Ashido: So what exactly is Denki to you?
Jirou: The reason I wake up every morning.
Ashido: Aw, that’s actually really nice.
[earlier that morning]
Denki, bursting into Jirou’s room: DUDE YOU’LL NEVER BELIEVE THIS-
#stuff i didn't hear them say but might as well be canon; {incorrect quotes}#bahahaha#this is too funny

Mina deflated like a balloon. "A girl can dream." she mumbled with pouty lips but her characteristically cheery nature didn't stay gone for long as his words registered. He was going to try her cooking! "Still underestimating me, huh?" She tsked good naturedly then pumped up a fist. "I will just have to prove you wrong then!"
A giggle escaped her. She tried stiffling it but couldn't. After today's events, the mental picture of Mineta flying was impossible not to laugh at. "Aw, now I wish I had been there to see it."
On a different note...for someone who had bigger grades than she did, Mineta wasn't all that smart. But she supposed being academically gifted and emotionally intelligent were two very different things. Possessing one didn't automatically mean you had the other. "Seriously though, it's just nail polish. If his masculinity hangs by that small of a thread..." she trailed off as she grasped his hand and started removing the black-coloured coating by repeatedly rubbing the soaked cotton pad on it.
"Rockstars paint their nails all the time and no one battles an eyelash! If I can get on the floor and breakdance which, at its core, is a 'guys' thing then so should you be able to have your nails painted without anyone talking crap. This..." The pinkette gestured to his clean fingernails. "...doesn't make a man." She looked up and met his eyes. "This does." Mina said in a meaningful tone, patting Bakugou on the chest lightly where his heart was.
"As for your question...yes and no. The nail polish remover contains something called isopropanol. It's a secondary type of alcohol but it's not the same as, say, pouring vodka over your fingernails."
aliaspinky:
She felt her eyes widen at his words, freezing mid-bite. “No-uh, I’m not complaining!” Mina protested. “Denki started it, after all and we both agreed that had you been in my stead, Bakugou…you would have done the same thing and returned the favour.” There was a red tint to her cheeks now. He was perceptive and the reverse psychology tactic could only work so much.
The pinkette hid a knowing smile when he grumbled and grabbed a rice ball for himself but didn’t comment on it. Maybe the explosion king wasn’t that different from a stray cat that, while not exactly opposed to being taken care of…valued its independence. She resumed her eating, taking the fourth and last riceball after finishing with the first she had been holding. The fact that Bakugou had forgone eating in order to cook for her meant a lot. Or maybe…he wasn’t taking any chances with the nail polish she had yet to remove. Either way, Mina was grateful. She finished eating and told him as much.

“Thanks, Blasty! I look forward to you cooking for me again some other time but…” she paused, eyes sparkling. “…you know what this means, right?? You have to try mine now! It’s only fair.”
Picking up the plate, she stood up and placed it onto her desk before going inside the bathroom only to return with the nail polish remover a few seconds later. He was getting impatient and in a way? Rightfully so. Mina plopped back down on the carpet, facing him. “Did the guys give you a hard time?” she asked curiously as she tapped one of his fingernails once before lifting the lid to the small recepient and dabbing a cotton pad in said substance.
Crimson hues rolled, as he turned his head away from her. She was right, although he’d never admit it. Then again, Denki would never even have the balls to throw food at him of all people. “Have you tried beating that little shit up!? Put him in his place once and he’ll know he’s beneath you!” Bakugo grinned in a haughty manner.
After they had finished eating, Mina thanked him. “Tch, who says I’m gonna cook for you again, racoon eyes?” He frowned slightly as she insisted on cooking for him. “I’m not gonna get my expectations up too high.” He’d been thoroughly disappointed by just about anyone else’s cooking that he’d tried.
Once she had the remover in her hands, Katsuki laid his palms on the floor, just like last time. “Hah, that trashy grape said something to the shitty pikachu when he thought I couldn’t hear him. The look on his face when he realized I heard him was almost as satisfying as sending him flying! Serves that extra right!” His lips twisted into a feral grin at the memory.

The blonde gave the pinkette his hands reluctantly, but he supposed he was getting more used to her touch, especially after she’d already painted his finger nails. This process did, indeed, seem more simple at the very least. The liquid had a familiar smell. “What the hell? Isn’t this just alcohol or some shit?”

aliaspinky:
Mina shook her head in fond exasperation. “Not true, silly!” she argued as she closed the door, picked up the plate and in a snap judgement decision, joined him on the fluffy pink carpet, first kneeling then tucking her legs underneath herself. “Why do you think I’m so cheerful right now?” Sure, she had stopped crying awhile ago but anxiety was still present.

