Bad Dreams
The most basic of human AUs with child Iceland and big brother Norway. Iceland is Emil and Norway is Lukas. Enjoy!
It had been a long day for Lukas. Nothing but paperwork and making sure his younger brother didn’t get into trouble. Of course, he couldn’t blame the boy, he was but a child, yet it still was frustrating having to go into the kitchen every time the silver haired kid got stuck on the counter, finding it too high to climb down. This particular night, the Icelandic boy had fallen asleep early, a lucky break for Lukas. This gave him some time to get some extra work down and set the house in order.
A few hours after he had laid the child down in his bed, Lukas himself had headed off to sleep. About ten minutes had passed before he vaguely acknowledged the soft patter of feet in the hallway. The soft creak of his bedroom door had succeeded in rousing the drowsy Norwegian. He had sat up to see the small boy slipping in the door.
"Emil, is something wrong?" Lukas asked softly, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
A small nod came from Emil, as he shuffled toward the bed, still in a sleepy state. He crawled up onto the foot of the bed, plopping down in front of Lukas, sniffling a little. “I had a bad dream.”
Ah, that explained a lot. Occasionally when the little islander would have a nightmare, he would come running into Lukas’ room to spend the night there. It was a rare occurrence that hadn’t happened in months. Lukas gave a small frown before picking up the small boy, holding him tightly. “You don’t have t’ worry, I’m here t’ protect you.”
"But th’ monsters were big and they had big teeth and glowing red eyes," The little boy stretched his arms out to make a reference to just how big this monster was,
"Doesn’t matter, I’m not afraid of those monsters." Lukas smiled softly and set the boy down next to him, pulling the blankets up to his shoulders, "You can sleep in here tonight, I’ll be right here if you need me."
