatedly. “i guess i can just buy some. or you could buy me some?”
