𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒.
literally letter threads are elite. that’s. that’s all the context we have here. also bc the language is obviously being changed slightly here. so, for clarification: the person receiving the meme, is the writer of the letter! the person SENDING the meme, is RECEIVING the letter! now. go write letters, u magnificent cupcakes, and DO NOT ADD TO THIS LIST!!! i will know, and i will hunt u down and curse ur potatoes to be soapy and bland and messy for all eternity.
[ LOVE ]:     the writer begins the first of a series of love letters to the recipient.
[ SORRY ]:     the writer delivers a letter of apology to the recipient.
[ LAST ]:     a letter sent in the aftermath of the writer’s death.
[ TWIST ]:     a letter sent in the aftermath of the writer’s alleged death, only to reveal that they are, in fact, still alive.
[ FINAL ]:     a letter written in the aftermath of the recipient’s death, where the writer knows they’ll never get the chance to read it.
[ INITIATE ]:     a letter written to the recipient in order to maintain communication between the two while the writer is far away from them.
[ FAREWELL ]:     a letter written to say goodbye to the recipient, where the writer knows there’s an extremely high chance that they’ll never see each other again.
[ REVELATION ]:     a letter written that reveals the truth about an event(s) that the writer believes the recipient may be misinformed about.
[ EXPLAIN ]:     a letter that explains the reasoning behind choices that the writer has made in the past, which they would like to explain to the recipient.
[ BAD ]:     a letter that delivers bad news to the recipient.
[ UPDATE ]:     a letter that updates the recipient on the writer’s life, or certain on-going events that are happening in their life.
[ AFAR ]:     a letter delivered by the writer from another country/city/planet/etc in order to reassure the recipient and let them know they’re okay. (not intended to be a back-and-forth, like [ INITIATE ] does).
[ HIDDEN ]:     a letter written and delivered to the recipient in secret, for the recipient’s eyes only, as a result of information it contains, or because of the person who wrote it.
[ UNSENT ]:     a letter written for the recipient, but which the writer ultimately never sends for reasons that the writer conceals, or may reveal within the letter itself.
[ MISTAKE ]:     a letter which is sent to the recipient by mistake, and which may contain sensitive information about the recipient.
[ UNVEIL ]:     a letter which reveals the truth about a plan that the writer previously and deliberately concealed from the recipient for their safety/well-being.
[ NEEDED ]:     a letter that the writer wrote for the recipient after learning of their recent struggles in their personal life, and which contains uplifting words of encouragement, support and other things they feel they should hear to help them through.
[ PILLOW ]:     a letter left neatly atop a pillow on the bed that the writer and recipient share, that is discovered by the recipient the following morning after the writer leaves the room/home.
[ FRIDGE ]:     a letter attached to the fridge with magnets for the recipient to read in the kitchen.
[ KNOWN ]:     a letter which the writer left in a place that only the writer and recipient know of, knowing that only the recipient would be able to find it first.
[ HELP ]:     a letter written by the writer to the recipient, asking the recipient for help.
[ STOP ]:     a letter written for the recipient which the writer intends to be their final letter to them, and which ultimately concludes all communications between the writer and recipient from that moment forth.
[ PAST ]:     a letter which the writer wrote in the past, that reveals a piece of their backstory, that the reader finds and reads out of curiosity. (this could also be a letter written TO the receiver of the meme, or about them, or anything at all!)

town of erised:
When budding inventors Niall and Anne Fawley began to map out their futures after eloping one warm, autumn night, a child was never once part of the equation. No, their desires lied simply in their deep care for each other and their crafts. And yet, when little Alice came tumbling into their lives after a shockingly unexpected pregnancy, they were struck dumb by the completely overwhelming feelings of love and devotion that filled them at the first sight of their infant daughter. In that moment, they couldn’t imagine anything better than being parents. They couldn’t picture anything better than the new, precious life in their arms. Alice, in their eyes, was the best gift they’d ever made.
Of course, this meant that the little girl never grew up with a lack of love. Some of her fondest memories were of nights spent bundled up with her parents on their tiny living room floor; her father making silly voices for one of the toys he painstakingly made for her, while her mother narrated an improvised, fantastical story of witches and wizards.
