Alchemy of Souls... IDK what to call this

So I have been lurking Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter... and there is a lot of discourse about Cho Yeong/ Naksu/ Jin Bu Yeon/ Mudeok... Over the fact that she never got to be an assassin again, never wielded her sword, lack of fighting scenes and what people are either calling a character assasination or decent development of it... the latter not very well phrased by me. And I also see a lot of posts piting S1 Mudeok with S2 Jin Bu Yeon... which makes me question aren't they the same character cause the only thing I see is that they are played by different actresses.

For me, her journey is not one of becoming an assassin again, she didn't choose to be one in the 1st place it was imposed, shacled and manipulated into being one by Jin Mu, 2nd when she ended up in the body of Mudeok/Jin Bu Yeon she makes comments on how weak the body is, cause while the body "hosts" the soul of a woman with the strongest divine powers, it is a body from a person that, from what I gather poor, so less access to nutritious food, so she might also be malnourished and maybe even anemic, 3rd after her memory comes back she also has the memory of stabbing the only person that ever loved her and vice-versa in the heart (they say heart... but the placement for me is more pancreas maybe... but the heart it is) so less of a reason to wield it again - I will not deny that she is attracted to her sword, I mean it was her sword for more than 10 years - she might also still be aprensive about wielding it, 4th when the process of "unpetrification" started Master Lee stated that, the strongest soul in the body is Naksu so maybe that whole process depleted her energy as a mage and to regain it she would have to train all over again but taking into account that the body where she resides is weak, she would take 20 years or maybe even more than that to reach the level that she was before she decided that it was not worth the hassle and 5th when Jin Seol Ran decided to give the body to Cho Yeong she also gave her divine powers - not sure if all of her divine powers, half or even a quarter, I like to believe that she gave her all of them - sometimes I'm also positive - so that she can still be the heir or produce a powerfull heir to Jinyowon, so she would feel even less inclined to be an assassin again. In this I have a gripe with cause I wanted her to used them more times cause throughtout the show we undestand how the mages use their powers but the divine powers stayed shrouded in mystery and never fully explained so I wanted to see more.

About the fact that in S2 Cho Yeong is innocent and all sunshine and roses... I mean why do people hate women acting cute and innocent there are people like that no matter the age, personality and profession, they (we... I am a woman to) aren't less powerful or comanding, a woman doesn't need to tear down other women to feel good about themselves, We all have different views on what a powerful person acts or is, but female power sometimes is not being in the frontline, acting like a "man" so that she can be respected. these ideas are ingrained into us since we are children. I like that her personality without the memories of her time as Mudeok, could be what she is without the trauma, anger and grief, she is just a facet of Cho Yeong but no less powerful and she knows that, while doesn't fight in the front lines, she controls the backgroung and backstage, from doing interviews to choose mages to train, to choose the new queen. Sometimes controlling the backstage is more important than being in the front lines.

I think the S2 would benifited with having at least more 2 episodes, the 9th and the 10th became to rushed and plot holes and discrepancies became evident, it's still good but story wise the S1 is superior in that regard it had time to have good pacing and create essentially an amazing cliffhanger, for me S2 has the chemistry between the main actors as a selling point, I rarely see an onscreen chemistry that makes me feel it and this one did it, and call me basic or cliché I love me some, Sunshine girl/ Brooding guy, Forced Marriage, a bit of enemies to lovers which they deliver, S2 is like a fanfiction written by the authors and if this is the key for it to have a happy ending then be it... I still have trauma from the ending of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo I don't wanna relive it...

So I watch My Dear Donovan...

So I watched My Dear Donovan, it's my first Thai Drama... I sense a pattern within myself... Which is my first K-drama became a fave, my first C-drama became a fave and now the same happens with my first Thai-drama (not sure if it's called that).

A bit of a disclaimer, I will be HIGHLY critical of it, while I enjoyed every moment of it, so much that it took my 3rd spot, on my Top 5 dramas of all time, I can see many issues in it's script, protrayal of sensitive issues and maybe pacing of the story.

First for the Negatives cause I want to end in a good note but even the negatives have good points in them:

1st Pacing: The way it starts is amazing it has a good momentum with just a bit of an hicups, but has it moes forward it starts to become all over the place.... One moment everything goes well you reach the first comercial break and then everything goes to shit... and I felt lost a few times, this ties in with the second point.

