Me gustaría creer.

raindrops
Pairing: Giyu Tomioka X Shinobu Kochou
Summary: Shinobu waits for her husband to come.
A/N: I’m in the mood for some angst and this just popped up in my head. This is an Au where there are no demons.
Hope you enjoy!
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Rain poured down on the ground, watering the plants and cleaning up the dust on the streets as it falls down the drains.
There are people walking under the rain, smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the rain. People walk with umbrellas above them to avoid getting wet, chatting happily like the weather didn’t matter.
Others stay indoors, sitting next to their windows while reading a book and listening to calm music with a cup of hot drink resting on a table next to them. Some would be having a great time with their friends or families, enjoying the night as if nothing changed their routine.
In a house surrounded by beautiful trees and wisteria flowers, there sat a woman looking out of her bedroom window and was watching the rainfall in silence while sitting on her bed.
Her black and purple hair reached her shoulders, a butterfly pin rested on her bedside table. Her dull purple eyes were half closed as she watched the rain, sadness were in those beautiful purple orbs instead of light.
She wore a black yukata and a very odd haori, the haori was half maroon and half yellow and green patterned small cubes. Between her hands sat a picture of a handsome man.
The man had long jet black hair that was tied in a ponytail, he had ocean blue orbs and slender eyes. He looked around 23 years old. He also wore the same haori that the woman was wearing.
There was a light knocking on her door but the woman didn’t even move a muscle. The door opened to reveal another young woman with her black hair tied to a side ponytail and held by a green butterfly pin, she had pink orbs that looked sadly at the woman sitting by the window.
“Shinobu-Sama, I got you some food.” The woman said, walking over to the woman and placed the tray of food on a table next to the woman’s bed.
The woman -Shinobu- nodded slowly and the woman next to her sighed at Shinobu’s state.
“Shinobu-Sama, it’s been five years since that incident. I’m sure he’ll come back.” The woman said and Shinobu stayed silent.
The woman patted Shinobu’s shoulder and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her and sighed.
It’s been five years. Five years since Shinobu Tomioka’s husband left for a business trip. Five years since the news of the ship he was on sank. Five years and they didn’t hear anything from him. Five years since he’s been rumored dead. Five years since Shinobu fell into depression.
“Kanao-Sama.” The woman who was in Shinobu’s room turned to the person who called her, “Muzan-San has arrived.”
“Alright, you can go see what you’re doing Aoi.” Kanao said and walked past the pigtailed girl and walked towards the living room.
She got in and saw a man with curly black hair who wore a white fedora on his head, he wore a black suit with a red tie and black shoes. He looked up as Kanao entered, looking at her with his crimson orbs.
“Any news?” Kanao asked, sitting on the floor in front of the man, he took a sip from his tea and placed it down on the tray in front of him.
“I got a message from Tanjiro. He found him.” Muzan said and Kanao’s eyes lit up, “Really?!”
“I was surprised too. Tanjiro wrote to me and said that he was on an island with Mitsuri and found him with the inhabitants of the island and he didn’t know how to come back. They are on their way back.” Muzan said and Kanao felt a rush of relief wash over her.
“How’s Shinobu?” Muzan asked and when he saw the light in Kanao’s eyes vanish he knew that she’s not okay.
“She’s still depressed. Still sitting on her bed with Giyuu’s haori around her, she’s eating now so that’s something good.” Kanao replied and Muzan sighed.
“When I met Ume yesterday she told me about Shinobu’s condition and that it improved throughout those five years.” Muzan states and Kanao smiled lightly.
“If it weren’t for her skills as a therapist then Shinobu might’ve...” Kanao couldn’t bring herself to finish the sentence. Shinobu has always been a cheerful person when she became an adult, she is a very bright person who always put a smile on her lips despite the situation.
Even when Kanae was in the hospital, she was putting on a smile but she was sad. All the time she was smiling and was bringing joy to everyone around her. When she got married to Giyuu Tomioka, she was even happier.
