Naturally, she couldn’t help but be terrified. They all were -- with the exception of most of the Slytherins, and those who served the Dark Lord. Ugh, the ‘Dark Lord’, it sounded as idiotic as it truly was. She hated that Voldemort was referred to that way, as if he had some huge power over everyone because he could get some teenagers on his side. She was tired of the worry, of the fear. Why Voldemort would spend so much time terrorizing Hogwarts was beyond her. Young witches and wizards attended the school simply to become better. She thought, if he was really smart, he’d be looking for witches and wizards with more experience. At least, that’s what she figured a wizard looking to cause havoc and evil would do. Maybe she put too much thought into it. She couldn’t help it, though, she just wanted this to be over already. Alice was exhausted from all of this, especially expressing her worries over the past few days. She found herself leaning against a wall in the hallways, tears dripping down onto her cheeks. She heard a fairly familiar voice, which caused her to look up and see the boy’s face. She knew of Regulus Black, but never got the chance to speak to him... until now. She sighed, running one of her hands through her hair. “I’m... I don’t know.” Alice shrugged, shaking her head. She didn’t feel fine at all, but she didn’t want to say so. “I don’t need anything, no.” He was already being too kind to her, and she was grateful for it. It truly reflected on one’s heart. “Are you okay?”

Mosmoredre || Alice & Regulus
@aliceintheblood
When the mark went up, a small pit formed in Regulus’stomach. He had thought that he was free, that maybe he wouldn’t have to worryabout when he returned to school, and Bellatrix took the mark from him.However, that seemed too much to ask for, as it didn’t seem as if Voldermortwould be satisfied with staying away from Hogwarts and settling with whatlittle terror he caused outside of the school. For some reason, Hogwarts wasalways his target. It was his one desire, one which Regulus suppose heunderstood slightly since it trained the next generation of wizards, but itseemed more like an obsession rather than a tactical strategy.
Still, there was not much Regulus could do but worry as hefollowed the rest of the students out to return to their dorms. As he wasushered towards the dungeons, he slipped away from the others, knowing that hedidn’t wish to be there. They would celebrate, ask him to join in, and now thathe was free of the mark, he couldn’t. He just couldn’t pretend to be happy thatsomeone had raised that filthy reminder in the air, so he did what he could toget away from them.
Regulus would have kept walking if he didn’t see the girlcrying in the hallway. She seemed familiar, and after a moment, he recognized heras Alice, Gryffindor’s Beater, the one that played opposite of Lily. He bit hislip, knowing he should mind his own business since the two hadn’t spoken untilnow. Yet, he found himself approaching, unable to keep himself from asking inconcern, “Are you all right? Do you need anything?” It was a bit stupid sincehe knew that she wasn’t fine. He was barely fine himself, almost on the edge oftears if he wasn’t too terrified to do anything else. Instead, he hoped thatmaybe by comforting her, he could comfort himself, as well.

MOSMORDRE.
It brings a storm to the Great Hall, surrounding a dark mark. The first day of school for the students of Hogwarts, and someone is already pulling something like this. Lily sits beside Alice on one side, Frank on the other -- the petite girl stuck in the middle of Lily and Frank stands to her feet, anxiety filling her body as she feels her heart rate begin to excel. Our Headmaster is supposed to be here. Something about this ‘prank’ doesn’t feel right, hence Alice’s stammered thoughts, her slow breathing. The fear obvious in her widened blue eyes as she stares up at the storm in horror. She was known to be a fighter, but some part of her hoped that this would all be over with before the school year started, despite that being an unrealistic dream. She was usually much more realistic with these types of things, perhaps Gilderoy instilled that hope in her.  Gilderoy Lockhart, she thinks, why would you try to reverse my fears...? In truth, her fears were beginning to transform into reality. This, all of this --  Professor McGonagall would tell Alice not to worry, that it was all under control. Obviously, she did have some kind of control over it, using the counter curse almost immediately after. How long would Professor McGonagall, or any of the other professors, have control over this issue, though? Would people begin to lose their lives? On a daily basis, at the school, Alice felt sick to her stomach. Something was more wrong here, something deeper than a silly prank. The Dark Lord was converting students to join his side. Become Death Eaters. Could Alice try to stop them, all on her own? Speak with suspected students? The potential to lose lives over this... Whatever this was. She couldn’t describe it, she had yet to find a word for it. Lily seemed to be the only one, besides Alice, that could see how serious the situation really was.  The petite brunette, a known fighter, who will stand up to anyone, covers her mouth and runs out of the Great Hall in tears --