Bakugou wanting to make her feel better was reassuring, further cementing the fact that no matter what was going to happen on their mission, they’d have each other’s backs. She refrained from calling him sweet, though. “You did help. If not for you, I would have had to spend time cleaning the kitchen and cook on top of eveything else.” she paused as she picked up a rice ball and took a small, experimental bite, chewing slowly before swallowing. It was simple, but good.
She might not be the brightest fish in the sea academically-wise but if Mina knew something, she knew people…or at the very least made an effort to do so. More observant than people gave her credit for, the pinkette recalled what he said upon first seeing the state of their kitchen. She wondered if he had eaten anything at all but rather than ask, she decided to be assertive. “Let’s share. I can’t eat everything and I don’t want it to go to waste.”
Okay, maybe that was not entirely true but a little white lie couldn’t hurt. Besides, she had made dessert earlier. “And relax, will you? Unlike nail painting, getting rid of the nail polish is very easy. You could even do it yourself, Bakugou but since I insisted to get that there, it’s only fair that I remove it.”
His sleeping habits were something else but if they worked for him, who was she to judge? Half of Mina envied his iron-clad discipline.
“How should I know?” Honestly the way she could stay cheery all the time was almost unnerving to him. He was angry all of the time, and he didn’t understand how someone could be happy all of the time instead. His eyes narrowed a bit at her next statement. He was perceptive of others, even though he didn’t necessarily understand people’s emotions half of the time. “Tch I thought you were content with that shitty knock-off Pikachu cleaning the kitchen. Not as innocent in the mess as you had me believing, huh!?”
The fact that she’d tricked him a bit did tick him off. However, her offer to share the food did appease his anger a bit. “After all the trouble I went making this shit you can’t even eat it all!? Tch.. Fine.” He actually was hungry now that he realized it. He realized it had been awhile since he’d last eaten. He took one of the rice balls and plopped it in his mouth. His cooking was pretty good, as usual.
He scarfed down one more, and then held his hands out impatiently. “Hurry up and finish eating so I can get this crap off!” Maybe it was easy, but the blonde had no idea how to do so, not that he wanted to admit it. Regardless of her telling him to calm down, he was pumped up as usual.

Mina shook her head in fond exasperation. "Not true, silly!" she argued as she closed the door, picked up the plate and in a snap judgement decision, joined him on the fluffy pink carpet, first kneeling then tucking her legs underneath herself. "Why do you think I'm so cheerful right now?" Sure, she had stopped crying awhile ago but anxiety was still present.

Bakugou wanting to make her feel better was reassuring, further cementing the fact that no matter what was going to happen on their mission, they'd have each other's backs. She refrained from calling him sweet, though. "You did help. If not for you, I would have had to spend time cleaning the kitchen and cook on top of eveything else." she paused as she picked up a rice ball and took a small, experimental bite, chewing slowly before swallowing. Unlike nail painting, getting rid of the nail polish is very easy. You could even do it yourself, Bakugou but since I insisted to get that there, it's only fair that I remove it."
His sleeping habits were something else but if they worked for him, who was she to judge? Half of Mina envied his iron-clad discipline.
aliaspinky:
Mina didn’t get upset easily, it was not in her nature. Pink skin, unusual eyes and horns weren’t for the faint of heart. She took most comments in stride, laughed some of them off, even. There was the ocassional pout, frown and glare, of course but crying? It was too much for something so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Besides, she had known Denki and Mineta for almost three years now.
It shouldn’t have affected her so.
But it had.
She was significantly calmer after hopping in the shower and washing off all that flour. Maybe she had needed a good ol’ cry, after all; needed to realize that the real reason behind her tears weren’t Denki or Mineta…but the prospect of going on her first mission alone. Alone as in, no teacher or pro-hero in vicinity. Just her…
…and Bakugou.
And no, he wasn’t the issue here. While certainly not her first choice of a partner, he was definitely amongst the top ones. Explosive temper and colorful speech aside, when the chips were down…no one fought harder than he did, or was braver for that matter. And Mina couldn’t just let him do all the heavy lifting. She wanted to be someone he could rely on. It was no light feat, going to capture a villain all by themselves.
Hence the pressure.
A familiar voice echoed next, causing Mina to freeze. She had been drying off her hair with a towel, clad in clean and casual clothes. The pinkette rushed to open the door, not wanting to keep him waiting more than she already did. “Of course I didn’t forget, Blasty. Sorry if it looked that way.” She apologized, rubbing her neck in a sheepish manner before stepping aside, already on the move again. “Come in. Nail polish removal takes no longer than five minutes unless you—”
She stopped mid rant and slowly turned around to face him again, shifting focus between the red of his eyes and the food he was holding. Mina had to do a quick double take. Did…did he actually cook for her? She blinked at him.
And then squealed, hands clasped together.

“Awww, thank you so much!” she exclaimed, taking the food from him before quickly setting it down on her desk and tackling him into a tug. “You didn’t have to, I was going to come look for you after drying off my hair, you know…” Mina reassured the blond.
Bakugo gave her a slow blink once she opened the door, his usual scowl prominent across his features. She seemed as cheery as usual, almost as if the earlier confrontation in the kitchen hadn’t even happened. A once over glance told the boy that she’d recently had a shower. Had it really cleared up her mood that much?
“Tch…” He grumbled, feeling like he’d cooked the riceballs for no reason. He supposed it was better than dealing with her tears, however. The explosion king had no idea how to deal with someone’s crying. His body stiffened a bit at her hug. He should be used to it by now really, but the feeling of physical contact was still so alien to him.