Despite his silence and his mysterious demeanor, he always found ways to make Shinobu smile or laugh. She loved everything about him and he also felt the same even though he doesn’t show it to anyone, Shinobu was always laughing whenever she’s around him.
When his ship sank five years ago, Shinobu lost all the light she radiated. Ever since that day, the sun has set and it never rose in the Tomioka household.
•••••••••••
Looking at the house at the outside, he can feel it. The sadness radiating from the house, the whole estate was depressed.
“It been like this for five years.” A soft voice spoke. It belonged to a girl who had pink hair with her hair turning to green at the end of her hair that reached her hips. She wore a white, long sleeved knitten dress that reached her knees and brown boots that reached below her knees with a brown beret resting on her head.
The man next to her was silent, still staring at the house in front of him with an unreadable expression on his face. He walked towards the house, stepping on the sad grass of the front yard.
He stopped in front of the door, with the woman behind him. She looked up at him with concern in her eyes. She did a good job in cleaning him up before taking him back.
He raised his hand and knocked softly at the door, letting his hand down after knocking and glanced at his companion.
“I’ll be fine Mitsuri.” He said, noticing her expression, which she replied with a sigh.
The door opened and pink orbs stared into his blue ones with tears watering her eyes and started to fall down her cheeks.
“Giyuu?” Kanao muttered slowly, and the man nodded slowly and hugged the woman.
“You’re back, you’re really back. You’re actually here.” Kanao said, crying into Giyuu’s chest and he just stood there.
She pulled away and let the two in, Kanao pointed towards the direction of Shinobu’s room. Giyuu looked into the direction and made his way towards his wife’s room.
He knew that she will yell at him and demand an explaination from him. He’s ready for everything that will come out at him, he’s the reason behind the depressing aura coming from the house.
Stopping in front of her room, Giyuu took a deep breath and opened the door slowly. He closed it behind him and took in the heartbreaking scene in front of him.
She sat there, wearing his haori and staring at their wedding pictures. He noticed her swollen eyes and her hair out of her usual butterfly pin. His heart broke at the scene and felt even guilt drowning him.
He walked up to her slowly and sat down behind her, she didn’t even move a muscle or look behind her.
“Kanao please, I want to be alone.” Shinobu muttered and Giyuu felt a few tears fall from his eyes. His wife is broken and depressed because of his disappearance, all this time she thought that he’s dead and fell into depression.
He slowly wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into his chest, burrying his head into her hair.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry Shinobu.” He muttered, feeling the petite woman in his arms freeze upon hearing his voice again.
She turned around his arms and looked up at him, looking into his eyes again. Giyuu’s heart broke even more after seeing her eyes so dead.
“Why? Why did you leave me alone?” Shinobu muttered then grabbed his clothes.
“WHY?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME ALL ALONE? WHY DID YOU DISAPPEAR FOR FIVE YEARS WITHOUT SENDING ME A LETTER? WHY DID YOU COME BACK? DO YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THIS? I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU.” Shinobu screamed, her tiny fists punching his chest and he just sat there.
“JUST LEAVE ME....... just.... don’t.” He yells turned to whispers and she felt all her strength leave her and fall into her husband’s chests, with his arms wrapped around her tightly.
“Don’t leave me again Giyuu... don’t disappear like that again.” Shinobu muttered, her tears making his shirt wet. He held her against his chest as he burried his head into her hair as his tears soaked her hair.
The two fell asleep in each other’s arms, with a smile on Shinobu’s lips.
In the morning, Shinobu came out of her room and skipped happily to the kitchen. She greeted everyone in the house on her way to the kitchen.
She started preparing breakfast for her husband. When Aoi asked her about it, she replied with
“My husband’s back home and he missed my cooking.”
And a bright smile that mad Aoi tear up and hug her. She helped Shinobu prepare breakfast and Kanao prepared the table.
Shinobu ran back to her room and pulled out new clothes for her husband and placed them in the bathroom, preparing the shower for him.
When she walked back into the room, Giyuu was sitting up on the bed and rubbing his eyes. Shinobu walked up to him and poked his cheek.