And despite being an only child, it never quite felt that way for Alice with how often her home was filled with other children; always starry-eyed and eager to try out her parents’ latest inventions. It made her so proud, what her parents did. How happy they made others, despite the flack they got from the Socs in town. It was never about the money for them, and it was something that stuck strong in Alice’s mind as she grew. The lines in the sand ––– Soc and Greaser ––– were always there, like a brand. But Alice never felt shame in being labeled as a Greaser. Honestly, of what she’d seen of most of the Socs, she was glad to not be so uptight, snobbish, and, in some cases, cruel like they were.
Even though it had been rather hard at times, with her family’s lack of resources and the endless teases and taunts of Soc children and adults, Alice kept her head held high as she went through school and beyond; mussed hair, scuffed knees, and all.
Status, she knew, wasn’t everything.
It was, in fact, what led her to starting up her own little toy shop as an adult after a period of frenzied job hopping. To the shock of many, however, Alice wasn’t the artist behind the numerous toys she sold. She, unfortunately, hadn’t been gifted the same creative mind or skilled hands like that of her mother and father. It was her love for what her parents created and the joy it brought to others that was her inspiration.
And it was with her compassionate personality, beaming smile, and her parents toys, that her hard work paid off. Her business boomed almost overnight, and continues to do so. And even though so many Socs spat down at her as a child ( and still do, especially after she started dating one of their own ) she allows everyone into her store, regardless of who they are. It’s a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but even the smallest ripples can make big wave, right. . .?
real life:
On paper, Alice should have had a great start to life. Born into a pureblood family that was rather high on the social hierarchy in the wizarding world, she was raised without a single want. Niall and Anne Fawley made certain that their daughter had everything and anything needed to be a proud beacon in their high and respected circles.
But, as fate’s funny hand would have it, Alice was the complete opposite of everything her mother and father stood for and wanted. Even when she was just a little girl, all she wanted desperately to do was just run outside and play in the grass and dirt and have fun. This, of course, appalled her parents, who sought out to derail their wayward child as much as they could and force her into the mold they desired. In retaliation, Alice rebelled as she grew. It started off small, but as she got older it got more and more apparent that she resented the perfect daughter that her parents so desperately tried to make her be ––– their little doll. It only got worse when she was sorted into Gryffindor House once she started at Hogwarts. It was against years and years of tradition, after all. Both of her parents ( and generations before them ) being in Ravenclaw.
Alice, on the other hand, was elated. It proved she was right; she wasn’t like them in the least. And as she began her lessons at school, the less and less she went home for the holidays. The last thing she wanted to do was participate in the hoity balls and gatherings she knew she’d be subjected to.
Not that she could avoid all of them.
Ironically enough, it was at a Christmas ball when she was fifteen where she met Frank Longbottom. Officially, anyway. She knew him from school and similar friend circles, but had never really hung out with him before that night. But he was a good time. No, a great time, and after that fateful night, she found herself spending more and more time with him both in school and out, until, all at once, she found herself falling deep in love with the boy. And as they shared their first kiss in an abandoned alley on a Honeydukes outing ––– awkward and tasting like lemon Bertie Botts ––– she knew Frank was the man she was going to marry. And, just a few years later, she was proven right.
But that happiness was fleeting, she’d quickly come to find. There was a war on their doorstep, and she knew, with certainty, what side she was on. Despite the danger both being an auror and Order member brought, she and Frank stood tall and resolute. Even if they died, they knew it would be for a good cause ––– the right one.
That is, until she fell pregnant, and that damn prophecy came to be like a haunting echo in her head. Everything shifted, then. Everything. There was nothing Alice wouldn’t do for her baby ––– her precious boy, Neville. Even if that meant going into hiding, and trusting Dumbledore, who, deep down . . . she was beginning to doubt.
In the end, she should have listened to her instincts more. Because, maybe, if she did, her last memories wouldn’t have been of panic and fear before falling, blank, into the world of Erised.
Her life, as she knew it, forever changed.