“Yeah, whatever, just take the damn things!” He practically threw the plate at her, but instead shoved it into her arms. “Looks like you didn’t even need my help anyway!” He scoffed a bit, before barging into her room, and plopping down on the carpeted floor.
“Just hurry up and eat so you can get this shit off my hands! I need to get to bed early for our mission tomorrow.” Katsuki was well known to go to bed incredibly early every night.

The pinkette watched him scold Denki and demand that he takes responsability with wide eyes and an open jaw. She hadn’t expected to be absolved of all guilt, just like that. Sure, she had hoped prayed, really, not to be his wrath’s only target. For Bakugou however, it seemed a no-brainer. Denki started it, Denki was cleaning it up. Never mind how half the mess was Mina’s own fault.

And the best part about it all? She hadn’t even been trying to escape cleaning duty. Not that she was complaining, oh no. She’d be taking this win. Revenge and reverse psychology had never tasted so sweet! Bakugou was having a hard time meeting her eyes, too.
He is cute. She thought, trying to stiffle a giggle with the back of her hand as he turned to yell at Denki once more. “Come then, Blasty.” she said cheerfully. “Let’s get that nail polish off.” Mina grasped Bakugou’s arm to pull him along with her but not before sticking her tongue out at Kaminari from her place behind him.
“Did you see that? She is evil!!” Denki pointed out childishly. “Yeah, you used your womanly charms and Bakugou fell for them!” Mineta yelled from his place on the sofa.
Mina frowned as she glared at the smaller guy. “Not everyone thinks with their dick like you! I was actually going to clean up the kitchen by myself…” then she turned to face Denki, a hurt look on her face. “And evil? I have been baking for the past two hours and a half for all our classmates, you two included and then you came and made my job harder than it has to be! I haven’t eaten anything yet or started on my homework and now I’m all covered in flour and I have a mission tomorrow and my bag isn’t packed and…”
A choked sob escaped her as she let go of Bakugou’s arm and ran upstairs. Denki and Mineta immediately looked down at their feet in shame. They hadn’t meant to make her cry and when she put it like that…
“Yeah yeah, just get off of me would you!?” The blonde grumbled when she latched onto his arm. He was just happy to be getting the polish off finally. However, that’s when the two idiots in the room had to start a bunch of drama. After Mina stormed off suddenly. Bakugo blinked in confusion, before rounding on the other two.
“How the fuck am I supposed to get this polish off now you fuckwads? Do you know how to remove this shit!?” They both looked at him terrified, and shook their heads. “Then fix this! Go apologize or whatever!”
“B-but Bakugo.” Mineta stammered. “Sometimes it’s just best to give women space when they’re angry with you! I don’t think she’ll an accept any apology from us right now! Especially if you force it from us. I do feel bad though.”
Bakugo growled in frustration. How could he fix this? The pinkette usually was able to shrug off stuff like that. Was it really just a case of low blood sugar or something? “Tch move you useless pieces of crap!” He cleaned a small section of the kitchen, and took some rice and other ingredients out of the fridge and cabinets.
A half hour later, he’d made some simple rice balls. The blonde went up to her room with them and knocked on her door. “I hope you haven’t forgotten about our deal Pinky!”

And…her worst fears had just come true.
“Ah, Blasty!”
Mina jumped at the sound of Bakugou’s angry shouting, nearly dropping the cooking ustensils she had been holding in the process. Nearly. Grip tightening before lowering them down in the kitchen sink, she winced and slowly spun around to face him. “I can explain!” she cried out defensively, holding her hands up in a placate sort of gesture.
The pinkette took a deep breath before quickly blurting out. “Denki started it!” she promptly ignored said guy’s indignant protests and stepped closer to Bakugou. “I was minding my own business and then he came, hit me with flour and…” Mina carried on explaining, becoming more and more theatrical in both speech and mannerisms. “What was I supposed to do? Just stand there and take it?” She knew reverse psychology was a gamble in and on itself but using it on him of all people?
Eh, she was dying either way. Might as well try. “Would you have ignored it?” The notion of personal space had always been a bit of a foreign concept to Mina so, it shouldn’t come as a surprise how she breached Bakugou’s right now by standing on her tip toes and blinking up at him innocently.

Before Bakugo could explode entirely, Mina frantically encroached into his personal space, attempting to explain herself. He didn’t even have the time to attempt to yell, since she was talking non-stop, in an almost theatrical way. He felt himself growing more overwhelmed by the second, but through the overly dramatic story, he eventually figured out that Denki threw flour at her first.
It was his fault.
It seemed the pinkette’s reverse psychology worked, as he turned his attention upon the other boy in the room. Denki immediately stopped protesting and started looking very nervous under the explosion boy’s glare. “Clean up this mess you God damn Pikachu or I’ll kill you!”