“Good morning Giyuu-San! I prepared the shower for you and breakfast too.” Shinobu said and Giyuu grabbed her hand gently and placed a kiss on it, causing a light blush to spread on her cheeks.
He stood up and let go of her hand as he walked towards the bathroom. Shinobu giggled as he closed the door behind him, she fixed up her room and opened the window.
She took a deep breath, feeling the morning breeze tickle her face. She picked up her butterfly pin and put her hair up in its usual updo and clipped the butterfly pin into her hair.
She changed into a white yukata and wore her butterfly haori. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, her mind went back to the days were her usual smile was replaced with a crown for five years.
She didn’t notice her husband walking up behind her and hugging her from behind, burring his head into her neck as he inhaled her scent. Shinobu leaned back against him as he peppered kisses along her neck.
“You’re unusually romantic this morning.” Shinobu said and heard a grunt from her husband.
“I missed you.” He replied and went back to preppering kisses on her neck. Shinobu giggled and placed her hand on his hair, ruffling it lightly.
He stopped and placed his head on her shoulder, Shinobu looked at him and he turned his head to her. He placed his lips on hers as he pulled her closer to him.
Shinobu melt into the kiss, missing the way he holds her everytime they kiss. Missing the way he would bit her lower lip gently during their kiss. Missing how he always made her melt everytime he pulls away and giving her a slight smirk and staring into her eyes warmly.
They pulled away due to the lack of oxygen in their lungs, with Giyuu placing his head back on her shoulder and staring into her eyes through the mirror.
“C’mon, I prepared breakfast.” Shinobu said, after some time and Giyuu nodded and kissed her shoulder then pulled away. Taking her hand, he walked out of the room with her towards the living room.
After five years, Shinobu Tomioka came back to her happy spirit.
After five years, everyone who knew Shinobu and Giyuu can smile brightly again
After five years, the sun rose and lit up the Tomioka house and lighting up the town again.

Kiss & Ocean
Dedicated for #giyushinoweek’s Day 6: Kiss or Ocean? Why not both?
Notes: This is just a ficlet. (´・` )♡
@giyushinoweek
–
Kiss — “That’s not it!”
Notes: This is inspired by my headcanon in my otp ask/question meme.
“I love you, Tomioka-san!” Shinobu declared.
“… That’s one of your pranks, isn’t it?” Giyuu eyed her suspiciously.
She pouted. “That’s not it, Tomioka-san! I’m being serious here you know!”
He shrugged and went to walk, but then his eyes went wide when he found her kissing his lips and felt how soft her lips were. What a bold move to do.
He didn’t realize his whole face was flushed which she smirked in victory.
“What an amusing expression, Tomioka-san~” She sang.
“You’re really pranking me.”
She could only place her palm on her face. What an idiot crush I have!
–
Ocean — Peace
“What a beautiful view, don’t you think so, Tomioka-san?” She felt the cool air and smelled the ocean’s water salt. “It really reminds me of you who used Breath of Water.”
“I wish you are with me today.” Her smile was pained. “So far, Oyakata-sama is planning an all-out-attack to defeat the source of humanity’s misery. If you saw how the kids grew, you can’t believe it for yourself that they were the same kids you’ve known.”
“Giyuu-san… I miss you.” Her voice cracked and smile started to crumble.

Day Five: Moon/Angst Warning: None Pair: Giyū x Shinobu Word Count: 936
This one came a little late, but I’ve had a busy day/night so please forgive me. Surprisingly enough, this prompt was harder than I thought it would be. But I want to thank those in the Giyushino discord server for helping me out to write it. It is a little sad, but Idk this is what I came up with.
Enjoy!
@giyushinoweek
————————————————————————————–
“The moon is beautiful tonight, isn’t it?”
Giyū heard the insect pillar say behind him. Of course, she’ll come to tease him. There was nothing Shinobu enjoyed more than to make fun of him. But he wasn’t in the mood for it tonight. Most times, he didn’t mind if Shinobu wanted to pick on him, but tonight was different. Tonight he wanted to be left alone.