FLASH FORWARD FIVE YEARS. THE WAR IS OVER, BUT IT’S THE WORST CASE SCENARIO FOR ALICE FORTESCUE.
1981. BUT YOU WILL REMEMBER ME.
News of the deaths of James Potter and Lily Evans spread around the wizarding world quickly --  Alice and Lily had bonded throughout their years at Hogwarts, and happened to be pregnant with their sons at the same time. They would get together at their separate homes, suggest baby names to one another, wonder if their sons would grow up and become friends like they were. They were gleeful with that idea in their heads, thinking of how they would grow old and their sons would visit them, and have children of their own someday. The women were only twenty and twenty-one at the time, but it was fun to imagine. The Dark Lord would soon be defeated and everything would be peaceful. They would watch their sons grow up to be happy and strong, like they were. It wasn’t ideal for either of them to have babies around the time that they did, but their sons would bring light to the darker times.  Frank had gone missing the afternoon following the murder of James and Lily -- and Alice hadn’t seen him since they received the news. Frank’s sweet Mother, Augusta, had been staying with them and teaching them to be parents at such a young age. (They had promised her if they had a daughter, she too would be named ‘Augusta’.) Alice’s parents were no longer in the picture, making Augusta the closest thing she had to a parent. (No, Augusta had not always been how Neville would describe her in the future -- she was a sweet woman until her son and daughter-in-law were tortured into insanity.) “No one knows where Frank is, Mum, not Albus -- not Alastor, or Kingsley. Remus is too torn up over Lily and James, god only knows where Sirius is. Edgar and his family were killed by the Dark Lord.” She paced back and forth, whilst her Mother-in-law cradled her son. Tears welled in Alice’s eyes from her frustration, walking over to Neville and placing a gentle kiss on his head.  “Him and his Death Eaters are targeting all of us. It’s been two days. He could be dead.” Augusta told her she was being silly, that Frank would be home soon. Though two days had passed, it was dark and brooding outside. Frank would have told her his whereabouts by now, he would’ve said something. He wouldn’t be so idiotic as to try to avenge James and Lily, or try to find Harry. She was reminded by Augusta that she should stay there with her son, rather than go searching for him. Who else would, if not Alice? Giving a hug to Augusta and a kiss to Neville, she left -- promising that she would return soon with Frank. Going out into the night was not her brightest idea, but she was determined to find the man she loved. A dark alley was where the four captured her. They covered her eyes, and took her somewhere unknown. It was dark, except for the light that shone on Frank -- who was as white as a ghost, with bloodshot eyes. That was the first thing she saw when they uncovered her eyes and allowed her her vision, to which her brown orbs widened. He wasn’t the Frank that she knew to be hers. The mixture of her anger and sadness was heightened -- and there was not one emotion that was stronger than the other. “No!” She shouted, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her heart pounded against her chest as anger quickly set in, and she screamed for what felt like hours; until someone shouting the Cruciatus curse made her fall to her knees, and blood began to run from her nose. (Which happened every so often to her, due to stress.) Alice glared up at the four, who had done this to Frank. “You’re all cowards.” She spat, a strong shiver going down her spine from the excruciating pain she’d just experienced for the first time. Bellatrix ran the group more than anyone, asking the same questions over and over again. The most common one -- asking where the Dark Lord was. Naturally, the Fortescue woman had no idea. She hadn’t an answer to any of the questions she was asked, and for each answer she didn’t have, the Cruciatus curse was cast upon Alice. She would double over in pain while tears ran down her cheeks like water running from an active faucet. She’d still find the strength to look up and glare -- until it had all been too much. She was left in the same state as Frank.
Come 1982, where is Alice? IF OUR LOVE IS TRAGEDY ...
By 1982, she is left in St. Mungo’s alongside Frank, unable to recognize anyone -- not even her closest friends, and not even her son, Neville. Her hair is white, and she is only twenty-one. Neville is raised by Frank’s Mother, Augusta Longbottom.