“S-sure right away!” The electric hero reluctantly agreed, and got to work quickly.
“Tch I can’t believe that extra, treating the kitchen like that!“ Crimson hues finally settled back on the pink haired girl. “I can see why you did it, not that it pisses me off any less.” He glanced away, awkwardly. That was about as close as she’d get to an apology.
“While this brain dead loser cleans up the mess he made, I got a job for you, raccoon eyes. It’s time to take this shit off of my nails.” Katsuki’s attention shifted back to Denki. “The kitchen better be clean by the time we get back!”

And...her worst fears had just come true.
"Ah, Blasty!"
Mina jumped at the sound of Bakugou's angry shouting, nearly dropping the cooking ustensils she had been holding in the process. Nearly. Grip tightening before lowering them down in the kitchen sink, she winced and slowly spun around to face him. "I can explain!" she cried out defensively, holding her hands up in a placate sort of gesture.
The pinkette took a deep breath before quickly blurting out. "Denki started it!" she promptly ignored said guy's indignant protests and stepped closer to Bakugou. Just stand there and take it?" She knew reverse psychology was a gamble in and on itself but using it on him of all people?
Eh, she was dying either way. Might as well try. "Would you have ignored it?" The notion of personal space had always been a bit of a foreign concept to Mina so, it shouldn't come as a surprise how she breached Bakugou's right now by standing on her tip toes and blinking up at him innocently.

aliaspinky:
There was flour in her hair. On the tip of her nose and ears, her brows…there was so much flour that Mina suspected some had gone inside her cleavage also but she wouldn’t know for sure until she went to take a shower. The pinkette always got a little messy in the kitchen though the results usually more than made up for it.
Well, she hoped so.
Otherwise Bakugou would have killed her for nothing. Because he would, make no mistake. The explosion king could go on and on about how he didn’t like cooking but she doubted the kitchen having been reduced to a white hazard would sit right with him. She wondered if she could get away with throwing the entire blame on Denki…
He was an easy target and half the reason why she had this problem in the first place. He had flickered up a spoon with flour and aimed it straight at her.
Naturally, Mina did the mature thing and returned the favour. And the rest was war history.
Was it wishful thinking however, hoping she’d manage to clean it all up before Bakugou saw? Their joint assignment would be starting tomorrow, they were supposed to see each other today so she could remove his nail polish…
Bakugo was working on his homework in his dorm room after class, when his stomach growled. He tried to ignore it, and soldier on through his studying instead, but the growling only got louder. He reluctantly made his way to the kitchen, and was disgruntled to see it covered in flour.
“What the shit!? What kind of dumbass-” He paused as he finally made out a figure in the clouds of white dust that permeated the place. He could just make out… lots of pink. Though it was hard to tell, considering she was coated in the fine white powder.

“Racoon eyes!? What the fuck did you do to the kitchen!? This is why I hate sharing my space with a bunch of damn extras! Clean this up! How am I supposed to make my god damn own food with this mess!?” He was very angry about the state of the kitchen indeed.
#phantasmalcalamity#i aim to be lionhearted but i still get scared sometimes; {v: u.a. student}#awww#i'm glad!

Was it wishful thinking however, hoping she'd manage to clean it all up before Bakugou saw? Their joint assignment would be starting tomorrow, they were supposed to see each other today so she could remove his nail polish...
aliaspinky:
What did he mean by, someone like her? And how did he manage to make favouring sweets sound like an insult? Hmph, Blasty has definitely not tried out any good ones!! Mina thought and resolved to see that he does the next time she makes mochi. She didn’t agree with the whole ‘cooking is a girly hobby’ thing. There were more male chefs in the world than there were women. Although, she supposed their culture had a big influence on how they viewed stuff like that. “But Bakugou…” she whined. “…how can you know my cooking sucks if you have never even tried it?”
The pinkette couldn’t speak for the others, of course but she could speak for herself.
“I can remove the nail polish tomorrow after classes, then.”
Mina stared at him thoughtfully. She supposed the comparison between her eyes and raccoons wasn’t that far off. “So, you don’t think they are ugly?” she released his arm, half of her wondering why Bakugou hadn’t just snatched it or pulled away. Could it be that…he was getting used to her touch? Obviously not enough to let it stand for extended periods of time but the thought still made her feel weirdly happy.