“Shinobu I-”
“You know, I miss them on nights like this.” She interrupted him, making him peer behind his back to take a better look at the pillar. “I wish we had a little more time together.”
The insect pillar began to walk toward him.
“May I sit next to you?” She asked.
He nodded.
Upon taking a closer look at the small woman next to him, he noticed she wasn’t wearing her usual smile. Could it be that her family died on a night like this too? No, that wasn’t right. Perhaps it was the moon. He knew she liked the moon.
Shinobu rarely talked about her past. Much like all of the pillars, including himself, they prefer not to speak of the events that brought them to the Demon Slayer’s Corp.
However, Giyū couldn’t help to notice how different she looked without her usual smile. Funny, there were times he really despised it because, on most occasions, it wasn’t sincere. But tonight, he would do anything to see her smile.
“Tomioka-san,” He heard say, “On this date, did you lose someone special?”
“Yes.” He said.
She nodded.
“How did you know?” He asked after a long pause.
“You come here on the same day every year.” She looked at him. “And sit by the lake and stare out the sky. It didn’t take me long to figure out.”
Of course, she’d figure it out. Shinobu was naturally noisy, so it didn’t surprise Giyū that she had been watching him every year when he came to sit by the pond.
*~*
She hadn’t been trying to intrude in his life, but the first night she saw Tomioka by the pond, she noticed he had been crying. It had been a long time ago, she had been elected as the insect pillar by their master. She remembered it like if it was yesterday. He had been crying, and although they were silent tears, it shocked her to see someone as intimidating and severe as the water pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps reduced to tears. Then every year, she would see him sitting by the pond. Sometimes he cried; other times, he just stared out to the sky, looking at the stars and moon, like tonight. She hadn’t planned to bother him, but having known him all these years, and being paired the last year together, Shinobu felt it the urge to comfort him.
“So it was you?” He said, breaking her from her reverie.
“Eh?”
“The one watching me all these years.”
Shinobu widened her eyes. Of course, he’d notice it. It was silly of her to think it would escape him. She merely nodded, not having the courage to admit it with words.
“Why?”
Taking a deep breath, Shinobu said, “I don’t really know.” A pause. “I guess I could relate to your pain. Also, you looked awfully sad.”
All of that was true, but Shinobu failed to tell him the real reason why she watched him all those years. Even if she wanted to tell him, she couldn’t. Not when her fate was sealed, for, in only a week, she would face Upper Demon Two.
“I’ve never seen you serious before.” Tomioka’s words surprised her.
She turned to look at him. He was staring out to the sky, and with the light of the moon reflecting on the side of his face, he looked breathtakingly handsome. Life was unfair. When she had found something worth living for, she had to let it go.
She wondered if Tomioka would forgive her for living him. Would he remember her? Would he come out on nights like this and think of her? She knew it was wishful thinking, but she hoped he did. As selfish as it was, she didn’t want him to forget her.
“Are you saying you like my smile, Tomioka-san?” She smiled, playfully at him.
He glanced at her, and she felt the air leave her lungs.
“I prefer it.” He answered honestly, and Shinobu didn’t know what to say.
A pause.
“Sabito.” He said.
“Sabito?” She asked owlishly.
“He was my best friend.” He said, still looking at her. “He died 7 years ago on this day.”
She wasn’t sure what surprised her more if his admission to preferring her smile or the fact that he trusted her enough to talk about the person he had lost. Something in her heart stirred, and she hated herself for what she was going to do in a couple of days.
Shinobu took Tomioka’s hand in hers and interlaced her fingers around his. She didn’t know what came over her, but for all she knew, this might be the last night she’ll spend it like this with him, and she needed to know how it felt to hold his hand.
“Thank you, Tomioka-san” She smiled. “For trusting me.”
If she was surprised by her boldness, Tomioka was even more taken aback by her action. Yet, he didn’t attempt to let go of her hand. Instead, he squeezed her it gently.