“Don’t be so dramatic, Lily.” She teased, giggling with her own words. She understood the feeling, though -- being around teenage boys was stressful enough, then they had the problems with their world -- with their headmaster. The subject was much too depressing, which was why Alice was avoiding it with Lily for now. Both Alice and Lily had a strong admiration for their headmaster, how they aspired to be like him when they were older. “I’ve missed you too!” The summers were long and slightly painful when they couldn’t see their friends from school, only send letters and wish they were around one another. Sending a few letters over so many months was hardly enough. Lily often spent time with the boys, so did Alice on occasion, and the two girls would talk about what bugged them when it came to those specific boys. Frank must have been the only guy in the entire school that didn’t drive Alice absolutely crazy. “It was alright as it could be, without seeing you, Frank, or Marlene.” She shrugged her shoulders. Alice was still as frighteningly pale as before, her hair had grown a bit longer. Not much had changed with her. “Were you forced to spend the summer with your sister again?” She asked, raising her eyebrows. She knew Lily’s sister was constantly jealous, and rarely kind to her -- if ever. She couldn’t really understand, as she didn’t have any siblings. Just herself. Being an only child had its ups and downs, but at least she didn’t have a sibling like Lily’s sister. But, Alice didn’t want to remind Lily of anything negative, nor did she mean to. “I think you should stay with me next summer. For the entire time we have off.”
“Doing? I’m surviving as well as anyone. And God, have I missed you, Alice. I need a little bit more sanity than the boys allow. It’s either been extremely depressing or overly comforting or over the top humor. You arrived just in time to save me from piercing my own eyes with quills!”
Lily had missed Alice’s flowing hair swooshing around her vision. In the worry of all the news, she found it very easy to feel alone. Fear was constantly nipping at Lily’s heels, dizzying her between safety and danger. Sanctuary and Dungeon. Life and Death. Panic seemed to be a secondary state, or at least the only feeling staying when she was alone.
She was grateful for the wonderful distraction. “How was your summer?”

If anyone could get Lily out of a funk, it was Alice -- or so she thought. Everyone at Hogwarts was currently under a great amount of stress, due to what had happened to their headmaster recently. She adored Lily, though, and hoped to catch up with her without mentioning their worries for Dumbledore. They could talk about it, of course, but they didn’t have to talk about it right away. The brunette was trying to push these worries to the back of her head. Not think about them -- that would only make her feel worse; and she felt pretty awful already. All she wanted was for Albus Dumbledore to return to full health and come back to Hogwarts as soon as he could. Surely, Alice had things to discuss with him. How students could help with the whole Death Eater situation, how they could make their future look a little brighter. Within crowds in the hallways, she found Lily. Linking her arm with the taller girl’s, she gently pulled her off to the side. Alice pulls her arm from Lily’s, and turns to face her. “Lily, it feels as though I haven’t seen you in forever.” She said, looking at her with curious eyes. She missed her over the time that they had off from school. “How are you doing, sweetheart?”

She already thought she was being practical with her worries. Yes, Dumbledore was a powerful wizard -- but things were only growing more serious and dangerous in their world. It felt like they couldn’t do anything to help, even if they tried, and that would drive her crazy. She couldn’t have been the only one that felt this way, so desperate and needing to help. They couldn’t rely on their Headmaster’s reputation of being a strong wizard to get him out of this funk. This was so different from anything else they had experienced. Death Eaters being gathered, all for a purpose. Many of their acquaintances were bound to join the Death Eaters -- but she knew Gilderoy wouldn’t. He was too smart for that.  She looked up at him with a frown on her face, giving his hand a squeeze right back. “This is different, Gilderoy.” She couldn’t help but express her worries to him, and he must have been willing to listen, because he hadn’t left yet. “What if he doesn’t come back from this?” There were tears in her eyes now, perhaps she was too caring of everything and everyone.
fake me out
Gilderoy squeezed her hand, grateful for the contact. But even Alice couldn’t change the reality of the situation. They were children, they weren’t even legal. Nothing they could do would bring Dumbledore out a coma. If Mungo’s top Healers couldn’t manage it, there’s no way a gaggle of schoolchildren could. Worry would only make them age faster. Hogwarts was the safest place on earth. Worry wouldn’t do them any good, and it wouldn’t do Dumbledore any good either.
“He’s not dead.” He said, practical. “They’ve not killed him. He’ll wake up before the year’s out and we’ll all feel silly for having worried about it in the first place. He’s the most powerful wizard in the world after all.”