“I don’t need to try it to know that it tastes like crap!” He yelled in frustration. “Every other extra’s cooking I’ve made the mistake of trying has been shit. Especially the other’s at the dorm!” Sato’s cakes weren’t half bad actually, but he needn’t bring that up now. Most everyone else was a terrible cook.
“Good I can’t wait to get this shit off of my nails!” He grinned in a scary way, excited to be done with this challenge already, but angry about having his nails painted in the first place. “’Sides our mission is the day after that, and I don’t want this shit on my nails while we’re trying to catch a villain! I need to look badass when I catch him!” Katsuki exclaimed haughtily.
“Racoons? Nah they aren’t ugly.” He answered honestly, oblivious to the obvious undertones in her question. “I’m getting out of here now cause it’s getting late, and I need to be rested for our mission. You better be rested too so you don’t slow me down anymore than you already will!” It was only 8 PM, but the explosion king always went to bed so early. He stormed out of the room. Tomorrow he would get this polish off once and for all!
#phantasmalcalamity#i aim to be lionhearted but i still get scared sometimes; {v: u.a. student}#ok so this idea came to me and i just had to write it#since they had discussed food and mina wanted bakugou to try some of her cooking#now she actually looks like a raccoon lmao 😂#what with the flour and everything

What did he mean by, someone like her? And how did he manage to make favouring sweets sound like an insult? Hmph, Blasty has definitely not tried out any good ones!! Mina thought and resolved to see that he does the next time she makes mochi. She didn't agree with the whole 'cooking is a girly hobby' thing. There were more male chefs in the world than there were women. Although, she supposed their culture had a big influence on how they viewed stuff like that. "But Bakugou..." she whined. "...how can you know my cooking sucks if you have never even tried it?"
The pinkette couldn't speak for the others, of course but she could speak for herself.
"I can remove the nail polish tomorrow after classes, then."
Mina stared at him thoughtfully. She supposed the comparison between her eyes and raccoons wasn't that far off. "So, you don't think they are ugly?" she released his arm, half of her wondering why Bakugou hadn't just snatched it or pulled away. Could it be that...he was getting used to her touch? Obviously not enough to let it stand for extended periods of time but the thought still made her feel weirdly happy.

aliaspinky:
Mina’s eyebrows rose. “Oh…” Losing against her must have hurt his pride even more than she had thought then. She hadn’t suspected rock climbing to be a hobby of his. And now she wondered if anyone else knew. Bakugou didn’t strike her as the type to flaunt his personal interests. Then again…people didn’t try to get to know him, being much too put off by his explosive personality. “I have more of a sweet tooth but I don’t mind spicy food.”
Come to think of it, eating was the bare minimum, too, just like sleep but he was pretty good in the kitchen from what she had noticed. “Cooking is a nice hobby.” Since she couldn’t give him a thumbs-up, Mina settled for a smile before nodding along as she painted the last of his nails. “Yeah, I’m done!” she announced cheerfully, taking a moment to admire her handiwork. “And black is definitely your colour, Blasty! It goes with your hero costume, too!”

She closed the small nail polish tube after putting the brush back inside. “Let me know when you want it removed.” Mina hesitated, biting her lower lip nervously but ultimately decided to go ahead and ask. “Wait.” Grasping his arm so he wouldn’t leave yet, she added. “Why do you call me ‘Raccoon Eyes’?”
“Tch, of course someone like you would like sweets. Why am I not surprised?” His eyes rolled in a sarcastic manner. At her next comment, the blonde’s temper reared it’s head more. “Who the hell said I have a girly ass hobby like cooking!? As if I’d enjoy that shit. Not my fault you all suck ass at it!” The explosive boy growled. He secretly did enjoy cooking, but no one needed to know that. It was unbecoming of a strong boy like himself.
“About time!” Bakugo exclaimed once she was done. He immediately withdrew his hand, and studied it with a frown. It wasn’t so bad. She’d did a neat job at the very least, and it was black. It would go with his hero costume, wouldn’t it? And his dark personality as well.
“I want it removed right this instant, dumbass! But it’s not a challenge if I don’t leave it on for the day I guess.” The explosion king was ever too stubborn to back away from a challenge. He rose up, and then turned to leave, but was suddenly grabbed by Mina, and asked another question. It caught him off guard a bit, and he wasn’t sure how to answer even. “Cause your eyes are big and racoon like I guess?” He awkwardly scratched the back of his head. “Can you let go of me now!?” Physical contact always made him feel uncomfortable.

