CONCLUSION
Overall, I enjoyed creating this display and blog. I’m happy with the outcome of my display and love the different colours and products I displayed. I’m happy with the lighting features I chose as they make the display stand out and clearly visible for all hours of the day. I printed the products and espresso martini but in the real displays these will be life sized products but an oversized espresso martini. I am pleased with the disco balls but ideally I would have preferred these to be gold to match the rest of the display. I wouldn’t change any other aspects of my display. I trialed out having some products dangling from the ceiling of the display but decided against these as it felt too cluttered and wasn’t as effective as i thought they would be.

THE DISPLAY
The display is for a trend for S/S 25. After carefully looking into forecasted trends and events happening I decided on my theme. I chose World Cocktail Day as my theme as this stood out to me as i immediately thought of different ideas and colours i could incorporate into my display. For the full display my vision is for there to be multiple different displays that each focus on one cocktail. I chose an espresso martini as I wanted to use a neutral colour palette and a party vibe. I used disco balls and gold to showcase this. I also wanted to use different products within the display that are sold by Selfridges either online or in store.

THE REASONINGS BEHIND MY DISPLAY
This display was carefully planned out after researching into different events and trends. I wanted to create something unique that I haven’t seen yet. My chosen store is Selfridges so I took inspiration from their shop windows and displays. I firstly decided to keep my window and frame black as theirs are and black is one of their brands colours. I then chose a gold and black interior for a pop of colour and I think gold pairs well with the colours of my cocktail. I decided on an espresso martini as I wanted to use a more neutral colour palette after looking at forecasted colour trends for S/S 25. Selfridges light up their displays all hours of the day so I decided to do this as well using bright white LED lights.

THE FINAL DISPLAY

PROCESS
After adding in the components, I added in the final touches- including some more disco balls to fill it out. I carefully chose some images of different products as well as a variety of different sized disco balls throughout.
I then glued down my window frame and my display was complete.

PROCESS
To finish of the interior of the display O added in some final components. I started by finding a variety of different products that are sold in Selfridges that match my colour scheme.
I printed these out and backed them with card. I wanted some more height in my display so I made 3 cylinder stands out of black and gold cardboard to present my products on.
I glued down each of these products which included- dressed, handbags and perfumes to keep a summery theme. I made sure to also add in some beach bags to keep up with the S/S theme.
I trialed out some dresses to hang from the ceiling, however I decided against these as they didn’t look as effective as I imagined and didn’t fit the display as well.

After creating my frame I continued to create the features for the interior of my box. I started by making adding in a small stand for my cocktail to stand on and painted this black. I then hot glued on my disco balls.
I then found an image of an espresso martini that I liked and printed this onto card, in which i then back with card and glued down onto the stand.
I love how the light reflected off the disco balls.

Once the base of the interior of the box was complete I painted the exterior black.
I then built my window frame, I used wood to create this frame. I firstly made a design and measured up my box to get a good idea of what i wanted to create.
This is the design I made on Illustrator-

Once I had my design, I built the frame. I wanted a basic rectangle which I then put a sheet of acetate across for a window effect. I also added a flat piece of wood along the top which I put the Selfridges logo on.
After looking at Selfridges window displays I noticed majority had black window frames so I decided to paint my frame black.
The frame-

To make my display, I started with a wooden box that I already had.
I painted the interior gold and black with acrylic paint and then hot glued in some small lights along the top.
These lights will be on at all times so everything will be clearly visible.
This was the outcome-

MY COLOUR PALETTE
As the cocktail is brown and cream I knew i wanted to incorporate these colours. I wanted to use a colour that compliments these for my walls so I chose gold.
Selfridges logos and signature colours are black and yellow so i decided on a black floor as well as a black window frame and the logo in white.

MY DESIGN
I want to create a display that was eye catching and visually pleasing. I have designed a mockup of my window on Illustrator.
I want the interior to be gold with black flooring as I feel as if this matches my cocktail and is quite vibrant.
I want to add bright white spotlights so shoppers can see the products clearly at nighttime as well as all day long.
The cocktail will be the centre of attention with it being featured in the centre on a large stand. This cocktail will be oversized for a better effect.
I am going to print out and back my cocktail with card and make a small black box for it to stand on.
I also want my display to feature two different brown bags, which will be displayed on either a gold or black stand. The display will also have small and large disco balls for a summery and party effect, these will draw the attention of passer bys- especially at night with the lights reflecting off of them.
I will also add print outs of different beauty products and perfume all that fit my colour scheme.
I also want to add on a window with a sign that states Selfridges a long the top of this.
I contemplated printing words or phrases onto my window but after looking at Selfridges displays I decided against this as they don’t tend to do this.

PREVIOUS LIBERTY SHOP WINDOWS
For more inspiration I looked into Liberty shop windows and found this website which featured a variety of images of their beauty window displays.
These contrast to the Selfridges displays as their products are life sized and displays in a more unique way with less elements within the window.
However, I like how there’s an ongoing theme throughout each window which is what my overall idea is.

PREVIOUS SELFRIDGES WINDOW DISPLAYS
As i want to incorporate some bags as well as beauty products into my display I wanted to find some previous displays that featured these.
I came across a display from 2012 which caught my eye as it was focused on beauty products and had oversized products featured.
I want to have a large oversized cocktail in my display as well as other elements so this inspired me massively.

CHOSEN COCKTAIL
For my window display, I want to create a display based on an Espresso Martini. This display will feature the cocktail as well as other products around it that are similar colours to create a full display.
If this display was to be made in Selfridges, my idea is to have multiple different window displays all along the shop showing different cocktails, colours and products in each.
However I am just making one display therefore will only showcase one cocktail from this collection.
I want to look at more past displays to gather some inspiration from not only Selfridges but other stores as well for a larger variety.

ESPRESSO MARTINI
This cocktail also originated in London. It includes a shot of espresso, coffee liqueur and vodka so will definitely give you a boost.
It has a dark brown colour.

PORN STAR MARTINI
This cocktail has become a UK favourite since 2002, with the creator choosing the unique name as he believed it was something a ‘porn star’ would drink.
It’s a vibrant orange drink with a shot of prosecco on the side.

COSMOPOLITAN
The cosmopolitan became a huge hit after the tv show ‘Sex and the city’ aired this. The NYC staple is a fruity cocktail in a hot pink colour with a hint of limes.
I would like to use this cocktail as it’s a vibrant colour and vibe.