2nd Script: Why do we need to have women fight for a man in 2022? I'm asking because we have 3 main females (Pam the leading lady of MDD, Jessica the "scorned" ex and Dararai the antagonist of this all), and all of them at some point fight each other verbally or physically, And the lengths that both Jessica and Dararai go to keep Donovan tied to them boggles me to no end. And please stop making people cheat (depending on each person's defenition of cheating) like Donovan did in my opinion when backed into a corner.

3rd Sensitive Issues: The way Donovan's SA and drugging are sort of treated differently when compared to is sister's SA. His crime being kinda brushed off after the press conference (will not lie, he filled that suit very well and I like me some bordeaux), yes I know he did not commit murder but still aggravated assault and the way everyone believed the articles that Dararai leaked.

4th It is too short: And by saying this, I think the Drama would have benefited to at least be either 18 or 20 episodes so that the last 4 episodes wouldn't feel like a mess, I liked that Pam grew into herself but it came to late, almost at the end, I wanted her to struggle with her demure and people pleasing identity, I also wanted Donovan to come to terms about not being a model anymore and what did he do during 10 months. The Mom and the grandfather becane okay to quiclky... etc.

Now for the Positives... Everything else... Joking:

1st Styling: While I am tormented over the fact that almost all my aunts are either kindergarten or primary school teachers, and Pam is one, I will say that I love the styling - and after watching the atrocity that is the Chinese Meteor Garden this is Chef's Kiss - I love Pam's shirts and long skirts, the cute shoes, the glasses ( I want the 3 pairs she uses), the Hair ( if I wasn't thinkng about dyeing my hair with 2 colors, I would dye it that shade of brown) and the fact that it's wavy and slightly curly at some points, I love it. Donovan my man you can make sweatpants work - from me that is a compliment - he looks amazing in everything... even when he is supposed to look dishevel as f*ck... and when he uses glasses it's a shot to my heart, like I mentioned before the bordeaux suit fit him so well. I'm going to mention the fact that Jessica and Dararai also have an amazing style, Dararai makes sense cause we need to have an antagonist that dresses well... and Jessica how dare she dress badly when she is a model. The styling in the show is top notch overall, not may hiccups.

2nd Chemistry: Namtan and Luke, have the best chemistry I have seen in a while, they look, act and embody the characters... They look real... so much that I ship the actors in real life... they look so good together. I wanted the kisses to be more real but minor nitpick on my part... I wanted them to have more spice together cause the way they acted they could lit a forest on fire.

3rd Cinematography: Everything is well shot, the fight scenes it feels that you are watching a western action movie, the ambience looks good and the editing is on point.

4th Soundtrack: The main theme sung by Luke is funny you just hear the most hilarious part before and after the comercial breaks and it gets stuck on your head like crazy, Namtan has a sweet voice, there are musics in the soundtrack that I recognize but it fullfills a purpose and fits. Overall the soundtrack is solid.

While not perfect, it stuck with me and I believe what makes this show great are the actors, specially Namtan and Luke.

I will end my review here, if someone wants to add something, please do. Everyone has their own opinion this is just my own and I also wanna hear yours.

Why I can't let go of Love Between Fairy and Devil

For context me and my friend started this drama in a sense as a joke and ironically, it seemed fun, with good visuals, that was our thought process, we also discovered it's easier for us for start a drama together cause it motivates us to watch it. We were wacthing a few episodes together and then commented on the others that we watched separately.

I blame anxiety for making it hard to start TV shows, in my case I need to know what's going to happen so I wlll naturally spoil myself before starting anything, my friend is the opposite she hates spoilers. Yes, I already knew a few climatic moments that were bound to happen.

The first few episodes, it started like any drama, characters, pace, setting, and okay story till we get to episode 7/8 then I became obsessed. My job made it harder to binge it cause I was tired all the time but when I did watch, binged it and now I'm in withdrawl

Everything is amazing, if perfection exists it is this drama, from the intro animation and song (I tend to skip intros except this), the visuals otherworldly, the costumes perfection - they did an incredible job, creating distinctive cultures and nunces betwwen the fairies, the moon tribe and the mortal world, to make each unique - the love story starts a bit enemies to lovers, slow-burn with the perfect pace to it, you know they are starting to love each other just by looks alone, before any of them say anything, their actions speak, the main characters complement each other from the beginning - they start slightly one-dimensional but always complete each other from the start, the side characters are also well written and given great care - except the Emperor... he can die, I wanted to punch the screen everytime he was in it.