Mina had come fully prepared to be turned down but also determined to stand her ground. So for Bakugou to give in without any pestering whatsoever... "Oh kami..." she breathed out. "...just how hard did that rock hit you?" she blurted out, now actively worried about him. She knew he had come a long way from calling them all 'extras' and picking a fight 24/7 but moments like these were still baffling to witness.
Before he could change his mind and take back his consent however, she stepped closer to him and poured a little water over two tissues. Bakugou taking their height difference into consideration by proffering his forehead to her made Mina's job much easier. Rather than standing on her tiptoes to reach him, she merely craddled one side of his face.
It didn't look like it needed stitches even if the rock had pierced the skin. "Hold still and tell me if I'm hurting you." then she gently started patting the injury to clean off the dried blood.
aliaspinky:
In all honesty, she had expected a more violent reaction than the one Bakugou just displayed. Still, it wouldn’t kill him to be a tad nicer to his classmates, would it? Mina didn’t attempt to argue or protest; there was nothing wrong with resting or taking her time admiring the view.
Even if getting called pathetic had stung a bit.
She knew it was no light feat, what she had done. And besides, wasn’t the first step in earning Bakugou’s respect…proving yourself? Mina hadn’t just pulled her own weight…she had beaten him, too. And that had to count for something.
She’d make it count.
Aizawa-sensei stood before them, listing off the rankings of today’s rock climbing. The feedback was unexpected, though. “Ashido, you not only came out on top but also stopped to think of the others and quite possibly saved them from injury.”
Here, Mina shook her head. “I missed a rock, though and it hurt Bakugou.”
“True. But doing something is better than doing nothing. More rocks could have hit him. ” Then he turned to face Bakugou. “The race was a close one and you kept going despite the pain. As pro-heroes, you will find yourselves many a times in situations where you can’t stop just because you got hurt. That resilence will you serve you well in the future but for now I recommend getting your head checked.”
He paused as he nodded at them. “You did good, both of you.”
Mina’s heart felt a little lighter courtesy of the praise and she smiled but still promised herself to train so, she’d react even better in the future. And while Aizawa-sensei continued to provide feedback for the rest, she sought out Bakugou, making her way at the back of the crowd where he stood.
Taking off her backpack, she unzipped it and pulled out a small pocket of tissues before drawing one out. She reached for a water bottle next but remained where she was, gesturing towards his forehead. “Can I?”

Bakugo continued to fume, as he watched the other classmates continue to make it to the summit. Deku and Todoroki came over not too long after he had, but some of the others lagged quite a bit. The blonde wondered how it was possibly to be so slow and suck so much, but he wasn’t a loser like the rest of them. Except.. Apparently Mina.
The last one to pull himself over was Mineta, gasping for air in a pathetic manner. It seemed like their assignment was now over. Katsuki grit his teeth as Aizawa immediately began to praise the pink haired girl. It should have been him that placed number one, and had been getting that commendation. Although, he had to admit, if he’d knocked rocks onto the rest of the class, he wouldn’t have tried to help them, or have been worried at all for their well-being. In fact, he likely would have just laughed if the rocks hit any of them. The less competition, the better.
Next, Aizawa did actually praise the boy. He felt his head getting bigger, and he began to grin in an arrogant manner. “Heh it was nothing. Anyone who can’t work through pain doesn’t deserve to call themself a hero! Racoon eyes should have just let the rocks hit the others. It would have weeded out the weak ones!”
As the teacher began giving his feedback to the other students, Bakugo sat on a large rock away from the rest of the class, and simply looked over the edge of the cliff. They had come quite a good distance. He sat in silence, the wind hitting his hair softly.
Crimson hues fell upon Mina, as she approached him, with some tissues and a water bottle. “Tch, how dare you show mercy to the enemy! You gave me this wound fair and square, pinky, and you should own that shit!“ The fact that she was concerned about him, only flared up his temper. He didn’t need her pity.
“‘Sides it’s not even bleeding anymore. But whatever.. You actually give a shit about people and trash alike, and probably won’t let me say no anyway, so do what you want.” He hopped down from the rock, and proffered his forehead to her.

aliaspinky:
Sentences like that one made Mina wonder whether Bakugou had, in fact, self-esteem issues. His ego was huge as far as fighting went but outside of that? It was almost as though he didn’t believe himself worthy of good old socialising. Or of something that had nothing to do with his quirk and strength recognition in general. He didn’t understand why people would want to spend time with him.
And that was incredibly sad.
“Neither one counts as relaxing, Blasty.” she shook her head. “Don’t you have any hobbies?” Sleep was the bare minimum so one didn’t drop dead. And studying was not relaxing. Not even Yaomomo thought of studying as such. Learning, maybe. You learn because you want to. You study because school wants you to…or at least that was her take on it.
Mina’s face fell slightly. Objectively speaking, Bakugou was right. Midoriya was strong; the guy broke his bones weekly, for Kami’s sake and, as of late, also seemed to be handling his quirk better than before. However… “Fair enough but I still beat you at rock climbing, so…don’t be quick to underestimate me, okay?”

She drew back to avoid getting hit by his unfinished hand. To say he surprised her would be putting it mildly. Half of Mina had expected Bakugou to demand she wipe the nail polish away and then storm off. “Alright then, if you insist!” she grasped his hand, took out the brush and resumed working just as carefully as earlier.
The question only soured Bakugo’s mood further. He did have a couple of hobbies, but she’d already defeated him at one of them. “Rock climbing..” he mumbled, unnaturally softly, before continuing, louder. “Rock climbing is my hobby god dammit! It was just some fluke that I lost to a loser like you!”
There was one other thing he enjoyed almost as much as rock climbing, but he wasn’t sure if she would consider it a hobby, since the other stuff he’d listed had already been rejected as such. “I like to eat spicy food too! Bet you wouldn’t be able to keep up with me in that at least. Tch.”
He wouldn’t underestimate her again though. The pinkette was stronger than she appeared. As she set to work on his final hand, that impatient energy once more overcame the explosion king, but he tried his hardest to sit still. After a few more minutes, his patience was nearing it’s limit, however. “You done yet Racoon eyes!? Unlike you, I’m a busy main character!”