*~*
They stayed like that for a while, looking at the moon, in complete silence. Remembering the ones they had lost to the demons and enjoying each other’s company.

Day Three: Alternative Universe/Touch Pair: Giyū x Shinobu Warning: None Word Count: 959
I wanted to do something different, but I couldn’t rid myself of this idea. Here you have a little fluff.
Enjoy!
@giyushinoweek
————————————————————————————-
It was a rare sight to see Tomioka-san sleeping so peacefully.
Shinobu got a little closer to the man, carefully sitting next to him to peer at his soft expression. There were no lines on his face, which make him look, dare she say, attractive. How strange, she would never associate the word attractive with Tomioka Giyu, not that she found him ugly, no, none of that. But he was Tomioka-san, the socially awkward water pillar, and her favorite person to make fun of. He was also her partner in missions and the person that often reminded her what their job was about. In some ways, he was her personal pillar. They were pillars, and she couldn’t forget that. And yet… His expression was so soft.
He had returned from a recent mission. There had been slaughterings in a town, and he had gone to investigate the matter. As expected, someone had been turned into a demon just recently, and they were starved for human flesh and blood. He killed the beast and came back to her estate for his yearly check-up. He was as healthy as last year but exhausted after having traveled without rest for days. So Shinobu had told him to stay in her estate and rest for the night.
Now she was beginning to regret her offer. Tomioka was, sprawled on the floor; he hadn’t even waited for Shinobu to bring him a mat, blankets, and a pillow for the night. When she came back, he had already fallen asleep.
She felt her fingers twitch. His skin and hair looked so soft and inviting that she felt the urge to touch them, and so she did.
She lightly brushed his bangs off his face, afraid that he’d wake with her touch. When he didn’t stir, she brushed his right cheek lightly with the back of her hand, allowing herself to touch his face gently and softly. Her suspicions had been correct; his face was indeed soft. She flattened the palm of her hand on his cheek, cupping it gently.
“What are you doing, Shinobu?”
*~*
He heard Shinobu gasp in surprise at the same time she withdrew her hand from his face. He had been awake for some time now, but he hadn’t move because he wanted to see what she was doing, or more precisely, what she would do.
It wasn’t the first time Shinobu had touched him. She was often poking him whenever she wanted his attention. Also, she was their doctor, so she was the one to do his yearly check-ups. Her touch had always been clinical; that’s why it surprised him when she touched him differently. Softly, almost loving.
“Tomioka-san, you startled me.” He heard her say slightly breathless.
When he opened his eyes to look at her, he noticed the faint blush on her cheeks. She was smiling at him like she always did, but that didn’t fool him.
“What were you trying to do, Shinobu?” He asked more firmly.
“I wanted to touch your face.” She said, smiling, and the pink on her cheeks becoming more prominent.
“Touch… my… face?” He looked at her dumbly.
What was she trying to say? What did she mean by touching his face?
“Tomioka-san, you really are dense, aren’t you?” She said, giggling.
There she goes offending him again. He wondered why he put up with her. Truth is, he didn’t know why. Shinobu didn’t really bother him like some of the other pillars did. If he was honest with himself, he liked her company… sometimes.
Looking away from him, she said, “I don’t know how it happened.” She whispered. “And I know what you’re going to say.” She smiled bitterly to herself. “We are pillars, and as such, we have a job to do.” She took a glance at him and smiled sadly. “But what am I to do with my feelings?”
Giyū couldn’t follow her. What did being a pillar and having feelings had anything to do with touching his-
Realization dawned on him, and his eyes widened.
“I like you, Tomioka-san.”
*~*
They looked at each other for a long time.
Her emotions were running wild. She felt a tightness in her chest and a fear creeping in her heart. She didn’t want to hear him reject her. It was okay if he didn’t feel the same way, but she didn’t want to hear it from him.
“Go to sleep, Tomioka-san!” She tried to sound cheerful, but her heart was breaking, and she knew she wasn’t fooling anybody. “Goodnight.”