While I knew the part where Xiao La Hua sacrifices herself for every one, the spoilers did not prepare me for the amount ot pain I would feel when it happened, I was not prepared for the episodes 30 - 36 the pain, the crying... the feelings. The last episodes where she pretends to not remember him so that she can die, then she does the smile gesture and he knows that she knows and that broke me even more. I also believe that the key for the Goddess to awake her powers was never the wedding with Changheng but to kiss her true love Dongfang Quingcang... Prove me wrong... The parallels throught the story, visual clues.

Someone stop me please, I am not coherent enough anymore ( I never was), I want to experience it again... I just can't get over it... It may as well have dethroned Scarlet Heart: Ryeo from the top of my list... I don't even make sense anymore...

Nobody will probably care but...

I’m glad Tumblr still exists as a platform that doesn’t really on engagment or getting many likes or in the “nowness” I like seeing old posts about an old fandom I was in or new post of a new fandom that I joined. I like the celebration of ye old posts that are 10 years old. 

Of how I can enjoy simple things that make me happy, I have instagram but I don’t do anything cause I don’t like the evolution of it, I want to post pictures not a video, I want to see my friends posts not what the algorithym wants me to see.

Overall I’m glad Tumblr still exists and that I’m still here.

I never agreed so hard about something in a long time.

And it’s true the wiriters took the easy way out and the whole “he was a hero in the end” never felt right to me, he was always selfish, brash, childish but above all entlitled (specially in the Neverland Arc) in never actually listened to what Emma wanted or believed her. And his come around felt rushed and not well thought out, his death at the end felt as even the wirters were tired of his BS so they decide to kill him off.

I would have prefered if he stayed alive, I wouldn’t say be friends with Emma cause as the character was written I don’t think it would be possible but it would have been amazing to see his reaction, if he could see Emma be with Killian (Hook) in the end while he had is retribution.

Why Neal Cassidy is a bad person

My dissertation on the horrible person Neal Cassidy is and why he was never meant to be a romantic interest for Emma Swan.

There was a recent TV Line list that talked about Love Triangles that didn’t really work. The Neal/Emma/Hook triangle was one of those on that list. It was obvious from the short blurb that was written that the writer was a Neal fan. I’ve also heard and seen SwanFire (Emma and Neal shippers) fans plead passionately about how they were meant to be, and honestly, I’ve always scratched my head about this, because I’ve always seen Neal as a horrible person. Even before it was obvious to me that they were going the Captain Swan (Hook and Emma) route, I’ve never understood how anyone could be on Team Neal. So I’ve decided to look at it logically. 

Look, I understand that Neal is the father of Henry, Emma’s son. I understand that a lot of people feel they should be together because then they would be a family. But just because you have a child with someone does not mean that person is the one for you. So let’s look at the facts surrounding Henry’s birth. Henry was 10 when he found Emma on her 28th birthday, which means she was 17 when she had him (despite Emma saying she was 18 in The Price of Gold). She went to juvie, not jail, which we know from Desperate Souls, because she tells Regina that the records needed for the article printed about her in the paper about having Henry in jail were obtained illegally, because her records were sealed, something that could only happen if she were underage. We know that Emma ran away from Ingrid’s foster home at 16 and made her way to Portland where she stole the bug with Neal inside. At this point, Emma is either still 16 or just about to turn 17, depending on how long it took her to get to Oregon from Minnesota. Either way, she is still underage, and Neal, if we want to go off the age he is now since leaving Neverland, is around 22-23 (his wanted poster in Tallahassee has his birthday as 3/23/77), which is still skeezy in my book. I’m not even going to get into his years in Neverland, because he was the same age for that whole time. Now, Henry’s birthday is 8/15. Regina put this in as a code in the hospital in A Tale of Two Sisters, and in The Dark Swan Henry tells Killian that Regina uses his birthday for all her codes. Whether the writers intended this to be true when they used the code originally I have no idea, but this has been what most of the fandom considers Henry’s birthday. With that date in mind, Emma would have conceived Henry in November of 2000. Since we know Emma’s birthday is October 22nd or 23rd, that means she was only a few weeks past her birthday in conceiving Henry. Barely past the age of 16. In Oregon, the age of consent is (and was in 2000) 18, so Neal was breaking the law by having sex with Emma regardless of her consent.
