everyone who's anyone was here, tonight. there was nothing delloso de la rue, mistrex of ceremonies, was better at than putting together a ball. everything had it's proper place, the ballroom decorated magnificently - and almost magically - with every kind of flower you could think of. they watched as guests entered, gawking at the decor, aweing at how much work had been put into this event, and rue watched from where she stood with a flute of champaign. their reactions should cause the mistrex great joy - it used to. now, they feel as if they're missing something. like they can't enjoy it themself. 'oh - lord swan,' eyes travel to the man that has stepped up beside them, bowing a bit in his direction, rue now adorning a grin to cover up their thoughts. 'it's a pleasure to have you here this evening. has bella come with you? i believe she's at the proper age to attend these events, now, isn't she?' @frightes.
'you're right, it's not good. it's the worst,' gorgug is aware there are worst things in the world, but as a dramatic and hormonal teenager, he's also self aware, and thus there is nothing worse than not fitting in. thinking he sees that flash of sadness on annette's features, gorgug thumbs the straps of his backpacks and gives her a small grin. 'wanna get some ice cream? on me, so i can pay you back for making me feel better,' maybe he can do the same for her with a sweet treat.
it seems to be some odd talent of hers -- saying just the right thing to the right people. granted, the opposite side does also occur: the wrong thing has a funny habit of finding its way out, too. the brunette offers a small smile to gorgug, trying to hide the little thread of sadness weaving itself into her mind. fitting in anywhere is a gift, in her eyes. "n-n-no p - prob-blem. i, um ... i kn-n-now how it ... it f-f-feels t-to ... n-not fit in. s-s'no g-g-good."
once, she was a queen. once, the world didn't seem so bleak. the people of fructera looked up to her for understanding and guidance. now, the mighty have fallen, and amangeaux felt alone. but women of her status did not get to feel lonely. she had to act stoic, pretend she was not fazed, keep her head about her so that people would still respect her. sebastian, at least, would allow her to unravel in front of him, if only just a bit. hand snaps up to swiftly wipe away a tear that dares to fall from golden brown eyes, face turning away so that sebastian did not have to see the lady break. the hand on her shoulder is more than comforting, and though she cannot look at him, she does lift her own to place over his. 'yes, well - it seems as if you're the only one,' everyone else has given up on her. everyone but him and raphaniel, and even the bishop has become somewhat of a hermit, studying religious scripts and trying and failing to understand the world. watery eyes move around their environment. lady amangeaux tries to breathe and remind herself that she needed to hold herself together. 'thank you. truly, i... i don't know what i would do without you, sebastian,' urging herself to look at him, tear filled eyes are earnest. she's grateful for his calm demeanor, almost craves his reassurance, though she would never ask for more. 'the future, it's so uncertain. i do not know what will become of me or those i care about, but i cannot thank you enough for staying by my side,' lady sniffles and sits up a bit straighter. 'promise me that you will not leave me. i know it is a large ask, but i... i cannot be alone. not again. i do not think i could bare it,'
HE NOTICES WHEN THE WORDS FAIL HER , when language is difficult , when lady amangeaux's mind takes complete control of every action and restricts her openness . that's why sebastian pries a little , hoping to learn the reason for her stress — maybe he can do something to help ease that pain , if only for a little while . ❝ you can speak to me as honestly as you'd like , ❞ he murmurs in response to her quiet question . there will be no judgement . there will be no glare of disapproval or disgusted noise from his lips . all he hopes to do is listen , TO ABSORB , to observe the soft tremors in her typically refined voice and seek solutions to them . she looks upset . she looks distraught , crumbling , disturbed by her own fears — I AM AFRAID , she tells him , and sebastian quietly shifts closer to her on the stone bench . he wants to offer support . EVERYTHING IS SO UNCERTAIN , she goes on , and when sebastian notices the lady's brow creasing , strained , he reaches for her shoulder . the faintest , supportive touch . ❝ you say you're trying to be strong , ❞ he echoes , ❝ so let me say . . . I SEE IT . i see this new strength within you . it's visible to me without your previous indication of the change . i see tension . i see your furrowed brows . ❞ he's merely her guard ; he shouldn't exactly be speaking to her in this way in an official sense . . . but when have they ever remained official ? ❝ know that it's working . know you're doing all that you can . ❞ a softer gaze . ❝ you WILL get through this . i believe in you very much . ❞

JANE SHEPARD: WE HAVE A LONG JOURNEY AHEAD OF US. 'indeed,' the knight is stood tall, always at attention, arms stiff at his sides as he meets her gaze. there isn't much else he can say to that, no comfort that their joruney would be easy, either. but it's something they both expected when they left the castle ( when they were forced from it ). truthfully, theo is relieved to have someone like shepard around - a fighter, someone tough, firm, and someone who, frankly, took no shit. it was a bit of a contrast to him, but he thought they could work, and fight, well together. 'we're lucky to have you with us. the more support the king has, the better, i think,' @solesoldier.
