in grade school i kept one of those plastic bug catchers full of just any bug i could get my hands on and forgot it on a shelf in our very cluttered house and when i checked on it it was overflowing with tiny moth caterpillars chewing out of the netting and wriggling and dying all over the place. a couple times after that i tried to keep bugs or frogs in jars or other little containers with some vegetation but at some point i would always freak out and let them outside. looking back i think this shaped my feelings on pet ownership in general
