"I certainly hope someone does. I can’t go walking around in a half ruined skirt." She sighed. "It’s fine if they’re long..I can roll them up at the waist if we can’t hem them right away." There was a click of the tongue, and she frowned. "It was my Mother’s skirt, too..agh."

Fili snickered a little, packing the snow into a tight ball.  His brother was going down for sure this time.  Movement from behind the wall of his snow fort was all the impetus he needed to launch his attack, popping up and lobbing his missile at the source for all he was worth.

Except he’d misjudged.  The movement wasn’t caused by Kili.  It was his mother.  Oh… oh shit.  No matter, maybe she’d laugh it off, he’d explain it was meant for Kili and all would be well.

"Probably we should see if someone's got a spare pair lying around when we stop for the night.  Might be a tad long, but someone could no doubt hem them," he suggested with a shrug.  "Probably best that we find you something more suitable for adventuring before we risk what's left of your dignity and and your honor as a lady, of course."

"I don’t own any. Why else? It was the most practical one I could find, too." Just a simple thing that a Hobbit would wear around the house or something, and yet it still got in the way. "Hobbit lasses don’t wear trousers..so." There was a sigh, and she groaned, inspecting the remains of her skirt. "I won’t even be able to mend it.."

"It's highly advisable, yes," Fili was trying hard not to be amused.  The poor little Halfling with her dress woes.  "Why in Mahal's name did you decide to wear a skirt on such a dangerous quest anyway?" there was probably the simple answer of she didn't own any.  It seemed well-behaved Hobbit lasses did not simply own a pair of trousers.