Tomioka did not know why he did it, but something within him snapped, and before Shinobu could stand up, he snatched her hand and pulled her to him. She stumbled forward and crashed against his chest. And for a long time, they stayed that way. Giyu on the floor and Shinobu against his chest.
“What is it, Tomioka-san?” She asked after a while.
She stared at him, but the longer he took to respond, the more she grew annoyed by him. What could be so difficult to say? With every passing minute, the veins on Shinobu’s forehead began to pop out.
“Shinobu,” He said a little too sudden startling her. “We are pillars.” He said, and she closed her eyes, fighting the urge to smack him at his too obvious statement. “But we are also human.”
It was then that Shinobu snapped her eyes open.
“Tomioka-san?”
“Do you…” He said, looking away from her searching eyes. “Do you mean it?”
Silence.
“Yes.” She said.
He nodded.
Another pause.
“I… Like you too.”
Without another word, Shinobu closed the gap between them and pressed her lips against his.
“Tomioka-san,” She began saying against his lips. “What do you use on your skin?”

Hug & Glance
Dedicated for #giyushinoweek’s Day 1: Hug or Glance? Why not both?
Notes: This is just a ficlet. (´・` )♡
@giyushinoweek
–
Hug — “…ood.”
Shinobu gasped, almost losing her heart when she felt someone warm behind her, embracing her. Her veins on her forehead started to pop-up, wondering why would he embrace her without her consent? Giyuu was becoming a creep just like those men who stared at her like a pack of wolves.
She started to feel the loud drumbeats on her chest, hoping he wouldn’t hear and feel it on his chest. Her cheeks started to get flushed. She questioned herself angrily why in the world his chest didn’t beat loud and hers was the opposite? It was unfair.
He better be thankful she was patient as she asked: “Tomioka-san? Kindly explain to me why would you embrace me?”
One minute had passed, no response from him which only tested her patience. “Tomioka-san? I’m not a kind person you know? If I don’t hear anything from you, I could paralyze your body with my special—”
“…ood.” She was trailed off when she heard him mumbled.
“I couldn’t hear you, Tomioka-san.”
“Um… th-there’s… blood…” She could tell that he couldn’t explain it very well.
What was stopping him from explaining in the first place? She didn’t get him at all. He just needed to explain using his mouth, but why couldn’t he do it? She wanted to scream at him.
“Behind… you.” He mumbled.
Blood… behind me? She blinked a few more times until she realized what he meant by that. Her face’s color started to become red as a tomato. I made sure to be extra careful today so it won’t spill yet he saw it!
She wanted to die in an instant.
Yes, lads and gents, Shinobu was on her period that day. (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑
–
Glance — “—eekkk!”
Shinobu felt that someone was eyeing her today, but when she turned around, no one was there. The feeling wasn’t a demon or someone who had any intention of harming her, but someone who just wanted to see what she was doing. Or was it her only imagination?
“Kochou-san!” There was a demon slayer who approached her with a big wave along with three demon slayers. “Good morning, Kochou-san!”
“Good morning to you as well, fellow soldiers.” She displayed her trademark graceful smile which resembled her elder sister’s smile. The demon slayers were in love and hearts were flying in the air. “Are you on break?”
“Ah, yes. We’ll resume working hard after our break!” Demon slayer #1 said.
“Oh, that’s good. Rest well so you can gather strength later on!” She said, radiating a bright smile.
“Um, Kochou-san?” Demon slayer #2 called and she returned a hum. “Are you seeing some—eekkk!” He was trailed off when he saw a black aura behind her. “We apologize for going off soon, but we’re going to leave! Take care, Kochou-san!” The demon slayers bowed 90 degrees and ran off somewhere.
She blinked several times. “What just happened?” She looked behind her, but nothing was there and she didn’t even look scary. “Did my anger seeped out? But I’m not angry?” She was confused, but then shrugged off what did just happened.
At the far distance, Giyuu had an apparent smirk on his lips. He stole a glance once more of her ethereal beauty before he departed to his mission that his old crow gave.
Possessive Giyuu, lads and gents. (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑
