More practice of stuff I've already tried to just get a feel for how it feels after a few days. Did a little bit of trying to sketch a wolf picture I was looking at. That's what is on the right there. It uh... Didn't go great. I'm going to do that more later though so expect to see a post dedicated to wolf studying. One of my major goals with art is to be able to make art of my own fursona that I'm proud of. My 'sona is a hybrid bat/wolf. So that's why I'm focusing on wolves so much. I tried to doodle my cat, Koshi. She does airplane ears a lot, and she is generally full of sass. I love her so much. I think I captured the sass pretty well, and for a quick doodle I decided to do on memory I think it went well!

More practice. This post is mostly for me, just to try to keep up with my one post a day rule, but it also shows my improvement. The sketch on the left is from yesterday. The other one is from just now. It's not great and it doesn't really look any better than yesterday, but it was easier! I could feel some muscle memory kicking in. That's the beauty of sleeping on a new skill I suppose.
Also I thought of another thing possibly worth mentioning about my journey. Hardware! I have a few advantages from being married to an artist. One has already been on show, I can ask him questions and follow his examples. The other advantage is that he has a nice ipad and apple pencil. I've never drawn on one of these so it's definitely a bit of a learning curve, but it's nice to have all these options.

More sketches featuring my husband @pawtimer! It's pretty obvious but just for clarity his is on the right, the left is me trying to copy what he did. I didn't do too hot, but it was my first try. I gotta practice this more so I can put something together that isn't just a sketch and that I'm proud of. On a side note, artists are so cool. Pawtimer was able to just make that guy! It took seconds! People are out here just creating guys with their brain and making them real just like that. I hope one day my sketches look that good, and I can just think of a character and have a sketch made of them so fast. On another side note I realize I might want to point something out for context to those that might actually be following my blog. I have hand tremors! They're pretty slight normally but they can be much more noticeable sometimes. I was fighting that when I made this sketch. I honestly don't think it made my sketch worse than it would have been otherwise, but it did make it a little more frustrating. I have a feeling my tremors might be more noticeable the better I get actually. We'll see. Either way I'm not going to let them discourage me! Anyways I'm gonna get back to practicing!

I made a post about how I want to post something new every day and then immediately miss a day. In my defense I had a friend over. Here's a little sketch of me practicing snouts from a head on view. They were supposed to be a wolf but I think it ended up more fox like. Today has been a sorta low energy day for me so all I did was some sketching, but I'm proud of myself for still powering through the minimal energy to make something. I don't think this little fox sketch looks all that bad for a beginner either. I added a little heart for all the people that have been so nice to me as I've started my art journey. There have been so many sweet comments and reblogs, so that heart is for all of you. <3

Another beginner artist update! This doesn't look like much but I'm actually really proud of it. Well I'm not so proud of the dog with anxiety on the right, but it was good practice for drawing snouts since I've mostly been drawing sonic the hedgehog style characters. That first face on the left, the one that looks better, was drawn by my husband @pawtimer when I asked how he made his eyes look so expressive. He drew that, then I drew the next red sketch. I thought I did pretty good! This was drawn before my Clash the Rat piece and you can probably tell I used some of what I learned here on that. My goal with this blog is to have new art on here every day, that way I hold myself to practicing, and so I have a good timeline of how my skills are developing. My hopes are that I get actually good at this art thing one day and have my early art super visible so other people might be inspired. Maybe that's too ambitious, but I'm gonna try anyways.
If anyone has tips or resources for me on my journey, or if you just want to suggest something for me to draw so you can see it drawn poorly I'm all ears! I think I'm decent at sonic characters so I wouldn't mind drawing people's OCs either.

Inspired by my little rat sketch and my Shadow the Hedgehog art I've made this guy! Clash the Rat. He's a laid back swashbuckler. He's pretty obviously inspired by No Place from sonic prime. I'm really proud of him! This is easily the most brainpower I've ever put into a piece of art and probably a really good indicator of where I'm really starting with art.

I'm pretty new to tumblr and didn't expect so much support! Thank you to everyone that has been complimenting my shadow art. This is just some sketches I did. I made a rat, then gave him a sword, then tried some furry tutorial stuff there in the bottom left. I don't think I did to good, but this was drawn on a phone so I think that makes up for it. I really like the rat, which you can probably tell as he is my display pic.

Hi! I'm AllClaws, I'm 29, and I wanna start practicing art. I've never considered myself good at it but I have a lot of artist friends and I really love art, especially furry art. So I'm going to journal my progress here!
This is where I'm starting. This is the piece that inspired me to start practicing art. I made it as a joke a specifically made it to look like it "would go up on a fridge". Still I impressed myself! I used to be one of those couldn't-draw-a-stick-figure types, but this certainly isn't a stick figure even if it isn't all that great.