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
Alice has a generally neutral opinion of herself. She knows she’s a good person, with a big heart of gold. As far as her looks, she is aware that looks do not mean everything. Your personality is the most important.Her face is practically heart-shaped, with very prominent cheekbones. She stands at nearly 5′6″. Her hair is thick, medium brown, with a red undertone. Her eyes are a compelling bright blue, matching her hair to near perfection. (She expresses most of her emotions through her eyes.) She’s had a naturally slim frame her entire life. At the age of sixteen, she has yet to have a romantic partner, or her first kiss.

If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
Alice is definitely a fighter; as she wants to become an Auror. Investigate crimes, and help fight them. She would do anything to take down the Death Eaters. Running has never even been a thought for her. Anyone who runs from a challenge is a coward in her eyes.

Sighing, she placed her hand on her forehead. Sometimes he bugged her, but he couldn’t help it. It wasn’t his fault. He didn’t see the simple reality in some situations of dire importance. No one wanted to be back at the castle under these circumstances. Certainly not her, of all people. She wanted to help their Headmaster, somehow; but she had drawn a blank. Surely, no one would be allowed to visit him while he was in a coma, as a death eater could easily slip in and try to kill the man. It was obvious to all that she admired Albus Dumbledore as much as Lily Evans did, and Dumbledore never favored one student more than the other. He was a kindhearted man who fought for the good. That was what Alice was trying to do, too. Her hand soon fell to her side again. “Forgive me, Gilderoy. I’m not thrilled of the circumstances that have brought us back to Hogwarts.” She frowned, looking up at him. “Of course you’re allowed to feel happy.” A pause, and the girl shrugs her shoulders. She’d been looking for Frank for ages since they returned, to no avail. She felt awful for how she’d just treated Gilderoy, she shouldn’t have taken her anger out on him. With a frown still on her face, she takes his hand. “You are smart. I just figured -- you weren’t as worried about the Headmaster as I am. We ought to be worried.”
fake me out
Gilderoy drew back, hurt. That hardly seemed called for, especially from Alice. Kind, sweet Alice who he had always quietly and privately admired for managing to be gentle and hard all at the same time. Gilderoy only really knew how to be one thing at a time, and apparently today that thing was a nuisance.
“Well that wasn’t very nice.” He said lightly. “Is there something wrong with missing the castle? I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to feel happy to be here.”

She didn’t see Gilderoy to be an idiot, per se -- maybe just not the brightest crayon in the box. Her anger towards what had happened to their Headmaster was not worth taking out on Gilderoy Lockhart, of all people. She wasn’t a rude young woman. In fact, she had one of the kindest hearts out there. But, things like this got to her. She was working hard to become an Auror. To fight off the evil in the world. Lockhart didn’t see it to be as serious as it really was. Dumbledore was in a coma, after having to save the Minister of Magic. Comas weren’t easy to bounce back from. If he woke up. Unlike others, she was never afraid to tell Gilderoy the blatant truth. “You’ve never been very smart, have you, Gilderoy?” She asked, tilting her head.
fake me out
Gilderoy wasn’t worried, because Gilderoy Lockhart didn’t get worried. Worried was for less attractive people, people definitively not him. Maybe the world had gotten a little rougher over the summer, and maybe he ought to consider convincing his family to take a permanent vacation to France, but no one had to know that. Things did not get to him. He got to things. Whatever that meant.
So he put on a smile, and took off his shirt despite the fact it wasn’t warm outside, and reminded himself that he had a fanclub and friends and that the whole nonsense at the Ministry would work itself out. It always did. Dumbledore would wake up and things would sort themselves out.
“Oh, I have missed this place. Haven’t you? Haven’t you missed this?”