Taking off her backpack, she unzipped it and pulled out a small pocket of tissues before drawing one out. She reached for a water bottle next but remained where she was, gesturing towards his forehead. "Can I?"

aliaspinky·:
It was a few moments later as Bakugou cursed, that Mina realized she hadn’t dealt with all the crumbling rocks. One of them had managed to escape her acid and hit the blond. And though she knew she shouldn’t be feeling guilty — hell, if not for her quick thinking, he could have gotten hurt worse! — she still paused her climbing to check on him.
There was blood oozing from his forehead, making her wonder just how serious of a hit he had taken earlier. She opened her mouth to say something, maybe apologize but then she saw him push through it, soldiering on and decided against it. He’d likely believe she was pitying him instead of showing concern.
She really hoped there wasn’t anything serious.
Turning back to focus on the task, Mina resumed climbing once more, picking up the pace as she went and increasing it even more by using momentum to propel herself up and go faster.
In the end, it was a close race, with her coming out on top and Bakugou a close second. The pinkette had let herself fall back against the ground, chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath.

Bakugo glared up at the girl as she paused her climbing out of what seemed to be concern. He didn’t need her sympathy. Eventually, however, she began to climb again. A haughty grin slid over his features, as he climbed after her, gritting his teeth through the pain. He wouldn’t suffer her pity.
She was going too fast though.. At this rate, he wouldn’t be able to catch up with her. Urging his muscles forward, he put every last ounce of strength he had into ascending faster. The blonde began to gain distance on her. The pinkette was already almost to the top though.
Katsuki watched with an inner dismay, as she pulled herself over the top, and completed the climb. “That bitch..” He chanced a look down, and was startled to see Deku closing the distance, the rest of the class close behind. This was no time to get distracted.
Bakugo climbed with a renewed vigor, and soon pulled himself over the edge as well. He glared at Mina as soon as he stood up. Getting second place didn’t set well with him. “How the hell did you manage to beat me!? And you’re so winded after that baby of a climb. Pathetic!” The rest of the class soon finished the course, and then they all gathered around for their next assignments. The explosion king continued to fume, keeping a wide girth from the others.

"Alright then, if you insist!" she grasped his hand, took out the brush and resumed working just as carefully as earlier.
aliaspinky·:
Bakugou’s words made Mina pause and reconsider what she had done, what she was doing. Sure, she hadn’t struck him with the commanding quirk but she was taking advantage of it all the same. And as unproblematic as nail painting was, on a base level…she had still taken away his choice, hadn’t she?
And maybe his anger was closer to panic; being less about her and more about someone else with not so good intentions finding out what had happened and ordering him around. “I just wanted to spend time with you, I’m sorry Bakugou.” Mina’s motives were pure, she wasn’t trying to humiliate him or anything like that. She merely wished to bond and didn’t think he would have agreed to it otherwise.
“You fight every day. Do you even know how to relax?” she pointed out, hesitating. On one hand, she wanted to keep going and finish painting his nails since she had made the request in the first place. On the other…it felt wrong now, to continue. She had placed the brush back inside the nail polish, closed the small tube and was now staring at it pensively.
When he mentioned fighting Midoriya, Mina’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked up at him. “You really think I could beat him?”

Bakugo’s eyes widened a bit as he was taken aback by her unexpected apology. Why would anyone even want to spend time with him in the first place? All he ever did was explode at them about something or other almost constantly. “Tch, what kind of brain dead idiot actually wants to spend time with me?” Her intentions seemed pure, but it was still off putting to the boy.
“I relax when I sleep obviously! And I do study.” Though it wasn’t exactly relaxing. He often times would get impatient after a few hours. Why did it sound like she thought it was bad to fight all of the time? He rather enjoyed it. “Tch.. actually no, I don’t think a side character like you could take him. I hate to admit it, but he does have raw power. He’s still nowhere near as strong as me though!”
The explosion king eyed the bottle of polish expectantly. It looked like she might be changing her mind about this whole thing.“Oh hell no! You’re finishing this shit and getting it over with. I’m not backing down from this challenge now!“ He growled out, practically jabbing his unfinished hand in her face. “It’s not like anyone has the balls to say anything to me about it anyway.”

It was a few moments later as Bakugou cursed, that Mina realized she hadn't dealt with all the crumbling rocks. One of them had managed to escape her acid and hit the blond. And though she knew she shouldn't be feeling guilty — hell, if not for her quick thinking, he could have gotten hurt worse! — she still paused her climbing to check on him.
There was blood oozing from his forehead, making her wonder just how serious of a hit he had taken earlier. She opened her mouth to say something, maybe apologize but then she saw him push through it, soldiering on and decided against it. He'd likely believe she was pitying him instead of showing concern.
She really hoped there wasn't anything serious.
Turning back to focus on the task, Mina resumed climbing once more, picking up the pace as she went and increasing it even more by using momentum to propel herself up and go faster.
In the end, it was a close race, with her coming out on top and Bakugou a close second. The pinkette had let herself fall back against the ground, chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath.

aliaspinky·:
The pinkette couldn’t help but notice the obstacle he had run into. Hmph, serves him right for underestimating her. That should teach him!! she resumed her climbing next, making quick work of the advantage she had been given in order to bypass Bakugou. “See ya later, Blasty!” she called out cheerfully once she had managed to do so, rubbing salt over the wound as the old saying goes.
She went at it for awhile without facing any drawbacks before an all too familiar sound, the one of rocks cracking, made her shift focus. Mina bit down on her bottom lip worringly. It wouldn’t hinder her, but…
If that falls, it might hurt the others!!
Decision made, she stretched out a hand and by increasing viscosity, she generated an extremely slimy non-corrosive acid; it acting like a super glue and sticking the rocks to the mountain.
Bakugo let out a string of fancy curses, and he picked up his pace. Mina had now overtaken him. There was no way he could lose. This was his hobby of all things. How was she so damn fast?! He grit his teeth as he struggled to pick up the distance between them. “You’re not going anywhere!” He growled out in response, her jeering only adding fuel to the fire.
He was directly below her now, but she was climbing so quickly, that he was having trouble gaining any ground on her. Just then, some rocks fell from under her. She paused to disintegrate them with acid, and that was all he needed. Adrenaline pumping through his veins, he climbed as fast as he dare go.
He was so focused on climbing, that he failed to notice the rock headed right for him. It seemed Mina hadn’t been able to get this one in time. The blonde looked up, just as the rock connected with his forehead. “Shit! Watch where you’re going you fuckhead!” A small trickle of blood seeped down his forehead. He suddenly felt a bit dazed, and he had to pause.
The boy worked through the pain a bit, before continuing, but he was obviously much more slow now. He pushed through the pain to catch up with her, but surely she had a sizable lead by now.

Bakugou's words made Mina pause and reconsider what she had done, what she was doing. Sure, she hadn't struck him with the commanding quirk but she was taking advantage of it all the same. And as unproblematic as nail painting was, on a base level...she had still taken away his choice, hadn't she?
And maybe his anger was closer to panic; being less about her and more about someone else with not so good intentions finding out what had happened and ordering him around. "I just wanted to spend time with you, I'm sorry Bakugou." Mina's motives were pure, she wasn't trying to humiliate him or anything like that. She merely wished to bond and didn't think he would have agreed to it otherwise.
"You fight every day. Do you even know how to relax?" she pointed out, hesitating. On one hand, she wanted to keep going and finish painting his nails since she had made the request in the first place. On the other...it felt wrong now, to continue. She had placed the brush back inside the nail polish, closed the small tube and was now staring at it pensively.
When he mentioned fighting Midoriya, Mina's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked up at him. "You really think I could beat him?"

aliaspinky·:
She couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the threat. Bakugou had yet to kill any of them thus far, despite how much he went around saying it. By now, Mina was throughly convinced he merely liked throwing that particular figure of speech around. Ears picked up on the sound of teeth grinding but she didn’t falter nor did her grip over his hands tighten.
The pinkette kept working gently and slowly. And not necessarily out of spite. Save for when he was sleeping, Bakugou didn’t seem to take any breaks. Didn’t seem to ever stop moving, period. That couldn’t be healthy. She was energetic herself but even she took some time off to stop and just breathe. “Not my fault you got hit by a commanding Quirk.”
A pause.
“And there are worse things than getting your nails done, you know.” she gave him a pointed look before starting to paint his other hand. Curiosity prompted Mina to ask, however. “Want me to owe you how, Blasty?”
—————————————————————————————————
Having to sit so still was driving the explosion king mad. He released a frustrated growl from his maw. He had to move soon, or he would go crazy. How did he end up being so foolish as to get hit by this quirk, anyway? “Tch, maybe not, but it’s your fault for taking advantage of it, you side character!” At least she was finally on his next hand. Hopefully it would be done soon.
Bakugo lifted the hand she was done with, and raked over it with his gaze. Luckily, it wasn’t messed up, and she’d done a good job, though he was still seething about the task that she’d stipulated upon him . “I can’t think of much worse than forcing someone like me to have his nails panted like some girl! I would rather fight someone! Force me to fight a strong opponent god dammit!” Even physical pain wouldn’t be as bad as this strange form of torture.

“Like… letting me kill you!?” He hadn’t really thought of a way she could pay him back really, but now the gears in his head turned. “S’pose you could always beat Deku’s ass. That could be amusing to watch.” He grinned in a malicious manner at the thought.
